Bob Thiel: More Tornadoes, More Bad Weather, All Because God Is Punishing Them For Being Such Grievous Sinners Sinners

More tornadoes hit the heartland last night, and one even struck Moore OK again.  As usual, the  non-ordained self-appointed prophet Thiel is back telling the citizens of the Midwest that they are being punished by God for their dirty sins.  For some reason Bob takes delight in promoting such an angry pissed off god.

The Bible shows that whirlwinds are one of the forms of weather that God controls:
3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
And will not at all acquit the wicked.
The Lord has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet. (Nahum 1:3)
God teaches that because of disobedience He will scatter people and use a whirlwind:
8 Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, 9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.
10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,
The alien or the poor.
Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother.’
11 But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. 12 Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. 13 Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts. 14 “But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.” (Zechariah 7:8-14)
21 A cyclone sweeps them up — gone!
Not a trace of them left, not even a footprint.
22 Catastrophes relentlessly pursue them;
they run this way and that, but there’s no place to hide —
23 Pummeled by the weather,
blown to kingdom come by the storm.’
(Job 27:21-23, THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson.)

Then to reinforcehis tornado metpahores he resorts to Jeremiah:

The following, presuming it is intended literally, indicates that there will be a very major tornado in the time of the end:
9 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord has gone forth in fury —
A violent whirlwind!
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.
20 The anger of the Lord will not turn back
Until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart.
In the latter days you will understand it perfectly. (Jeremiah 23:19-20)
23 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord
Goes forth with fury,
A continuing whirlwind;
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.
24 The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it,
And until He has performed the intents of His heart.
In the latter days you will consider it. (Jeremiah 30:23-24)

Bob never quotes from the Gospel messages but slobbers all over Hebrew scriptures meant for a certain people at a certain point in time.

God uses weather and other events to try to get people’s attention.
God does not want people to suffer, but to turn to Him:
10 “Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we pine away in them, how can we then live?”‘ 11 Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ (Ezekiel 33:10-11)
God wants people everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). He uses weather for correction and for His mercy (Job 37:13).

I bet if everyone repented and came to Bob in a humble spirit, tornadoes would still kill scores in the midwest in spring. Just a feeling I have....

Bob! The Storm God Baal has been replaced long ago with knowledge of low pressure systems. Grow up you fool.

And here I'd have thought Bob would say God controls all forms of weather. Maybe things like scattered showers or snow squalls are out of his domain...

The ultimate punishment for sin is being condemned to read this boring, uncreative, repetitious, hateful blog.

Kinda funny that most all tornadoes are in "the bible belt", isn't it? You know, those "God Bless America" states where they would sacrifice virgins to the river to stop a flood if they thought that's what God wanted.

I bet if everyone in the whole world repented and become "true" Xians, there would still be storms. There are big wind storms on Mars and there's no one there to commit sins...wonder why that is?

Twisters are punishment from God?! Hasn't Thiel read about the tower of Siloam or those Jews whose blood Pilate mingled with their sacrifices? What did Christ say about them? That they deserved their fate coz they were wicked and worse sinners than people in the ACOGs?!
Be careful Thiel!
Death, injury and disasters befalling people are NOT a sign of their spirituality (or lack thereof) nor that they're being punished by the Christ!
You cannot control the way you will die anymore than Meredith can! Such is out of human hands and is not a measure of how good or bad you've been in life!
Remember how Christ died?

Some of you sound like my wife. She says things such as, 'We have always had this or that, so why pay attention?'

I acknowledge that yes we have always had this and that, but we have not had this vast number of them or had so much in a small time frame.

The point of the matter is when should one pay attention? At what point should we caught ourselves and say that we need to sit back and take a serious look at this?

Is it wise to simply ignore what is happening around us? Is what is happening around us, normal? When in your mind or mine, is it wise to acknowledge that someone is trying to get our attention?

What does it take? A city block? Half a city? A whole city? What about an entire State? What about an entire country?

Has any thought gone through your head when you see pictures of total destruction and there on one street is one house that appears totally untouched. One house amongst hundreds/thousands of destroyed homes all around this one house.

If anyone thinks that this is 'normal' then that one is more dense than lead, and I for one, would never pay heed to what this person says or thinks, for how can one communicate with such a one that has no spiritual discernment what so ever, neither have they any common sense.

It is truly sad when hate and bitterness leads one down this path that they don't know their left hand from their right.

The person who wrote this
is either...

1) A total fucking moron
or
2) He's just trying to cause trouble here

Hey, I have a great idea!

Let's find a neighborhood that was destroyed by a tornado, but has one house left standing.

Then, at that one house left standing we can ring the doorbell and ask which god they worship.

We'll then all worship whatever god they worship.

Excellent logic!
Sound like a good plan!?

(But what if they are Raëlians or Creflo Dollar devotees?)

Anti-theists, at least the Randian Objectivist variety, do not accept personal experience as proof of God's existence or intervention.

The house still standing: More information is needed here about the people who own or were occupying it. I personally believe that if the occupants were praying for protection, God could have answered their prayer. I believe, however, that most Christians would not only be praying for the protection of their own family, but also for the protection of everyone else in their community, or at the very least, their friends and neighbors.

Tornadoes are fairly unpredictable in their paths, and the damage which they do, so it's possible that a house still standing is part of the natural phenomenon.

Personally, if I were in a house in the tornado's path, were praying, and the house was spared, I would be thanking God when it was all over, going out to help my neighbors who were not so fortunate, and using my home as a comfort station to help as many neighbors as possible. And, I wouldn't be bragging or inviting the neighbors to my church. That sort of behavior smacks of elitism, and is almost guaranteed to cause resentment.
