Official Spokesman of the Living Church of God Publishes New Book

Bob Thiel, the Official Spokesperson of the Living Church of God on prophecy and doctrine, has just published another book.  This will most likely join a long line of screeds against the Catholic church that no one ever reads.  His biggest audience will be COGers and anti-Catholic evangelicals who think he knows what he is talking about.

The prophet writes:

For those unfamiliar with Fatima, Fatima was the name of Muhammad’s favorite daughter.  Muslims often name their daughters Fatima (similar to Catholics naming their daughters Mary).  A small town in Portugal was renamed Fatima after a Muslim princess named Fatima converted to Roman Catholicism.  In 1917, three children claimed to have a series of monthly visits from an apparition who finally identified herself with the rosary.  The apparition is known as “Our Lady of Fatima” or “the Virgin of Fatima” (she never referred to herself as Mary).  Hollywood did a movie about this decades ago called The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima (which I have seen).

The apparition, which many in the Catholic world believe was Jesus’ mother Mary, gave various “secrets,” several of which were not written down until after they had apparently been fulfilled.  Many believe that Fatima holds the key to the future and that the forces of evil can be stopped if various portions of the messages of Fatima are heeded.

------

Although most non-Catholics do not think that Fatima can affect them, if they live long enough this century, they will find that this is not the case.  Fatima is a much bigger deal than people realize and seems to tie into a variety of prophecies throughout the Bible (e.g. Isaiah 47, Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 17).

The truth about Fatima, the messages of Fatima, the “secrets” of Fatima, the Vatican’s views of Fatima, and how Fatima is expected to impact the future are all covered in detail in Fatima Shock!

Fatima Shock! also, and mainly from Catholic writings, exposes where the “rosary” came from, where many “dogmas of Mary” came from, and explains how Satan has used apparitions in the past to interfere with the Church of God and to promote non-biblical “Christianity.”  Fatima Shock! also explains what appears to be Satan’s plans for apparitions in the future based upon biblical and other prophecies.

Yes , learn the true origins of the rosary and how Satan uses "apparitions" to fool Catholics throughout history. That sounds like a book I have no desire to read, although I'm sure I'll laugh along when a few passages get posted.

Whoever gave this man a Ph.D made a mistake.

If any man in the ACoGs would know how Satan works, it would be Robert Theil, I would reckon.

The longest surviving of the three children who witnessed the apparition at Fatima was Lucia dos Santos. She was 10 years old at the time. Children loved and adored LĂșcia. She was a fabulous storyteller with a "gift for narration."

So how much of the story was real, and how much was an incredible imagination ??

It seems likely that Thiel is about to make a big(ger than ever?) fool of himself. If you go to his website and read his ramblings on Fatima and related Catholic topics, it becomes clear that Thiel takes as a serious source the "Fatima Crusader" movement led by defrocked priest Nicholas Gruner. Yet Sr. Lucia herself made public statements contradicting Gruner's assertions about Fatima, and Gruner is a pariah even among most of the Vatican-rejecting "traditionalist Catholic" movement. If Thiel is getting his "facts" about Fatima through the Fatima Crusader, he is about to make a huge fool of himself on the world stage, having ascribed credibility to a wacky splinter cult of Catholicism that makes many corridors of Armstrongism look balanced and sane by comparison.

that makes many corridors of Armstrongism look balanced and sane by comparison

Granted for those of us who lived through decades of unbalanced and insane Armstrongism, that might be true, but really, objectively speaking, from the outside view, Armstrongism is nothing but a collection of pathetic kook weirdos without one shred of reality: We've just been conditioned to accept the proposition that Armstrongism is a bit odd, when, in fact, it is absolutely over the top.

And congratulations to Booby Thiel for making Armstrongism look as crazy as it really is, yet again.

I wonder if he's going to go to a pre-screening of a Fatima Science Fiction / Horror movie by the picture company's executives again this time?

Name of the movie? Contest anyone?

Why would anyone in any of the Armstrongist organizations put any stock in the supposed visions of some Catholic woman? Even if you believe she really did have a vision, wouldn't you be conditioned to believe that it would be the work of a lying spirit, and therefore, not to be believed? So why write a book giving credence to it? What's next from Mr. Thiel? The Big Book of Catholic Prophecies?

And what's with the tabloid title? Fatima Shocker! What the Vatican doesn't want you to know! Right underneath a story about how Brad is cheating on Angelina! "Read what Jennifer Aniston is saying about it!" OMG! Is Jennifer not over Brad yet?

Theil is to LCG what Dankenbring was to WCG. They'll force his hand, eventually, at which point he'll probably grow a beard and wear special garments as he issues his latest proclamations.

Does Dr. Bob believe demons were responsible for the "Miracle of the Sun" at Fatima? Or does he accept the standard medical explanation that when you look directly at the sun, its image imprints on your retina such that you see a "dancing sun" no matter where you look, with the length of the phenomenon depending on how long you had looked at the sun?

"Fatima Shock!"

Faulty wiring.

When I was in the WCG and then the UCG, and then even in the PCG, It never ceased to amaze me how folks would ramble on about the Fatima prophecies as if they were the latest book of the bible. Crazies.

Where is Bob Thiel going with that book anyway? Are we supposed to be edified somehow by it? Are we supposed to learn something from those of the Catholic Church?

It makes me wonder about what Bob T may have done with the following admonitions:

Jeremiah 10:2 "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them."

:3 "For the customs of the people are vain..."

In fact, is even Rod Meredith paying any attention to Bob's writings in that recent book of his?

First the Mayans, now Fatima. I'm thinking these people are losing the focus they once thought they had. It's also possible that they are frustrated about relative visibility and being upstaged. After all, they believe that they are God's true messengers and as such should be brought into the forefront during the end times, yet are actually losing traction and rapidly slipping into invisibility.

I think Al Portune Sr. said it best when he described a dream he had about everyone being caught up to meet Jesus Christ, and he kept swinging his arms into an upward position and saying "Here we go!", but to his horror he remained on the ground while watching everyone else rise. That's about the position the ACOGs are in right now, just as was William Miller before them!

The LCG and Rod Meredith are cash hungry deceivers who have nothing good to say about any other Christians. They interpret scripture to suit themselves and lie constantly about the Catholic Church. Are they just jealous? Are they their own prophesied antichrist?

Bob Thiel is about as much of a biblical and historical scholar as Donald Trump is a statesman. After attending a Catholic high school he has made a living misrepresenting Catholic Church teachings and doctrines. He has no credibility outside his cult organization.
