Philadelphia Church of God Takes Day Trip To Visit Herbert Armstrong Shrines In Seattle

The Holy Feet of Herbert W Armstrong walked on these tiles!

The PCG in Seattle recently had a fun day visiting all the sites in Seattle that has religions and historical significance to Herbert W Armstrong.

PCG Families Tour Seattle Historic Sites From the Life of Herbert W. Armstrong

WASHINGTON—Early on February 2, seniors, parents, teens and young children embarked on a historic tour of Seattle. Aboard a rented school bus filled to capacity, they rolled out of the Tacoma Mall to destinations that held significance in the church’s Philadelphia era, led by Herbert W. Armstrong.

The tour included important sites in Seattle, Everett and Tacoma where Mr. Armstrong worked beginning in the 1940s and into the early 1980s. Narrated with quotations of letters and advertisements written by Mr. Armstrong, the tour included photos of him at some of the locations.
“The 1940s proved to be a wonderful time in church history,” the tour brochure read, “as God guided His end-time Elijah through open doors and miracles to continue to grow His Work and to lead it on a path to reaching the largest audience possible. Fast forward to 1981, and God through Mr. Armstrong was working on trying to get the Worldwide Church of God back on track.”

They even visited a train station where HWA got on board a train.  He got on a damn train and this is historically significant??????????????  WTF is wrong with these people?

Next they saw Seattle’s Great Northern Railway station, where Mr. Armstrong had boarded the Empire Builder to travel east. He visited radio station managers along the way to increase the reach of the gospel message. The station was adjacent to the Seattle Seahawks football stadium, and surrounding streets were full of cheering Super Bowl fans.

Then they ended this glorious trip traveling to a mall that was built over the location where there used to exist a theater that HWA preached in.

Finally, the group wound up back at the Tacoma Mall at a doughnut shop, the former location of a theater where about 350 Worldwide Church of God members met for services in 1970 and 1978.
What can be said after this...Oy!

The last time I was in Astoria, Oregon, I admit to having been curious where some of the businesses he mentioned were, but a brief records search (which was all I felt like expending) was largely fruitless. Too bad, because much of downtown Astoria was relatively unchanged from a hundred years prior.

And here brethren is the commode that HWA used at the boarding stop at the train station.

If you look carefully at the platform, we believe this to be the dried gum spot from the dear Apostle himself.

Imagine, with every breath of air that you are now breathing, that perhaps a molecule or two of each gasp you take may contain molecules that were in the Modern Day Elijah's lungs himself!

--- Very sick stuff this PCG veneration of HWA. Makes the Catholics almost appear normal.

The thought of groups like the PCG almost worshiping Herbert Amstrong makes me want to vomit!

I will never understand how a church that dwells so on Old Testament law, including the commandments encompassing idolatry, would not make the connection between these commandments and what their church does with all things HWA.

Apparently they don't even feel a twinge of inner conflict.

Why don't they do a tour of the house where HWA was having sex with his daughter Dorothy 1936-1946??
Now THAT would be interesting!

Heh! I'm betting that if HWA had suffered from gynecomastia, all of the men in Flurry's church would be trying to grow female breasts!

Oh how these PCG people love to pretend they are better than other Christians by saying that it is sinful to portray Jesus in a picture or even to use a cross to identify yourself as a Christian and then they revere a man in such a way as they do to HWA.

They also conveniently ignore any words of HWA's that contradicts what HWA says.

HWA said the little book in Revelation 10 referred to him visiting world leaders in the 1970s. He wrote that in his November 19, 1976 co-worker letter.

PCG conveniently forgets this. PCG says HWA was wrong about this. If HWA could be wrong about something so fundamental (in PCG's view) what else HWA wrong about?

Also HWA said World War II would end with the second coming. Nothing happened. But PCG's leaders pretend this did not happen.

So much for a tour of places visited by a dead pedophile.

Next I suppose they could download the map of sex offenders published by law and organize a tour to visit the homes of pedophiles who are still alive.

Although I can imagine some awkward and tense moments after the doorbell is rung...

Well, old EXPCG hag, I have walked by his old house in Grant Park, Portland. I don't know the exact time he was living there versus the period of abuse, but it seems likely.
I really liked that neighborhood, actually, if not its former resident.

Interestingly, it seems right after he moved to Salem, the notorious "Coon Chicken Inn" opened not far from his old digs in Portland. Since he very rarely cited the blatant racism of the period in his autobiography, I wondered if he had dined there.

Have seen allegations that he was connected to the KKK of the period, but haven't located any actual proof.
