Richard Armstrong on "One of the cutest things I've ever seen"

I remember hearing sermon after sermon about what a spiritual giant Richard was and that if he had not died because a car accident [because his own father had refused medical treatment that would have saved his life] he would have been the COG's greatest leader.  GTA was  known early on to be a rebel while Richard was a "stalwart in the faith."

Richard apparently had a lot of issues in his life given some of the sermons he is on record as giving.

Here is a quote that Richard Armstrong gave in one of those sermons.  This just goes to show that Richard was as big a spiritual degenerate as his father was. Here is a man who claims to represent God, yet takes great delight in child abuse.  Even worse is the church members sit there and chortle at the story.  The brainwashing was complete.

Here is this sick little anecdote he relates. Strangely enough, he and the audience, seems to think this is quite amusing. He is describing what one little boy did with his father. Just take a look.

One of the cutest things I've ever seen....And I've seen, and it's fantastic. I've never seen anything like this before. I've seen that boy ... take off his belt, hold it up to him, and say, Daddy, I was supposed to get a spanking this evening. (Audience laughs.) I'm not lying either. That's a fact. I've seen it happen. I've seen him remind his father that he had a spanking coming. I never did that. (Laughter.)

Richard Armstrong died when Don Billingsley was at least half asleep at the wheel after they were on a baptizing tour.

I'm glad Jesus killed him.

Thank you, Jesus!

Imagine if he'd become even more of an asshole than Herbert W Armstrong was?!

Thank you, Jesus!

Get over it Loma, you nasty scum!

I'm just so glad that HWA had no acceptable heir to take the throne of Armstrongism, so he had to give it to a stranger, who fucked his legacy up. Imagine if WCG had never been busted up into a million pieces by those greedy, lying, theiving, Tkach bastards. The lord works in mysterious ways, lol. The most important thing is that Armstrongism dies, never to be resurrected again, just like all of Herberts faithful followers.

Whoa, Anon 9:51.

If your Jesus kills people, then he, and you, can stay far from me.

What kind of toxic bullshit is that?

Agree with Richard Armstrong or no, death is tragic. It was a fluke accident, it happened, case closed.

Gloating over it is pathetic.

Then again, if you posted both at 9:51 and 10:07 just to make it look like posters here are pathetic, head back on over to Flurry's blog of perfection. At least there your comments will be censored.

With HWA as a father, what kind of children would you expect to come out from that environment? Was GTA's infidelity a way of showing that he really was a grown up, rather than the "child" that HWA treated him as?

Speaking of killing, I know I had some mighty sinful thoughts towards the Imperial Schools mom who told my mother that the correct response of a child following a spanking was to pull up one's pants, turn, smile, and say "Thank-you, Sir!" (or Ma'am)! Is it any wonder so many of us learned to live a duplicitous Eddie Haskell type lifestyle? Sure did love my cigarettes, beer, and rock n roll during my precious hours away from home each day!

I must say that there is a lot of information being presented that is appalling, but it seems to me that there are also are many things that reflect human degradation.
Richard Armstrong died the year I was baptized and it was a tragedy that is common today. Those who gloat over the death of a human being have no understanding of the value of the human life. I am a lot closer to the end of life than most of those commenting here, but that doesn’t cause me to rejoice in those who die at any age.
I have spent many hours with people who were dying and those who die peacefully will be those who respect the true value of human life and those who sorrow when a loved one has died.

AD,
I only posted the first (9:51) post, and apologize for not being more clear, since what I wrote was tongue-in-cheek.
I actually would wish no premature death on anyone, although I was thinking about a "what if" in regard to when Richard Armstrong died when Don Billingsley was half asleep at the wheel of that automobile.

I's certainly a moot point now, as to whether Richard would have or wouldn't have made things worse in the wacky world of armstrongism.

It is totally sick to make a "spanked" child give thanks for the "spanking" he or she received.

There's nothing "cute" about it.
It's sick and cruel.

Asst. Deek ~ I suspect from the writing style that that was our holocaust denier, who also constantly bashes and cusses out select performers who buy time on TBN and Daystar. He seems to have different filters from most of us. I hope his hanging around with us helps him with his issues.
There's probably a nice person who has been hurt latent in there somewhere. After all, he did rethink his position and apologize!

"When the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy." Prov. 11:10, and ALL of the Armstrongs and the Tkaches ARE WICKED to the core!

Steve K. said “When the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy." Prov. 11:10, and ALL of the Armstrongs and the Tkaches ARE WICKED to the core!”
I must assume that this person knew all the Armstrongs and Tkaches personally to make such a statement and is perfectly righteous to be qualified to pass judgment on those who are wicked (morally depraved). It looks like he is a good candidate for the Restored Church of God.

You are glad that somebody died? Wow, if you're typical of the bunch who agrees with this blogger, you people are no better than those whom you wag your self-righteous fingers at!

Thanks for mentioning this, No2HWA. People need to know the truth about what really happened.

It made my skin crawl to hear him talk about that boy in that way. I cannot even imagine getting amused seeing a kid behaving in that way.

By the way, the father being discussed in that anecdote was Garner Ted Armstrong.

Richard David Armstrong was thought to be a better alternative than either Herbert or GTA.

Perhaps we should start thinking about getting only poisoned fruit from the poisoned tree.

I posted the first (9:51) post, tongue-in-cheek, and for some reason someone thought I am a "Holocaust denier" - I am certainly not one of those. In fact, I've spoken out against such stupidity the last time I noticed a Holocaust denier post on this blog, which, iirc, was months ago.

It's sad and crazy that with the historical resources we have today, that anyone would be so brainwashed as to actually deny that the Holocaust happened, or otherwise whitewash it.
