Oh the wonderful legacy of Armstrongism!
The former WCG members are a couple of minutes into the video:

Well, that was sweet in a saccharin sort of way. Same old superstitous, feel good crap though.

True freedom comes in realizing you don't need a god or a religion to be complete and abundantly happy. What's to be gained by jumping from the frying pan into the fire?

I don't need the fictitious Jesus or the fictitious scriptures touting him. Jesus of Nazareth, indeed. Nazareth never existed:

Every human can find peace and happiness within themselves, without imaginary beings. But it isn't easy for many people because for some, the process of sitting down and logically analyzing your life, personality, and thoughts is hard work. It's mentally exhausting. It is much easier to throw up your hands and put it all on an imaginary being.

Rational living takes mental discipline. Belief in god doesn't.

You're right, Paul. It is exhausting at times, but the peace within is worth it.

Life has become so much easier for me since I realized that being tied up in knots by supposed requirements of an ethereal supreme being was an exercise in futility, and I abandoned it all.

I no longer worry about unclean meats, when Friday sunset comes, etc., etc.

When I earn a dollar, it's mine and I spend it as wisely or as frivolously as I choose. I'd pattern my life after the Jew who threw his money up in the air and let "god" take whatever he wanted, but I don't recognize that there is anyone to take it. So, I don't bother.

For peace, sometimes fully qualified psychiatrists are helpful.

The problem I have is that the good ones move on from my HMO (I don't think they left because of me, but you never know, especially after I tell them about the Armstrongist cult as background -- their professional opinion: You armstrongists are freakin' nuts!).

People, people, people! Members of cults exist for only one reason: To provide for the Founder / Leader(s). That includes money, money, power (which includes money), prestige (elegant narcissism), and, of course, money (in the form of salaries, retirement and really expensive material things, like gold, silver (a distant second) and crystal).

If they have to control every aspect of your life, that is what they will do. You are an objectified asset. They don't want you to escape.

They lie to you, then they take your money.

Beware: Exposing them for all they are worth is risky (but ultimately worth it).
