James Malm Says Bob Thiel and Other COG Leaders Are Cavorting With Demons

Poor Bob, the guy can never get any respect!

At this point we exclaim how terrible it is to seek out a familiar spirit [demon] about the future or anything else.  Yet we do exactly the same thing in the church of God groups!  What do I mean with the statement?  I mean that whenever we study the teachings of false religions of worldly men and apply then to keep them instead of going to the word of God; we are turning our backs on the word of God to consul with familiar spirits [demonic] spirits.

There is even one man who left LCG a year ago who styles hiself a prophet, who voraciously seeks out and studies the prophecies of any false religion that he can find, in order to find support for his own false prophecies.

I never met one human being who anyone who thought for a moment they were in a false religion made up by worldly men. These are observations by those who think they have found the true religion made up by godly men...but really haven't either. If you ask them, everyone is in the true religion and it is revealed by God's godly men, or they'd not be drawn to it.

Or ask one parent said to a a child who wanted to follow WCG.."So you think I brought you up in the false church????"

I agree Dennis.

The completely subjective nature of theology is one of my big beefs, not just with christianity, but with religion as a whole. And part and parcel with that subjective nature is the instability of theology, which is to say, that theologies on the whole do not coalesce around some gravitational center that over time more and more people conclude is at least in the general vicinity of "correct." Over time, theologies only proliferate, which I talked about on Van Robison's post a moment ago, and diverge. For example, between liberal and conservative theological views, there is no equilibrium point around which opinions settle. Not at all. The grass is always greener somewhere else, usually somewhere more, not less, extreme. The more conservative you become, the greener the pastures of even more extreme conservative views begin to appear.

Malm is a textbook case of how theological views can tend to slide over time away from rational, balanced positions toward increasingly extreme viewpoints. Malm didn't start out needing to calculate his own calendar and worshiping new moons. It's something he picked up along the way because it made him feel more righteous in the fanciful eyes of his "god" to do it than not to. Between now and his diabetic conclusion, there will be more things that will become appended onto his theology in just the same way. Meanwhile, anyone less conservative than Malm is "lukewarm," "consulting with devils," or worse, while anyone more conservative is "self-righteous." If by some trick of physics "James Malm of 25 years ago" with whatever his beliefs were then, suddenly started blogging alongside "current James Malm," he would say the say things about "James Malm of 25 years ago" as he's saying about Bob Thiel. In fact, James Malm would have no bigger nemesis than himself transported from some other time. And the same would be true of Bob Thiel if he were forced to deal with himself from another time.

So it goes for every cultish "true" believer. Each person subjectively believes they are in the one and only exact right position between righteousness and reasonable, while every other believer's position is exposed sooner or later to be "wrong," meanwhile, being completely unaware of how their position isn't fixed, but sliding around.

What we mean when we speak of the objective, is something that doesn't slide around over time, but stays relatively fixed and stable. Stable and objective is one thing theology and notions of god, even the same god, simply can never be. Biblical interpretations and perceptions about who the christian god must be have been adrift for two millenia, sliding around to fit the whims and fashions of each successive generation. The gods are, and have always been, reflections of ourselves.

I say lets settle these things "Bible Style"... ala David and Goliath.

Lets have Thiel and Malm come out with sling shots , armor , swords, or maybe wrestle all night like Jacob did.

In others words, man up like real Bible characters and punch it out. In my neck of the woods we do a lot more talking with our fists and lot less with our mouths in situations like this.

Loser leaves town , and gets his plugged pulled from the internet.

Come on boys, name the place and time and lets have God settle it like he has so many times in the scriptures.

Or are you both pussies?

Malm just wants you to switch from the whack job beliefs of others to his wackjob beliefs he promotes.

Several years ago, there was a site that linked into just about everything you could google with a picture very similar to that. It asked the question, What is this incident? Eventually someone found the picture's actual origin, explained it, and the site seems to have gone away.

Based on fruits, it is tempting to say that all of them are cavorting with demons, including those who accuse the others. One finger pointing at competitors, the other three back at self. But, scripture seems to indicate that the demons are currently restrained, to be released at some future time. Once again, these guys have no clue when they try to get involved in prophecy.

sad to see these so called men of God "biting" each other....

hmm, seems like the bible has something to say about that kind of behaviour....
