The London Daily News and IBTimes, San Francisco are reporting that Camping has deserted his followers. Camping is in hiding after his dramatic, worldwide., public rapture failed to occur. Devastated followers are now taking the brunt of Campings' lies.

The 60-year-old retired transport worker bought $140,000 worth of advertising to help spread Camping's message of doom.

sad, very sad. They may find Camping dead somewhere. I know he's still on earth somewhere.
What is it about us that believes in such things to our harm? Why do some believe all they are told, invest in the unreal and seem oblivious to others pointing out the stupidity of following such fantacies?
I made a personal vow to myself that if the day ever came where HWA or some WCG loon announced "we are fleeing to Petra" etc, I was done with the Church. Common sense seemed to tell me this was all speculation gone nuts.
I have docuemented my disdain for Gerald Waterhouse's visits from the way back when I first started as a pastor. I tolerated the visit then spend a few weeks undoing the fear generated by it. He always gave me dumb shit work to do with my congregation after he left.
He and others I suppose succumb to being what all I can call as "God Haunted." It's a mind virus.
What if Camping planned this scam for his own personal disappearance? How weird would that be? Never to be found again. We'll see. My sense of this is that he may end up or is already dead. Or not...ha :)
If even HWA, who really did know about some biblical teachings, could not correctly guess when the end of the age would be, what did you expect from some ham-eating, Sunday-keeping ignoramus like Camping? He has EVERYTHING wrong!!!

Just because HWA took his bible passages out of context in a way different than that of mainstream Christianity, should in no-way lend credence whatsoever to the the book itself.
It's like reading Aesop's fables and knowing not to cry wolf just yet because you think you can predict when the wolf will really appear, all the while scoffing at the other person also reading the same story and crying wolf now. In the end, you're both just reading a fairy tale. Not only do you not know when the wolf will show up, there is no wolf to begin with.
Put down the bronze age fiction ;-)
