David C Pack Cult Believes It Can Deny Salvation To Disabled Member Unless He Starts Giving More Money

David C Pack has always had an appalling reputation in the Church of God for mistreating people.  That mistreatment is even more profound now that he is the leader of the splinter personalty cult, the Restored Church of God.

Tacked on to that mistreatment is his outrageous demands for money to be sent in.  In order to divert attention away from his abysmal prophetic failure in 2013, he is dumping millions of dollars into his cult compound.  New buildings are springing up, large lots of land purchased.  Orchards planted and gardens landscaped.  Demands are constantly being made to members to sell their stocks, cash in their retirement funds, mortgage their homes, and sell their businesses and give every dime theyhave because it ALL belongs to him and his god.

Bob Thiel had the following up on his blog:

07/15/14 a.m. Spoke with a man who was recently part of RCG late yesterday.

He brought up his view that David Pack and RCG are highly focused on money. So much so, he stated that a disabled person had been told by an RCG representative that he had to get a job so he could have more tithes/offerings to give to RCG. He said this person was told that if he did not, although he would still be allowed to attend RCG services, that he would not be granted salvation.

The individual I spoke with was horrified by this, and then quoted Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast." He realized that RCG added a non-biblical requirement for salvation. He also mentioned other problems associated with David Pack and RCG.

While I knew that David Pack has long been obsessed with money, what I was told yesterday was even worse than I had heard before.

Years ago, in late 2007, David Pack basically told people to get into debt and cash out any retirement savings they had to give to him so he could build an impressive headquarters. David Pack indicated that this would be signal for all in the various COGs to come to him.

David Pack later (in the Spring and Summer of 2013) stated that would happen by August 30, 2013. Of course, that date was proven to have been in error. But the obsession with money has not let up within RCG.

As if this impotent little prick can deny salvation to anyone!

Is this Pack guy really this type of person and doing tithe things we hear? It's so hard to believe, and if so how can he justify himself and not live in fear because of his ways?. He seems to be very knowledgeable about God and is a good speaker but I can't see how he can go on using and abusing people like he does. He seems to be so self centered, self righteous, arrogant, self focused, a braggert, mean, a liar, a thief using money sent in for purposes other than what he uses them for, he's above others and is a contro freak. How can people fall for this and give him their money which he uses for buildings and lands of which he apparently puts in his name, in other words it's all his. I'm just amazed how deceived we can be if we aren't careful, but is this all true, or is it all a lie from others who want to be Gods number one?

The members are comfortably "cowed" from years of Armstrongism, in much the same way as townspeople were depicted as being cowed in a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood movie. Problem is, Pack gets to disfellowship the Clint Eastwoods before they get everyone to stand up for themselves and run Dave out of town!

Dave Pack has been bullying members since his WCG days. It's only now in the information age that a lot of this has come to be known.

I am a former member of RCG (like many others). I have witnessed first-hand a lot of what is mentioned by Bob Thiel and others.

One of the main reasons people stay with Pack because they think he is doing "The Work". He is a cunning deceiver...unlike some others. I believe the glory days of RCG are over. Given a little more time and many others will wake-up and leave too.

I heard the exact same thing this man said. My parents who are in their late seventies and can't physically work were told they needed to find something they could do to pay tithes. Offerings on social security was not good enough. I heard Pack say a couple of times GOD'S PEOPLE DON'T RETIRE!!! The man is an absolute out of control.

How can a cult of 3,000 have a $100million campus?

Their soon coming bankruptcy should be more spectacular than Mega La-La-Land cults WCG and Crystal Cathedral!

After which the property will be liquidated for 30 cents on the dollar (if they're lucky).

Not to advocate that any of us do this (or do it often), but if you visit Pack-man's overly complex church website, you can see weekly photo updates of how he's spending the poor fools' money that is, evidently, still coming in.

Captions to the photos are written in a particular way intended to evoke a response like, "Wow! Amazing! Look how God is blessing us!" I guess pics of drywall being installed and sod being laid down "prove" something in their minds. (Oh, that word "prove" -- overused and misused by HWA and all the little Herberts, too!)

This week's photo selection is especially sickening: youth on the lawns during some sort of "program" (brainwashing session) at Dave's HQ. (Hey, Dave! Don't you remember that you didn't dare STAND on the grass in Pasadena, not for a moment?)

There's also a hurried shot of Dave's magazine displayed on a big screen in New York City. Okay, so what? How does that help anyone?

Your dollars at work, you sad, silly people! Hope you're not going hungry to provide them.

Wake up, will you, please!!!!!

Anon July 19, 2014 at 12:22 AM,

Yes they lure you in by appealing to your vanity! THEN when you are in their clutches, you realize everything they wrote which sounded so good was not how they really are.
Their main form of control is disfellowshipping. And if you are a long time member, so brain- washed and are not used to THINKING FOR YOURSELF, you will probably come grumbling back to the minister's feet admitting YOU were wrong,(even though you are not), just so you can still be one of the predestined, chosen from the foundation of the world, FIRST FRUIT KING/PRIESTS, who are the only ones that will inherit the Kingdom of God at Christ's return.
And if you do not return, they slander you to the whole church and say you were either not called, headed for the lake of fire, or being used as Satan's tool or all of the above.

The fact of the matter is, I never knew the PCG to ever practice what they preached, as far as what Christ commanded HIS disciples in the way they are to treat each other. The PCG was all about keeping the Sabbath and holy days and living by every word of Gerald Flurry and not to forget...giving all your money to >headquarters<. You were continually being spied on and watched by minister's and members. It was such a phoney, unhealthy environment to constantly be in. Most members were unhappy, but would not dare show it for FEAR of repercussions by >THE GODS AT THE TOP<...(TOP GOD'S).

It's all about look at me/us, we are blessed and you are not...Destruction always follows PRIDE! God above never calls a person to a "church"..so BEWARE! Pack is still a sinner needing to repent, but I have a feeling he has committed the great sin. He has in his latest video that no one will ever fire him. He is fired by me as a teacher and have no doubt the Creator has fired him long ago.

Jesus issued this statement from his website today:

"Although I would have all men come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved, I am reluctantly denying salvation to David Pack of the Restored Church of God. He has deliberately and viciously wrecked the lives of people who would come to me and that is absolutely unpardonable.

"My Father and I agree that the only solution is to throw David Pack into the Lake of Fire. It is the only way for people to have peace in our Kingdom. The wicked liars would disrupt the Peace in our Kingdom and we will can not allow such evil men to bring chaos and confusion to the People of God.

"We did not make this decision lightly. As you know, judgment begins at the House of God and it is clear that David C. Pack is not repenting of his great wickedness. We both feel that we have given him more than enough time to prove who and what he is.

"Sadly we must both inform all of you that no one of the Faith are to have contact with David C. Pack and we will work tirelessly to attempt to heal the wounds he has inflicted."

I heard Pack say a couple of times GOD'S PEOPLE DON'T RETIRE!!!

Actually, I've heard mainstream ministers say the same thing on Christian radio. Except those ministers talk about continuing to serve God in some way - not becoming a Walmart greeter for the $$, as someone in PCG did.

It would be great for someone to go up to Pack and suggest that he get another job. Of course that's assuming that he really works a real job to begin with, so "a job" may be appropriate. Unlike disabled people, the elderly or sick, he has no excuse not to follow through. While at it, they should suggest Dave get a second mortgage for his house to help pay for "the work".

I disagree with anyone who makes the blanket, one size fits all statement that God's people don't retire, regardless as to whether this is based on Armstrongism, or mainstream Christianity.

The problem is that when the majority of humans reach a certain age, they actually become a hazard in the workplace, due to slower reflexes, and the loss of flexibility. Some sense that they have lost these, while others do not, but potential employers most certainly do pick up on it during interviews, and while observing the symptoms if they hire these folks. There are, of course, exceptional ones, who remain sharp as a tack well into their 90's.

There is a difference between the motivations for non-retirement within the Armstrong camp and within the mainstream. Armstrongite splinter leaders have their eyes on the tithes. Mainstream Christian teachers generally are looking at seniors as their pool for voluntarism, and in some ways are doing a good thing in keeping people with disposable time active and socially engaged. Usually, the volunteers are in a protected environment.

The fact is, I don't recall ever having heard HWA, or any ministers from the classic, old school era leading up to 1975 teach that Christians don't retire. However, in a time when the older, staunch members of this movement are into or reaching retirement, and there are no big numbers of incoming, youthful members in the prime of their careers, something must be done to offset the ensuing loss of income. So, as always, the solution is a new level of cruel exploitation of the membership. Leave your unmanageable children at the mall, and send your tired, slowed down seniors out on the highways, and back into the workplace. It's all for the convenience of the splinter, not for the mentoring to, soothing of or nourishment of the members.

Not unlike "David C. Pack" and "The Real Truth," come to think of it.

I think it's hilarious that Packman devoted 2 entire World To Come programs to bash Harold Camping's failed prophetic dates back in 2011, and now he's getting a taste of his own medicine after that epic fail last year- he actually thought he could get away with a rewrite of some of his earlier material as a cover-up after the blowout! Pack is now left to cower under his desk at the magnificent Hall of Administration and hasn't put out much of anything since. This couldn't have happened at a better time while he's right in the middle of building a costly and glorious monument to his own foolishness in Wadsworth.

Way to go, Dave!

I often see the comments about how Mr. Pack is foolish or only in it for the money. But he is not bothered by what you say, he knows that it is Satan working trying to disrupt the work that Mr. Pack does as God's only true end time apostle. Why else would so many enemies attack one person as you do here. It only strengthens our resolve to continue to support the work and Mr. Pack who is more than just some average man, he is obviously given special strength and abilities from God, he is super natural and awesome. You will all see soon that everything he teaches will come true and he will be a ruler in the Kingdom of God, and you will listen then because it will be so obvious. We know that we don't have to give anything that we don't want to, but it is a privilege to give to RCG and the money is used wisely by God's steward. So just keep scoffing and telling your filthy lies, or just get over it and prepare for the punishment that God will soon bring upon you. It gives me peace to know that I am of the elect and will have a special place in the kingdom, I will pray for you, you need that.

I do remember HWA preaching against retirement. I also remember sitting in a class of ministers and AC students in Pasadena in 1976 and hearing George Geis point out that many people are unable to continue working at an advanced age.

Byker Bob said...

Yes, Ronco, if Pack dealt in truth in advertising, updates on the site would say something like:

"Exciting, aggressive building and grounds program to be executed as sufficient numbers apostasize from their own ACOGs to fund it! Remember, Haggai is still a book!

Pray for the geriatric members who already sent us their 401Ks and equity from their homes, so that they might now reenter the workforce to continue doing their fair share in supporting us.

Remember, brethren, if you max out your credit cards for us now, we'll be in the place of safety before you ever need to pay them off!"

Pack is super natural and awesome??? What in the hell are you guys smoking over there at RCG? The man spends most of his sermons bashing other people and churches. That's real awesome! It's nice to know he still has his ministers watching the "hate sights. " I know it must be a minister because they gave a sermonette ordering the slave workers never to visit these sights. So which minister are you? Is that you Dave? No one but you would use super natural, awesome, and Dave Pack in the same sentence.

The funny thing about being in an Armstrongite church is the way everyone talks about how the "holy spirit" does all this stuff, transforms you, blah blah blah, and yet you're really no different than you ever were. You just use different words to describe all the same impulses. Instead of "f@%& you" you say, "I'll pray for you." It's the same intention, just covered up with euphemistic language.

Enjoy your "special place in the kingdom" and your rod of iron, anon3:15. Don't bother praying for me. If by some astronomical stretch of the imagination there really is a god and by yet another astronomical stretch of the imagination, Dave Pack is anything like him, I'd rather be in hell, thanks.

Assistant Deacon said...

So, Anon 3:15, you're "of the elect and will have a special place in the kingdom?"

Well, Flurry's folks are of the very elect, so you're lagging behind a bit.

How do you like them apples?

Byker Bob said...

3:15-----Very nice, Bubba. But, personally, I believe that if David Pack and Herbert "Incest" Armstrong have anything to do with salvation, I'd choose to opt out thru TLoF. Being forced to spend all of eternity in the equivalent of WCG or an ACOG would not be salvation, it would be hell!

Fortunately, there is more to the picture and there are better options. I'm certain that you are sincere, but there might just be a little surprise for you in your future. Say hi to Mr. Pack for me, and tell him I'm looking forward to enjoying some beer and potato chips with him in the Kingdom after Jesus has straightened everything out! In the meantime, I believe Dave owes Dennis a phone call!

Some people financially support churches that come up with nearby dates for the second coming of JC and the end of the age. When the end gets delayed by 52 years (the length of HWA's religious career) plus another 28 years (the time since HWA died in 1986), some people continue to get strung along--probably because a sucker is a sucker is a sucker. The original idea that the end is so very near that there is no time for anything else, combined with the church's anti-higher education teachings, leaves people working at low paying jobs into their old age. Some people expected to escape soon like in "freedom 55." But as time goes on, and their money has been given away to the church, and their houses—if they ever had one--have been remortgaged or sold so they could donate more to the church, and their retirement plans have been cashed out and taxed with what is left being sent in to the church, they have to continue working and looking forward to maybe "freedom 85."

Allen C. Dexter said...

I certainly didn't hold off on full retirement until I'm now almost 80 to give money to such despicable deceivers. It still remains that you get to the point where continuing is dangerous to you and maybe those around you, depending on the occupation. The ravages of age don't relent for anyone. You just do your best and adjust to natural realities. Such edicts are almost incomprehensible if you forget the character of the ones issuing them. They literally don't care about anybody. They're all psychopaths.

Allen C. Dexter said...

This is almost unbelievable. I certainly didn't keep at the floors all these years to give money to larcenous psychopaths like him. I wised up and don't give a red (or any other color) cent to bombastic psychopaths.

The time comes when continuing to work is dangerous not only to the individual but to those around him or her. So far, I can still handle the wedding ceremonies, but trying to do floor work and carpet cleaning is getting a bit much. I'll never just sit down and do absolutely nothing until I absolutely have to, but that day came for my parents and probably will for me also.

What scumbags these imposters are!

People who fall for just anything can end up robbed, broken, and bitter.

David Pack wants EVERYTHING that people have. You had better WANT to give it ALL. Have you not noticed that David Pack has started to write and talk about having “all things common”--which in his Restored Church actually means having all things become entirely his own? He does not distribute it to anyone as they have need. David Pack once shouted that, “If people don't tithe, they're gone!” Now, merely sending in tithes and offerings and building fund donations and doing continual fundraising are no longer enough. David Pack wants it ALL.

It is too bad that God did not give David Pack special strength and ability to understand the biblical books of Haggai and Zechariah so that he would not have come up with wrong prophetic guesses in God's name like that August 30, 2013 guess—or, as some might call it, “filthy lie”--that he used to inspire people to send in more money.

Being angry at others for pointing out the OBVIOUS LIES of David Pack will not help your own situation, so either get over it or else get prepared for your punishment. You could easily become one of the frustrated, angry, bitter, God-hating cynics at the Banned By HWA Blog if you are not more careful about who you follow or what you believe.

You asked, “Why else would so many enemies attack one person as you do here?” Well, many other even stupider, self-appointed, false, religious leaders get mocked here too. I wish that David Pack had turned out to be a better man, but everything I have seen about him indicates that his mind is now going down the same path as other charismatic leaders who ended up destroying their followers. Like Adolf Hitler after he had destroyed Germany, David Pack might start to feel sorry for himself and begin to whine that the WCG-RCG people were not good enough, and were not worthy of him, and have let him down.

Do you not read the bible?? Pack is a mocker, a devil denying the Savior, who is to be preached...He is the door..the way...the life..NOT ARMSTRONG or PACK...
John 6:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
So, you must love Pack's sermons cursing other brethren...Having that kind of hate is as one who murders. He never preaches righteousness, salvation, sanctification, etc. "True Church" "God's Church" Not in the bible and one is still grafted in to a people of God above..Israel. We must worship in Spirit and in Truth..not a man made building with a man leading while we carry yokes...The lake of fire is prepared for men like Pack and HWA. God will have more mercy on these folks here who have been hurt by lies of Armstrongism a self righteous cult.

OK, here's the deal:

If I'm disabled, then David C. Pack can anoint me so I can be healed.

After I have been healed by God using David C. Pack as a conduit for God's true healing power and my arms and legs have grown back and my body is completely restored, then, and only then, will I get a job and give a certain (income tax deductible) contribution to David C. Pack, assuming, of course, that the "healing" holds for more than a week or two.

Otherwise, all bets are off and he can just take a flying leap.

So all you winners out there who think Davey is The End Time Apostle / Prophet -- what do you think of that?

If he can't get last year's prophecy right (an outright failure) then what are the chances he could heal anybody?

You can just wallow in the cesspool of your own beliefs that you are winners because Davey Bad-Ass Nimrod is your champion winner. Delusion isn't going to get you anywhere though: You aren't going to be gods and you certainly aren't going to be winners.

For a long time I felt very sorry for the members of these churches. I had hoped that in time, they would see that they have been victimized by these sociopathic leaders. Now, when Pack claiming that he has the "keys to the kingdom" and can prevent someone from being saved, I think there is little hope for those who remain in these churches. How much abuse does someone have to see and experience before they walk away?

The Pack properties will probably eventually go bankrupt and be sold to the Catholic Church, as happened to Robert Schuller's Crystal Cathedral recently.

At that time, I'm sure Davey Pack will feel sad and jealous, since paedophilia was one of Mr. Armstrong's best strong points, but due to space constraints, acts of paedophilia will happen less often on Davey Pack's properties than they will at Crystal Cathedral.
