Church of God Eternal: Satanic Ministers On The Loose in COG's

People get angry with me for pointing out the shenanigans of Church of God ministers, yet they are hypocritically silent when COG organizations make accusations against all the other COGlets.

The Church of God Eternal has a letter up warning the faithful to beware of the satanic influence of ministers and leaders in the COG who are leading people astray. What he writes is true, that the minsters are leading the "faithful" away from truth since that has been the standard operating procedure for the COG since it's inception.  Sadly, COGE fails to realize that what they are accusing others of is the exact same thing that they are doing to their own members.  This letter is a damning indictment against the Church of God Eternal too!

The work of deceiving spirits is evident in the church today. Satan's own ministers, who appear as ministers of righteousness, are teaching his lies. They are not following Jesus Christ. They have wormed their own way into the church of God and have seated themselves on doctrinal boards and have assumed teaching positions in churches. They work from within as an official part of the church organization. Using subversive tactics, Satan's ministers have subtly and skillfully taken control. Under their control, the Truth of God is changed little by little into a lie. The doctrines are so cleverly worded and so skillfully presented that even staunch believers cannot detect it.
What he describes below sounds exactly like COGE!  They use scripture to sound impressive while promoting heretical garbage as truth.
Because they know how to twist the truth, their false doctrine looks and sounds blessedly true. What can be wrong? Yes, the Word of God is the Truth, but handling it deceitfully produces error. Their interpretation of God's Word is backed by clever arguments of philosophy and theology with intellectual-sounding words. They appear to be words of wisdom and logic, but they are truly Satanic and diabolical. They are not dividing the word of Truth honestly; the scripture is being used, but dishonestly.

By handling the Word of God deceitfully, false teachers lead the people into spiritual blindness. Because they are walking in blinding darkness, they do not perceive that they are headed for a dangerous fall. They are like the man who built the ship, Titanic. The man believed in his own mind that even God Himself could not make the ship sink. But alas, the ship sank, killing many people.

These false teachers and false apostles had succeeded in infiltrating the church of God by the 1970s and were actively changing the true teaching of Jesus Christ and perverting the gospel.
COGE fails to see that the original false teacher started decades before the 1970 debacles.  Try 1936 when Herb popped on to the scene.  A rebellious man who refused to follow the authority of the church that ordained him, who created his own set of extra-biblical doctrines and who split off to start his own church all on the whim of a nightmare Loma had.  Bad dreams produce bad results and the current state of the Church of God's prove that.

What recent or pending doctrinal changes are these people getting so worked up about? I am so far off the xcg grid that I have no clue what the controversial issues are.

I think COGE has been stuck in the seventies ever since those godless liberals tricked HWA into changing the marriage/divorce doctrine. My guess is they get worked up over anything that has changed or threatens change over the last forty years.

For the record, Herb changed the marriage/divorce doctrine in order to marry Ramona.

It suited him so he changed it. Never mind all the broken homes he created with the original doctrine. No that don't matter. What mattered was Herb and Herb alone. Fuck everyone else!

"Satanic Ministers On The Loose in COG's"

I have to agree. It is too obvious to ignore any longer.

Again, I ask the author of this article, what religious organization are you affiliated with?

I think a healthy debate on the merits of the doctrines that the WWCG espoused would be an interesting topic here. I'm not interested in people bashing. We have all made mistakes (Moses,Aaron, David, Solomon, Peter, and yes, Mr Armstrong). Also, we must make a distinction between administration and doctrine. they are two separate entities and have nothing to do with each other.
That understood, who would like to discuss weather or not the DOCTRINES adopted by the WWCG, were biblically founded or not.

Case closed. Doctrines are founded in the Bible...

From my personal experience, COGTE was a good church organization up until 2001, but it was 2003 where the problems really started for it. Pertinent literature was removed from the archives in 01, and the entrance of a couple of men in 03 not approved for the ministry, but yet allowed to speak, has seen it struggling with problems up until this very day. A handful of teachings have changed during this time, but those came down from the lead pastor. Baptism and teaching on the just what the church really is, to name two. They did not change overnight either. Ironically, they changed just as stated in the excerpts from the monthly letter posted on this blog. These are all documented via audio and writings.

Members are cornered by fear in these organizations, and fail to exercise their right to contend for what they believed initially, and got baptized for. It is my recommendation, that people wake up and strip the scales from their eyes. Do not fear to read your Bible and let it interpret itself in context. Dust off your old material, it was written for you as a historical means to know what to do in times of trouble.

That's all.

Hello am the one who wrote that letter,am in Kenya and i have background in world wide church of God,i have seen many doctrine are being changed every year.
Thanks

Why are you still writing for them if they have changed teaching? Are you not supposed to call them accursed?

I beg to differ with all the negative and at times shameful comments posted here in regards to this splinter group. I attend their services. I know their pastors. I fellowship with them. I have yet to meet with a more caring group of people. They love trurth above all else. Their leaders lead in love and truth. They care about their flock and show it. I have seen absolutely not one doctrinal change since this groups inception. Not one. Of all the groups that I have looked at, this one has the most sound doctrinal foundation of them all. What I see in this room are people with empty hearts and confused minds trying make a case for their contempt against Truth. The Truth of God Almighty. I have seen nothing vaguely resembling facts here. At least no facts that support the arguments. Bring them to the table. If you have none to offer then refrain from contributing to the discourse at hand. That is Satan's way. Bring truth. Honor yourself and the God you profess by using it. ONLY words that are backed up by historical and biblical facts should be used here. Do any of YOU claim to follow a false GOD? Is YOUR GOD the real GOD? Then honor him by being truthful and honest. The discussion here is about this group and no other. What are its DOCTRINAL flaws? Let's put these to the test of the Holy Scriptures. Speak truth or don't speak at all.

PART I
Mr. Durham,

Assuming that is your real name, I would like to apologize for what is going to be a long-winded reply to your post. I would also like to say that the founding pastor of COGTE, up until the time of his death, was a faithful servant according to my knowledge.

I agree with you when comments about a particular splinter group are made out of anger, and void of facts and truth. It is shameful. However, I will dispel the notion for you, that this is the case regarding the particular splinter group in question, as it exists today under it's current leadership.

You cannot look at most of the "major doctrines" held within this organization, and point out a glaring change. When you look at Monday Pentecost for example. The change you would look for there, is a change to a different day. That would be glaringly obvious. This is what happened in 1974, which you no doubt know. Similar statements can be made about other major doctrines such as Divorce and Remarriage. Sadly, this is the "only" type of change that splinter group members look for today, because they have been conditioned to. This allows for free course of all of Satan's other avenues of deception.

let's talk about "truth and change". We know that truth cannot change, therefore, anything which is spoken from the pulpit for those hearing the message to live their lives by and practice their belief, should be above board, correct? How an individual colors a subject when given the pulpit, can make a world of difference in the direction Christians will walk. It does not matter if it is by 2 degrees, or 200, error is error. Please see Mr. Brisby's letter from February 2002 entitled "The Truth and Nothing but the Truth". This is currently on their website. At that time, he had it spot on. Also, you can refer to the Apostle Paul's statement in Galatians 1:8-9. Keep in mind, one slight change in a doctrine that is intended to place the practicing Christian on a different path than they were originally, is deception and error. It is all that is required by the holy scriptures to warrant leaving a physical organization. Some would use Mr. Cole and the details surrounding his departure from WWCG in the 70's, as the prime example to warrant leaving an organization. Although that is a good example, Christ and his teaching on the matter, is what we look to first. Please see Mr. Raymond Cole's monthly letter from November 1978 for further clarification on departure from a physical organization. I will detail two changes that are rather significant, the rest I will list for the sake of keeping this post shorter, rather than longer. Also, please keep in mind that every piece of information referenced in this post, is real and documented. You said to honor my God by being truthful and honest, so hear it is in no particular order.

(PART II)
In 2011, just 2 days after the Feast of Tabernacles, Mr. Robert Litz, a man vehemently upheld as being a legitimate shepherd to the flock by Mr. Jon Brisby, gave a sermon entitled "Peter's Preeminence". First, anyone with an ear, should have been able to detect this as being Catholic Doctrine. Secondly, it was never what Mr. Cole taught from the pulpit. A multitude of his audio recordings bare that out in no uncertain terms. Neither does it compare with what Jesus taught in the Bible. If it were just for these two items alone, we might dismiss it as Mr. Litz making a mistake in bringing over old corrupted material from his former affiliation, PCG. However, that should have never been the case if the claim the two Litz brothers made in listening to over 800 of Mr. Coles tapes, was true. They would have known what was taught to the brethren for more than 20 years, and spoke accordingly. Now, for the icing on the cake. This sermon given by Mr. Robert Litz, was not his material. In fact, it was material authored by Fred Datallo with the Philadelphia Church Of God in 2003. A group Mr. Litz called apostate, with apostate teaching. I will provide the link to the article here for reference: https://www.pcog.org/articles/1274/was-peter-the-chief-apostle. Robert Litz read this article nearly word for word from the pulpit, and pawned it off as inspired speaking to the brethren. So why would he do what he did and teach PCG's corrupt doctrine to COGTE brethren? Maybe it was because he lacked sermon material for that Sabbath, because it was only two days post feast. Maybe he really did harbor the belief that one man was the head of the Church. Who know's, who cares. The bottom line, was that it was corrupt teaching to the church. Mr. Brisby to this day, still supports the teaching, because it is still available for order on the website. I will admit, the teaching does serve a purpose. It keeps God's people looking to a man, rather than Christ.

Let's talk about Church Administration, COGTE fundamental #22. The boundary of this doctrine was already being stretched prior to 2009. September 17th of 2009, a message was given that absolutely obliterated it. The title of this message was: "A special message to the Eugene and Vancouver congregations". This recording was marked on the CD "not for distribution". So the only people in the entire physical group of Church of God, The Eternal that heard the message, were Eugene, OR and Vancouver, WA brethren. Does that make sense? If the Church is a "Spiritual Entity" and is supposed to be of "One Mind", then why are there politics employed with a message? This message was given because of a problem Mr. Brisby was addressing within the church. He was so angry and arrogant at this point in time, I guess he felt that this doctrine was of no importance anymore. If you listen to the message, you will hear the great amount of error. This one message alone, was reason enough for everyone hearing it in real time, to get up and walk out.

(THIRD AND FINAL PART)
These are just two significant issues that are black marks on this organization. Listed below, are many other areas of teaching that have significant problems. All have documented proof in either writings, or recordings. As compared to the Bible, and as compared to the teaching of the founding pastor, they run contrary.

Church Government, The Bereans, Baptism, Blessing of The Little Children, On Jesus and His "Heart" (black is what it was called by Mr. Brisby), Bible Translations, If you leave the organization - you lose your Holy Spirit & Ministerial Ordinations. These are most, but not all.

In your post, you stated regarding the ministry, and I quote: "They love truth above all else. Their leaders lead in love and truth. They care about their flock and show it. I have seen absolutely not one doctrinal change since this groups inception. Not one. Of all the groups that I have looked at, this one has the most sound doctrinal foundation of them all."

If they are willing to bend or change truth, then they do not love it above all else. If they bend or change truth, then they do not lead in love or truth. Therefore, they do not care about the flock, nor show it, unless it is a show. Doctrine is teaching. When Christ taught, every word that left his mouth, was something for you or I to live by. Ministers are commissioned to follow his example in every way, carnal flesh or not. If they step up to a pulpit, and speak error once, we might call it a mistake and look past it. If they continue to do it consistently, then that is deception on purpose. Either that, or they are being deceived. Either way, as Christians we are commanded to remove ourselves from this.

Mr. Brisby has the helm of that organization physically today. He can either work to straighten it's course, which would take humility and swallowing pride. Or, he can continue to further lead it into deeper waters. His choice.

I find it interesting, that your concern lies in the deciphering of a name, that which is not at the heart of the matter. What say you concerning the doctrine?

I still have yet to see the doctinal issues addressed in this post. Is doctrine not important anymore? Are organizations and personas what we look to, and feel safe with now?

Anonymous said...

There is no biblical support for a separation of "doctrine" and "administration." Jesus is the head of the church, plain and simple. Jesus' and the new testament writings clearly explain the "doctrine." You guys are missing the point, if you see error in a religious system, you go to the corner stone. Go to COGE website and read their "about us" section. They claim to still be holding on to the doctrines originally proclaimed by Herbert Armstrong.. what's wrong here? No mention of Jesus Christ maybe?? You see, worldwide, and every splinter group is in existence based on the concept that the truth was lost for 1900 years and was divinely revealed to a chosen prophet in the "last days." Has anyone considered that the very fact that HWA claimed the truth was lost, was the beginning of a false religion? If you study any of the other cults (witnesses, mormons, etc) they all have the same "lost truth restored by a prophet" false teaching. They also all have links to freemasonry and masonic mystery religion concepts. Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against his church. Jesus said He would be with us until the end of the age. Armstrong claimed the Philadelphia Era of the church began in 1934.. he also that year falsely predicted the return of Christ to come in 1936.. and a whole whole whole host of false prophecies through the decades. Read deuteronomy 18 to see how God feels about false prophecy. He was a false prophet from the very beginning. And as a false prophet, just like Russel,Young,Smith etc, he made a religion out of distorted twisted biblical scriptures all proclaimed in the "authority of God." Armstrong said we could become God as God is. Joseph Smith said "as man is, god once was. As God is, man may become." It's the exact same luciferian masonic heretical false teaching. Armstrong picked and pulled from the mosaic law. All according to him. "Divinely inspired." And now you have COGE, the closest to pre 70's worldwide, but they pick and pull from what armstrong picked and pulled! Either he was an end time prophet or not, so why not accept the package deal? Complete With Church eras, etc? Sadly, for the hopefull, who long to return to some glorious world wide era, it will never happen. Because God never let his church die (it's out there), and God never used a man as an incredibly important prophet who was also a false prophet, and guilty of the most heinous of crimes like incest with their own daughter. By their fruits you shall know them... did you really see good fruits accompany these doctrines? How many abusive broken families? How many children grew up wanting absolutely nothing to do with it? How many stubborn grumpy, angry, anti social, bitter people who "know the truth!" Do
you think God is grooming for His kingdom? Biblically, God's prophets never were sent to give Truth mingled with error. There is some truth there. The jehovahs witnesses also know the pagan origins of christmas, does that mean they are duty bound by God to stay just because there are some un disputable truths there? Hardly. Look to Christ and not to men, and He will open your eyes.

Heres my take; World wide was an personality cult, and so is every splinter group. They dethrone Christ, put themself in the seat of moses, claim they can make any rule or decision they want and God is duty bound to back them up because He binds in heaven whatever they say... it's exactly how the Catholic church began and destroyed the early church. First they subjected the masses to fear and subjection, once they have the sheep whipped, the laity conquering overlords start to inject subtle heresy to see which sheep are awake. Once they find the "black sheep" they find ways of subtly injecting derogatory demeaning teaching in their sermons directed at the problem individuals.. to either bring them back under the spell, compel them to leave, or excomunicate them, lest they awake other sheep and the wizard of oz be discovered. I've seen it happen time after time. No wonder Armstrong taught the bible was a coded book! You sheep are too stupid to understand it yourself.. you need a man to tell you what it REALLY means. The Jews may have been the keepers of the law, but their authority was revoked at the cross. The Holy spirit is the teacher of the spiritual law now. You really need to second guess any man or men that put themself in the seat of moses or justify pope like authority. Jesus said HE is the way, truth and life. He didn't say a man was.

Anonymous said...

Very well said "february 4th". I guess I would disagree on one point. I do believe there are some men, ones that truly can teach and guide and are led by the Holy Spirit to do so. That being said, I also believe they are few and far in between at this time. I think the majority as you described, have literally made a shamble out of the Church at large. Sadly, the group that I had left, most were asleep, and still are. Some are coming out of the fog, and that has been a joy to see.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't necessarily saying all ministers are bad, or not used by God. But Armstrongism was never Christ-centric, and the subsequent ministers didn't fall far from the bad apple tree.. it's not until you take Armstrong off his apostlish Elijahish pedestal, that you can begin to evaluate critically just what was truth, and what was error. And of the truth, did it really originate with him as he claimed?

I was baptized by Jon Brisby in 2014. (I'm commenting, I see, as anonymous. My phone keyboard won't let me change it), but anyway, this is Kandace. Some of you may have met me. I know Jon Brisby is a very kind, giving person. I do still get confused about Sunday Pencost, Monday Pentecost, not free to marry, yes free to marry, no real church eras, yes real church eras, etc. I'm not saying Jon Brisby confused me, just that over the years I was involved with LCG, UCG, and then kind of found COGETERNAL and RCG around the same time. I ended up coming with COGETERNAL, and being baptized, still,to be honest, I have trouble to this day seeing major differences between especially COGETERNAL and RCG, besides Pentecost and D & R. I take Mr. Brisby's word for it but some of us still struggle with understanding these differences and I was taught WCG doctrine since my childhood, although my parents were wishy-washy and never got baptized. I am in no way bad mouthing the church, never but it can be confusing at times separating truth from error.

Hello again. This is Kandace from the message above. I just want to remark that as of March 31st, I have left the church, COGE and will be involved in no other cog groups either. I found out HWA plagerized work from a man named GG Rupert, among others. HWA was also an arrogant, adulterous, lying con artist. The cog ministers are con men also, for the most part. I think Mr.Brisby is a victim of his upbringing and really believes he is heading God's true church. I will now study the bible on my own and am also perusing studies in the basic Quaker beliefs of peace, simplicity, integrity, etc. I hope others break free of this Armstrong obsession as well.

Kandace, he also molestednd raped his own daughter for a decade.. the same decade he was being "revealed the truth" for the first time in 1900 years... falsely prophesied the second coming of Christ multiple times. Falsely gave dates in which he said the bible confirmed disastrous events would happen, and completely reinvented the holy day system.. because the biblical Holy days revolved around the temple.. you can't just pick and chose how you want to do them. The feast of tabernacles celebrated by cog groups is nothing like the bible. What gave a pervert false prophet the right to dictate how to do holy days? Which apostle was also a false prophet? Which apostle was a sexual pervert? GG Rupert, jh Allen, Charles taze russel, Ellen white, all plagiarized, in some cases word for word. He didn't even atleast give credit to where he got views from, he claimed he was divinely revealed..

For those of you that claim that God could not use a man like Mr. Armstrong because he is alleged to have did this and that to his daughter soon forget that God did use a murder in Moses and a polygamist David and a murder in the Apostle Paul. So a lot of you people should cast the first stone that is without sin. None of us are sinless before God because He Himself said that there are non righteous n not one. And that mean none out of the perhaps 30 to 50 billion people that have been born and died in the history of man on the earth. Which one of you sin not? Which one of you can go a single day without one sin? We all sin on a daily if not hourly basis and if not for the grace of God none of us would make it into the Kingdom of God.

So some of you that were in the WCG or one of it's splinter groups that came out of the world have went back into it. You who once kept Chirstmas but for a while believed that it was pagan, have you once again gone back to the vomit that you came out of when you were a member of the WCG or one of it's splinter groups. How many of you if you were back in Moses days would have said, "this guy is not being used by God because he killed that Egyptian and tried to hide him in the sand and when he got caught fled to the wilderness for 40 years.? Some of you would have ended up in the bowels of the earth because you would have said just like those rebel that this man is not being used by God (Moses). Or which of you would have bad mouth Moses like Marian did and God would have to turn you while like snow. God says He doesn't think that way we lowly humans do, so who are we to say what God doesn't do. Remember when Samuel was sent to Jessie house to find David and even the great Samuel was looking at appearance and not the heart like God say He does. Lots of you very wise people know that in all the Bible God did use one single man to get His truth to them. Why would He be any different today, since He says He changes not. The same yesterday, today and forever.
