Dave Pack and the Restored Church of God Face Another Year of Epic Failure

The Feast of Tabernacles will soon be upon us, again.  We are now heading into the third year after David C Pack's epic announcement that his god was going to strike down three Church of God leaders and in turn lead all the members of their  respective churches over into Dave's flock.  Two years have passed and not one single leader  has died.  Nor are any members of  any of the splinter groups joining up with Dave.  In fact, Dave is LOSING members!

Dave has no large Feast sites this year ready to accommodate new members.  People are not packing their bags to go to Dave's Feast. No splinter group is in negotiation with Dave to change their allegiance and festival sites turning them over to the Restored Church of God.

This is what Dave wrote that keeps coming back to bite him:

Details may begin (and only begin) to come into view on the first of the month of Elul (in God’s calendar—August 7 in the Roman Calendar). A more complete picture will emerge by Elul 24 (August 30). Right now, all are urged to have in their thinking that they will be reassigned to a new nearby Feast site, and those who choose to return to the Body of Christ will attend with what becomes a much bigger organization—probably significantly bigger than the largest splinter! (Crucial Questions—Important Answers! July 19, 2013, http://rcg.org/sep/crucial-questions-important-answers)

Which three leaders are the greatest obstructionists to God’s stated purpose in Haggai—returning HIS people to doing HIS Work? (The Final Announcement. August 2, 2013, http://rcg.org/sep/the-final-announcement)

Next, the 2013 Feast of Tabernacles: This will also be among the most special and inspiring times in Church history. It will be a Feast of unity and harmony among all of God’s people. Everyone will keep this joyous occasion as members of The Restored Church of God in scores of sites across the world. At this time, we have 21 sites, but we anticipate adding many more. In some areas, former splinter brethren will attend our current sites. In other locations, we will have to quickly add new ones. In still other areas, splinter sites will simply become Restored sites. The total number of Feast sites, and where they are, will depend entirely on how many brethren answer the “stirring” of Jesus Christ to return to His Church, and in what areas they live.

It must be humiliating to be seen as such an epic failure in the eyes of his own members.  Its no wonder they are leaving.  Those tens of thousands of new members never jumped ship with their money, which Dave was greedily claiming as HIS.

Dave now is struggling to keep the money flow coming in.  His mini-me auditorium yearns to be built.  Dave's master plan for his campus is stagnating.  His epic gardens look  out of place crisscrossed by high tension lines  while being squeezed in between the busting freeway and the big lot store across the street with its expansive parking lot.. His magic garden that Dale Schurter was supposed to be setting up as the epitome of agricultural genius has been pushed to the sidelines.

Dave's big dreams have turned out to be big dud's!

Decades after the failure of 1972-75, revisionists have said, "Well, those dates were never intended to be literal. They were a part of "Mr. Armstrong's" futuristic ad campaign of the 1950s and '60s". Those of us who grew up in the church or were members know better. Up until shortly prior to the failure, we all knew beyond the shadow of doubt that the Germans were coming in '72, and Jesus was coming in '75. Our entire lives were based in those two events! Herbie was able to deflect most members' attention from this by pointing to his new adventures with some of the relatively shaky "world leaders" who needed photo ops, and via his aggressive new building program. Many left, but, many reprogrammed, and church membership actually peaked sometime during the 1980s.

This Sophomoric Haggai ad campaign which Dave concocted in some ways reflected some thought and promise. I was actually concerned that he probably would make some moderate headway in terms of income and poached members. But, unlike HWA, he had no strong deflective back up plans. It is doubtful that Dale Schurter's agricultural knowledge (if you could even call it that) could accomplish for Dave the level of things that Stan Rader, Sam Gotoh, or Bob Kuhn could and did leverage in the aftermath of the disappointment of 1975.

Thank God nobody died! I have no lost love for the "work" of the major splinter leaders, but who among us would want their deaths to be timed in such a way that someone of Dave's ilk could exploit them?

This fiasco of Dave's is text-book Armstrong imitation, even including the ultimate failure. He who hath an ear, let him hear!

The mind and delusions of Dave Pack are the most fascinating study in religious narcissism and bogus theological interpretation going in the world of splinters and slivers. Ministry is a much easier place for delusional autocrats to hole up and hide out because their quirky if not dangerous ideas and slick presentations look like Biblical obedience and an abiding faith that is unshakable. It is really stubborn arrogance and ego that is unshakable but it looks and sounds very religious. Throw in the classic "God wants us to..." "Christ is now leading me/us to..." "Christ demands that we...." and so on , and the game is on.

I don't know if Dave knows what he is actually doing and believes his own press, or knows better but it's a good gig. I suspect he is sincerely delusional, but there is great danger lurking for the membership in just about every way. They are setting themselves up for an terrible experience that will change them forever and their kids beyond measure.

We can kid about Dave Pack and we can marvel at his hubris and ego centric and self absorbed personality, but it will ultimately prove to not be very funny. Dave is very very bad theological accident ready to happen in the lives of far too many though he actually be just another sliver in the COG's himself.

Well, we now know the coming signal that heralds the unification of the One True Church...

And now for a reading from Acts of the 21st Century Apostles, Chapter 3.

As they stood there, staggered and stunned by the glory of the Headquarters Campus they inquired of the Apostle saying: Mr. Pack, tell us the sign that accompanies these things for
which are soon to pass for which ye hast spoken about. And the Apostle spake unto them saying 'Don't miss this- when thou seest the TARDIS standing in the middle of the parking lot
of the Wadsworth Giant Eagle where it ought not belong, let them that dwelleth in the Produce Section flee to the Express Checkout line. Pray that your journey is not on the
Sabbath, for it will be Car-mageddon on Ambassador Drive...'

So, after all the ballyhoo, the "Agriculture of Tomorrow" program is stalled!

And after much braggadocio, still no sign of the promised palatial Auditorium!

All symptomatic of an income crisis! How embarrassing! How delusional!

Thank God Pack is finally crashing and burning. No a minute too soon, and the sooner the better! I wince sometimes that I was, too, deluded for an awful lot of years. I came to my senses gradually, especially when he was assigned to our area as a last ditch attempt to reign him in. I could only marvel at the crap he was spewing, and expected us to take it to heart! It isn't all about the dates he sets, or the "whammys" he puts on other churches. He definately IS bat shit crazy. What frightens me is that he could actually become a Jim Jones or a David Koresh.

*** DAVID C. PACK ***

By The Poet who really did know it.

Revealed August 2015

PART 1 --- DCP'S BACKGROUND

Started small,
then grew tall.

Fired from cults,
for his faults.

Starts his own cult.
Clearly his fault.

The Restored Church,
where he now lurks.

Always changing.
It's a strange thing.

Says he'll restore.
Then destroys more.

Towers over doctrinal ruins,
aided by his yes-men goons.

Restored some things as before,
then began to unrestore.

Restored some things, changed some other.
Dirty, rotten mother-[lover--Editor].

PART 2 --- RCG HQ STAFF TURNOVER

Pack's workers never work enough.
They need to show that they are tough.

The work is hard, the pay unfair.
Dave wants them glad that they are there.

And when they just can't take no more,
he'll gladly show them to the door.

The worker clearly is so dumb,
and Dave will say that he's a “bum.”

But David Pack is never wrong,
and more workers will come along.

Some more slaves will come his way,
and live to rue that tragic day.

More suckers will come along,
and learn to sing this sad old song.

PART 3 --- DCP'S PROPHETIC GUESSES

David Pack, like mother hen,
wants all the people back again.

First in the fall, then in the spring.
Guess and guess and guess again.

He keeps on guessing all year long,
even though he's always wrong.

His mother called him David Pack,
But Josh's ghost is coming back.

Zechariah knows whose who.
Too bad David does not too.

Old Haggai would never lie,
but David's nonsense just won't die.

PART 4 --- DCP'S “COMMON” THEFT IDEA

David thinks his greed is good,
and hopes that that is understood.

Wants all your tithes, offerings too,
unused junk, and what have you.

Send in third tithe to be “precise.”
He'll use it to build something nice.

Building fund is not enough.
Everyone donate more stuff.

Fund-raise cash, and send it in.
If you do not, it's a sin.

His greed is there. Your cash is not.
Toss all possessions in the pot.

David says it is a must.
Maybe this will sate his lust.

Doing this is what you should.
It is for the “common” good.

And if this does not bear some fruit,
you just might end up destitute.

If you listen to his ravings,
say goodbye to all your savings.

Retirement plan will not come back.
Should not have sent it to that quack.

Hang on tight with all your might.
Don't let your own things out of sight

PART 5 --- HOW DCP BECAME ELIJAH

Everyone is always wrong,
David nitpicked all along.

Then he made the biggest change,
and he did not think it strange.

Dave put Herbert on the shelf,
so he could exalt himself.

Deletes old booklets one by one,
so his writing can go on.

Changes teachings,
with his preachings.

Scores of “proofs,”
but all are goofs.

A hundred thirty,
all so dirty.

Always wrong,
all day long.

Oh the “joys”
of all his noise.

PART 6 --- DCP'S STYLE

Twists the Bible.
Full of libel.

Wants your cash,
for his trash

Wants your house.
What a louse.

Burns the members,
till they're embers.

Rant and rave.
So like Dave.

Lie and steal.
What a deal.

Yell and spit.
Full of [sugar--Editor].

PART 7 --- CONCLUSION

David Pack?
What a quack!

Sent from God?
Not that fraud!

It has been said that in order to become a truly great poet one must first suffer greatly.

David Pack will provide all the suffering one needs to write truly great poetry--or at least truly lengthy poetry, since any list of his faults and abuses could go on and on.

Not necessarily. I'm sure he refuses to face it.

DCP has actually succeeded in doing quite well for himself, and has acquired a nice house, a nice vehicle, plenty of ill-gotten spending cash, and the fearful respect of his slaves.

It is DCP's tricked, robbed, and emasculated followers who have lost their minds, money, and balls. It is they who must now face their epic failure and accept their shame.

David Pack now has up at his website some videos called The 12 Rules of Bible Study.

David Pack--who totally tortured the books of Haggai and Zechariah to try to make them say what they do not say--is now going to try to tell you how to study the Bible.

Here is one really good rule of Bible study: Read the Bible for yourself rather than letting David Pack tell you what the prophetic books say and calling that “Bible study.”

David Pack's television program called The World To Come is currently advertising one of its shows called Did God Send NOSTRADAMUS?

It looks like the David C. Pack POT (or David C. Crack POT) is calling the Michel de Notredame KETTLE black.

I remember reading that James Randi, who wrote The Mask of Nostradamus claims that in 103 cases in which Nostradamus specifically mentions persons, dates or other falsifiable data, he was wrong 100 percent of the time.

The only times that NostraDumbAss's vague prophecies ever “came true” were always discovered after the events had happened. All attempts to predict anything in advance based on his vague writings have always failed.

The real question for today that we all want answered is: Did God send David DumbAss?

David's August 2013 prophetic guesses did not work out at all, other than in the sense of frightening some RCG members into giving DCP their houses and money.

The actual prophetic track record of the Two DumbAsses suggests that the same WRONG spirit is behind BOTH of them.

This is starting to sound like an old trick of DCP's. DCP had just finished laughing at some clown called Ronald Weinland and his prophetic failures when DCP then came up with his own August 2013 prophetic guesses that failed.

Correctly criticizing other false prophets does not prevent David C. Pack from being a false prophet himself.

Plain and simple, David Pack is an asshole.

And I say varily as I walk through the valley of the shadow of Pack, I will fear no evil for the divine Pack has both hands in my pockets which will surely keep me from falling into the ways of Satan. He lightens my load by removing all of my financial burden and he brings me peace by providing me with his ever louder claims of his glory. These words drown out any evil thinking that I might have in my own mind do to my obvious incorrect interpretation of the word of God. I hear the word of God clearly, but the Pack knows the mind of god and tells me what I actually need to know. Please lord, make sure that his hands never leave my pockets and ensure that his shrill voice should never leave my ears.

I must go now, it is time for my medication and also I must write another check to the holy Pack.

When I was a member of Pack's RCG, he chastised the congregation from the pulpit for a decrease in his net take-home on a "holy day." Somehow, "Give as you are able" didn't factor in. (Apparently, the literal translation is, "Giveth until it hurteth, then giveth some more...")And to make sure none of his sheep showed up "before the Lord empty," Pack demanded that unemployed members "collect cans" in order to prepare an acceptable holy day offering. I came to realize that that was the only real significance to such days. They were neither special nor historical, nor did they point to any grand future event; they were just seven annual fundraisers.

Hey, Dave Pack is always bossy, boasting, bragging and telling us he is the best, the greatest, even though the Bible tells us: "That no flesh should glory in his presence." 1Co 1:29

And maybe Dave Pack just can't help himself; he can't stop being who he is...he has no choice in the matter of who and what he pretends to be. And for some things there is no choice as is demonstrated by the following joke I just read on line:

"When God made the human, all of the different parts wanted to be the boss.

The brain said “Since I do all the thinking, I must the be most important and I should be the boss.”

The eyes said “I see everything and let the rest of you know where we are, so I’m the most important and I should be the boss.”

The hands said “Without me we wouldn’t be able to pick anything up or move anything. So I’m the most important and I should be the boss.”

The stomach said “I turn the food we eat into energy for the rest of you. Without me, we’d starve. So I’m the most important and I
should be the boss.”

The legs said “Without me we wouldn’t be able to move anywhere. So I’m the most important and I should be the boss.”

Then the rectum spoke up. “I think I should be the boss.”

All the rest of the parts of the body laughed and laughed and said “YOU?! You don’t do anything! You’re not important!
You can’t be in charge. You’ll never be the boss.”

So the rectum got angry and closed up.

After a few days, the legs were all wobbly, the stomach tightened up, the hands were all shaky, the eyes got all foggy and watery,
and the brain couldn’t think.

They all gave in because they couldn’t take any more of this and agreed to make the rectum boss.

The moral of the story?

You don’t have to be the brain to be boss, just an asshole."

This is the biggest fund-raising season of the year for the COGlodytes. A little can be gleaned regarding their popularity and health from the numbers on the lists of Feast Sites. They're going to be "kipping out" from Tuesday sunset to Wednesday sunset, and within about 30 days, we should have some anecdotal evidence as to their financial health. That is, of course, if we can get through the offficial sugar coating.

Don't know if this is related, but I recall many conversations I had back in the seventies with a man who owned a Health food store that he & his wife ran near UNCG in North Carolina . His name was Pack as I recall Rand was his first name. Over several years we had numerous discussions covering a wide range of subjects. On more than one occasion He relayed stories about two sons who were attending a church college, or had attended can't recall which . I do remember that he often expressed amazement at one of the sons possessive nature, it was like, if he wanted it was his to do with it as he pleased . I don’t recollect that he ever expressed any real concern at this proclivity . Could this have been the father of David C Pack ?
My interest lies in that I have a friend who mixed up in RCG !!

It does not really matter whether David C. Pack is sincerely wrong or insincerely wrong. He is still wrong either way. The important point to remember is that David Pack is simply wrong.

Since all the ranting, lying, and stealing are always done in God's name, David Pack's victims are very likely to lose their religion. They will find it extremely difficult to hold on to any religious beliefs after what David Pack does to them in the name of HWA and of God.

This is the same as Gerald R. Flurry coming up with all his so-called “new revelation” (that is, doctrinal changes away from what HWA had taught) and truly satanic abuse that is done in the name of HWA and of God.

David Pack and Gerald Flurry both love to make up lots of fancy titles for themselves, change what HWA had taught (after pretending to stand up for it so faithfully), come up with wrong prophetic guesses, tell church people discouraging lies in God's name, and steal all the money they can from both man and God.

Significantly, David Pack and Gerald Flurry hate good people.

The understanding in the Worldwide Church of God under Herbert W. Armstrong was that the people from the “Philadelphia era” were told to, “Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown” (Revelation 3:11, NIV).

Extreme impostors like David Pack and Gerald Flurry will try to take away literally everything that everyone has.

“And to make sure none of his sheep showed up 'before the Lord empty,' Pack demanded that unemployed members 'collect cans' in order to prepare an acceptable holy day offering.”

David Pack can try to act up-to-date by talking about “collecting cans” rather than the old-fashioned “collecting bottles,” but he is still behind the times. With poor people in the world already picking up whatever return-for-deposit cans they can find, there is not much left out there anymore for church people to pick up. If RCG members do find any, they might need the deposit refund money to buy food for themselves after having already given everything else they have to David Pack.

Or, maybe they could try to show real dying faith by sending in the can deposit money to RCG HQ and trusting that they can find a partially eaten happy meal in the dumpster behind the fast food store. Maybe they will get lucky and also find a park bench to sleep under for the night, or even a nice culvert to live in.

Restored Cash Grab (RCG) members can never again ever have anything really nice, since any houses, retirement plans, savings accounts, income, etc. are supposed to be turned over to David Pack--“or no salvation if you don't.”

The RCG has a third tithe program that DCP shouts at people to pay into faithfully in order to be doctrinally precise, but those requesting third-tithe assistance from it can be made to feel lazy, selfish, and greedy, and can be denied. This way all the “unused third tithe” can be swept into the general bill-paying account at the end of each month, rather than wasted on supporting “bums.”

It is easy to feel sorry for some of the deceived, robbed, and emasculated victims of raging Dave Pack of lies, since some of them might have sincerely (but wrongly) thought that they were doing what was right. However, after a certain point they need to realise that they themselves were sincerely wrong and are now tragically part of the problem, and are actually DCP's accomplices in trying to do this sort of evil thing to other people.

But the age of Randy Pack is listed as 55 -- unless this is the son of the original owner (Rand). But this does shed some light for you:

The leaders of some of the other COG's are secretly wishing that when the PCG, and the RCG dissolve that they will pick-up a lot of new members. This is a pipe dream. It is likely that one or more new groups will be started from the fragments of these groups and many of the members will finally see armstrongism for what it is and not latch on to any COG group. This will result in very few latching on to groups like UCG, and LCG.
