E. W. King: My Church Does NOT Support Democracy

E. W. King, the Church of God's greatest living apostle to ever walk this earth is back lecturing the church and the world about what democracy is, voting, and TRUE government. King still stupidly thinks his cult is the REAL Worldwide Church of God.  So when you see that word you need to remember it is describing his cult.

Now what I am about to reveal may shock some who have been involved in the Worldwide Church of God [COGSR]. You may have never been taught this before. Mr. H.W.Armstrong, Pastor General of original WCG, originally did vote. Mr. Armstrong voted for who was to become the next US President. He did pay attention to politics in his early life. What happened? When he saw that America [Manasseh] was turning from a God ordained National Republic to a Democracy he knew something was wrong. He stated in “Mystery of the Ages” that not too long after World War 2 this nation began losing its blessings.-

Why? The United States began to take advantage of the blessings that it was given. One thing that it was given was the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. These documents were given to latter-day Manasseh. Had the USA stuck with the original principles of Manasseh Government the church would have continued to vote for Godly men.-

The Worldwide Church of God rejects any idea of Democracy. The WCG believes that all government should be ruled from the top down, not from the “mob” up. God’s original intention was for a US Republic which was based on moral law as found in the Bible and outlined for social government in the United States Constitution. This way man did not ultimately answer to man but to God ordained law. We were originally a nation built on Law.-

Latter our country started saying that we are a “democracy” and stopped using the word Republic. This was the beginning of latter day Manasseh’s downfall.-

At least the King votes and allows his cult members to vote.  though, it is only for the most Righteous and Pure candidate that conforms to King's liking.

Those in our Church do vote for men and women that support the original Republic. We vote not to bring in perfect government but to show our support for stable government. The so called “conservative Christian” party, the Republicans, are being punished with a very liberal president, Obama. Why? They have become decadent and liberal. This current situation of things makes the Republicans look stupid. Most of the so called Republicans think like Libertarians. They have accepted homosexuality, divorce, certain drugs, unmarried couples living together [which is fornication], etc. Most of the so called “Christian” Republicans accept pagan holidays, pagan doctrines and are lost in the liberal Christian world of “evangelicalism”.-
----
Though our current President, Mr. Barack H. Obama has been perhaps more ridiculed than those in his position before him, we do not hate him nor do we see him as lesser than ourselves. We disagree with many of his decisions and we pray for him. He is the first black president. To live in this time is indeed to witness extraordinary events. We thank God that this nation has the guts and glory to go beyond the prejudiced barriers of the past.-

As true Christians COGSR is extremely different than all other so called “denominations”. We thank God that we have the right to express our opinions and to share what we believe to be and hold to be the Truth with others. We believe in the preservation of our religion. As the Seventh Era Leader of the true Worldwide Church of God my prayer is that if you have read this document that you will give us a chance to continue to share with you just what we believe in. May you go in peace and may God continue to show His great mercy on the United States of America.-
Little did Herbert Armstrong realize the stupidity that would be leashed upon the world because of his beliefs.

First of all, in a real democracy, the people are in charge, so they ARE at the top, and the politicians are supposed to be their servants, so the politicians are at the bottom. Therefore democracy IS a top-down system.

However, the USA is a totalitarian oligarchy run by special interests, the political parties, backroom deals, the privately owned Federal Reserve, hyper rich (often international) shareholders, and the media. It is NOT a democracy or even close.

We have proved British Israelism is fantasy rubbish: The United States is not a tribe of Israel, lost or not.

Therefore, everything that Eric King represents is utterly wrong and no one should listen to a word he says.

And if he says the sky is blue, you should go out and check just to be sure.

You can't blame the heads of church hierarchies for being against democracy. After all, those "heads" might just get voted out...

Then again, when the NT talks about a "kingdom", it means a "dom" with a "king" and his henchmen ruling over it. You know, the same thing that America fought a bloody war to get away from... In a kingdom there is the royalty, living high off the hog, and there are the common people - the hog...

The basic problem here is that King and his church attempt to dictate people's thoughts. That is the exact tone of his entire missive. He is screwing up bigtime, because according to what we read in certain ancient manuscripts which were translated from the Greek, we are told that that is the job of the Holy Spirit. I don't know why he would feel that he has the right to usurp that.

How I imagine COG leaders see themselves when they start fantasizing about church government and dreams of ruling with rods of iron:

That Holy Spirit telling one this or that is dicey at best and has been used to promote and excuse every form of religious abuse

Anon 3:32, Oddly enough, I agree with your statement, which actually, if you consider carefuly, agrees with what I originally stated. Why would both of our statements agree? Because the people who claim to be in charge of us portray themselves as the privileged. They expect us to believe that "their" Holy Spirit counts, or is double in portion, while "ours" is supposed by its very nature to be subservient to them. That results in a form of slavery not known in the early primitive church, and it is not slavery to God, but slavery to man. ACOG cult leaders are the modern day equivalent of slave owners.

I agree anon. That "the Holy Spirit wants us, leads us, tells us.." etc thing is questionable. How can you ever know? Never! It is a idea that leads a butthead to motivate with BS.

There is no way on earth and in human experience to know what any Holy Spirit "wants"

The "holy spirit" is a convenient way to say "my thinking is perfect while yours is flawed." It was so important to Paul and his program (actually the Roman Caesar's program) that he made it an unforgiveable sin to say anything against or offensive to the "holy spirit." A convenient little fear mechanism that keeps people paralyxed in abject subservience. I've known many who were sure they'd committed that sin, and it's a horrible state to be in.

4:58----maybe not in your house.

I believe people get prejudiced because of the way this has been taught. There is often a fine line between teaching or guiding, and making yourself someone's defacto boss. The way the authoritarians justify their existence and authority is by asserting that 1) You can't understand without them, and 2) Authority is needed to preserve unity (which always ends up being an illusion).

If God opens a person's mind so that they can understand that some authority figure is teaching "the truth", then He can also open a person's mind to understand truth without some authority figure, who incidentally often has stretch marks all over his hands from trying to grab all of the tithes.

The danger in being a lone ranger Christian is that you might make a mistake, or make a wrong choice, affecting one individual, yourself. The danger in having the authority figure as a sort of leader is that his mistakes are enforced to affect multiple people, and as we've seen, even the worst of these guys never admit the mistakes, though they end up in prison or suffer the shame and embarrassment of having their prophecies fail.

There is one leader. There can also be spiritual guides, but one must use extreme wisdom and discernment in consulting with them, especially in cases where what they are telling you conflicts with what you as an individual are hearing from God.

This is another example where the Armstrong model simply does not work.

Humans in all social and business endeavors must have accountability, feedback, cleansing mechanisms, and free market choice, as well as transparent and full disclosure.

If not, then there will always be varying degrees of dysfunction.

So, if the form of government is a democratic republic, and you call it a "republic" one day and the next day you refer to it as a "democracy" how does that change your form of government?

A) What makes you think that the United States is "Manasseh"?

B) What makes you think that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were "given" to the United States, presumably by some 'god'? The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and the Constitution was the brain-child of James Madison, but collectively written by the Constitutional Convention of 1787 in Philadelphia. But, if you actually meant that these documents were "given" by these fine fellows, then fine. But if you're suggesting that Thomas Jefferson was a "latter-day prophet" like Mormonism's Joseph Smith, well, Jefferson never claimed that the declaration was the translation of some gold plates he dug up at the direction of an heretofore unknown arc-angel. And if you're saying that the Constitution was "given" by some "god" are you saying that this "god" has therefore proclaimed that black people are only worth 3/5 of what white people are worth? Given the somewhat bigoted history of Armstrongism, it wouldn't much surprise me if this is where you are headed with this.

C) What makes you think that any "national republic," let alone that of the United States, are "god ordained," and in like manner, so sure that "democracies" are not?

D) Per my previous comment, in what way exactly did America "turn" from a "national republic" to a "democracy"? Are you referring the the Constitutional Amendments such as the Bill of Rights? Or how about the 13th Amendment that abolishes slavery? Is this an example of the "original principles of a 'Manasseh government'" that the United States is being cursed by your "god" for abandoning? How about the 17th that allows US Senators to be directly voted upon rather than appointed?

E) What do you mean by "godly men" that Herbert "would have continued to vote for"? By "godly men" do you mean "worldly" "pagan" "Protestant" "so-called-xians" who went to church on Sunday, celebrated Xmas and Easter, and did not keep "god's feast days," take your "Passover" or fast on your "Day of Atonement" and thus were irreconcilably "cut off from god"? Is that the sort of "godly men" you're talking about voting for? What is it exactly, in your eyes, transforms these "worldly politicians" and "fake xians" into suddenly "godly men" for the purpose of today's diatribe? Tomorrow will they not be once again recast as incorrigible reprobates and unsaved scum?

Armstrongists can't seem to avoid talking out of one side of their mouth for more than 50% of the time before switching over to talking out of the other side. The more extreme they get, the harder it is to rationalize what comes out of one side vs. what comes out of the other.

I don't hear a cotton pickin' thing! Yeah, my mind gets active and comes up with some startling things, even to me, once in awhile, but that has nothing to do with any deity. I just have a tolerable level of intelligence and try to use it creatively.

I don't think he would have given a fig about what might be unleashed upon the world. All he was interested in was his enormous ego and being able to play the wealthy know-it-all philosopher and philanthropist.

The only thing I will share with you is that God has led me to the realization that Armstrongism is a mess of shit.
