Ron Weinland Off To Jail For 3 1/2 Years With Big Bubba

I just love it when the courts get all Biblical on Weinland.  3 1/2 years jail time, a time of intense persecution or a time of safety and final training.  Let's see how the spiritual deviate spins this one!

Mike is reporting the following on his blog.

District Judge Danny Reeves pronounced sentence on False Prophet Ronald Weinland this morning:
  • A sentence of 42 months
  • Followed by 3 years of supervised release
  • A fine of $7,500
  • Restitution in the amount of the criminal tax loss, approximately $245,000

Oh, come now: This is Federal Prison, which we all expect to be upscale.

Maybe he can learn a new skill by taking the cooking class started by Martha Stewart.

And that's a good thing.

I'm assuming that Laura will drive him to prison in the BMW....

It will be interesting to see how many followers he still has when he gets out of jail.

In my opinion any minister that preaches tithing should be put behind bars. They take advantage of the fact that many look at them as being Gods mouth piece. they are looked on as having spiritual authority and that they are preaching Gods will. The result being that we better listen and do what the preacher tells us to do because God is speeking through him. This is rubbish. Yet even many in main stream churches view ministers in such a manner. Such is the nature of religion.

RW should have gotten the same amount of time as Al Capone did for tax evasion. Too bad Alcatras is not in operation :(

I agree with Douglas. He's going to the Federal Pen, and I'm sure it's going to be a fairly low security one at that. Not that losing your freedom isn't painful, it just isn't the rape fest many people make it out to be.

For the record Painful Truth, most violence that occurs in prisons is usually same race on race. Even in state prisons, it's not a free for all.

Ron on completion of his sentence may exit a better golf player that Barack Obama! Tax cheating may have its benefits!

Had to be 3-1/2 years. Just had to be.

HAHAHAHAHA.

More evidence of his chosen status.

Oh, brother, here we go.

He'll probably come out proclaiming that his 3-1/2 years were the first half of the tribulation, or some such nonsense.

Federal and state prisons are generally classed or graded, according to the types of offenders being housed there. White collar criminals are generally incarcerated with other nonviolent criminals. I once knew someone who did 48 months for mail fraud in the federal pen at Nellis Air Force base. Basically, he spent his time cleaning the base's bathrooms. His demeanor didn't appreciably change as a result of the time he did there. Had he done time in San Quentin, his experience would have been more in keeping with all of the bad stereotypes.

Sentencing Ron Weinland to 3 1/2 years and time deferred for Christmas holidays makes me wonder if the Judge did some due diligence research on WCG and its splinters' doctrines and beliefs before imposing his sentence.

It's poetic justice at its finest!

Thank you for the thought, Painful Truth.

Mostly the parts I was born with are satisfactory, but thinking about how that greedy old Ron Weinland screwed his followers just makes me want to return the favor, and I can't. Oh wait. People tell me prosthetic devices are available.

P.S. On an unrelated note, I know a philosophy major who says he could believe in a god if more words matched up the way these two do: STRAP ON spelled backwards is NO PARTS.

When I originally commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time a
comment is added I get three emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?

Thanks a lot!
