Another symptom for the Alcoholic Churches of God.

Life is so much more rational and sane when you don't live by "the book". By just using good sound reasoning and common sense you don't need a book that others use to live by rigid black and white dos and don'ts that has the result of people having a negative self image and a negative opinion of the life styles of others. It seems to me that those who embrace the idea that the bible is ultimate authority in their lives tend to have more mental health issues. I see it all around me.

"By just using good sound reasoning and common sense......."

So hard to find these days!
and
"the result of people having a negative self image....."

How does one have a negative self image by endeavoring to do what is right according to a superior authority. Sorry I forgot, most people don't accept a superior authority.
and
"a negative opinion of the life styles of others."

The life styles of others is not my problem, it is theirs and none of my business.

Now, when can I expect to see the men in white coats? LOL.

Just read LCG article on tithe of tithe. Funny how it's used for ministerial travel to the feast. How come, don't they save second tithe? Are they just scrapping by like the rest of us.
Just thinking, would like to see what others have to say.

I have yet to hear or read any COG sermon relating to Hebrews Ch.7. Particularly "Heb 7:4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils." explaining why Abraham did did this. Could it be that Abraham was giving tithes of his "increase", that which Yehovah had GIVEN him as in "Gen 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.(the spoils)"
followed by:
"Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law."
and
"Heb 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof."

Under the terms of the OT, tithing was required of "increase" not income, wages or hire but of what Yehovah gave. See:
"1Co_3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."

and even that tithe has been "disannulled" according to Heb.7:18 above.

From Merriam-Webster "Main Entry:dis£an£nul
Pronunciation:*di-s*-*n*l
Function:transitive verb
Date:15th century
: ANNUL, CANCEL"

None of this, of course, prevents any voluntary gift to Yehovah viz:.
"Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
