I Told Rod Meredith to NOT Write His Autobiography, but He Refused to Listen to Me, as Usual!

The other day when the COG News and this blog posted about Rod Meredith announcing that he has published the first three chapters of his new autobiography, it sent those that know his legacy into instant mocking.  One person however did one of his typical self-aggrandizing meltdown's.   It won't take too much guessing to know that the person pontificating was our very own Almost Arrested, Elisha, Elijah, Joshua, Amos, Joel, Second Witness, Self-appointed Mayan authority and certified False Prophet, lashed out at Rod Meredith for DARING to write his autobiography.

Theil wrote one of his holier-than-thou posts declaring that he personally told Rod Meredith many years to NOT write an autobiography until he corrected doctrinal problems in the Living Church of God.  Daddy Rod refused to listen to his wayward egotistical "son" and started the book anyway.  The non-ordained leader of the falsely called "continuing" Church of God was NOT happy!  How DARE Rod Meredith IGNORE his "words of wisdom!"

Gerald Weston wrote, December 8th: “We have all encouraged Dr. Meredith to write an autobiography to fill in some of the history of the Church, since he played such a major part in the Work of God under Mr. Herbert Armstrong. This week he distributed the first of a planned three-part series, titled ‘The Early Years’. The importance of this project cannot be understated, as he is the last man to fill in many details in the early years of Ambassador College and the Radio Church of God during its existence and afterward ...
Well, that may be the case now that "We have all encouraged Dr. Meredith to write an autobiography," but five years ago when I was an appointed advisor to Dr. Meredith, I discouraged him from writing his autobiography as I explained to him that it was much more important for him to correct errors in doctrine, literature, church history, and prophecy that he and the other Charlotte-based evangelists admitted LCG had. Well, it looks like Dr. Meredith ultimately decided to write his autobiography instead of correcting those errors. It was sending out known errors, breaking promises, and making it clear that he did not need to keep his promises that led me to leave LCG

Why does this little man think that Rod Meredith should be listening to him?  Since he is not ordained, is not a real COG minister or leader, has never been appointed by God for any purpose, and  does not have a real theological education, why does he assume anyone wants to listen to him?

Thiel should have realized that people would have a field day with his published comments, but no.  After making a complete fool of himself with his disgusting tirade against Gavin, Thiel must have known he would catch some shade for being such an in considerate fool.  Poor thing, he just CANNOT do anything right any more.

Some of the kids I knew in high school were fairly sophisticated cons. Unfortunately, I learned a lot from them that I had to unlearn later. Of course, it was no surprise to learn later that they did quite well in business.

This stuff that Pseudodoc Thiel is constantly parading under our noses is rank amateur material even compared to the high school cons of many years ago.

What value is there in Thiel sharing that he had advised Meredith not to write an autobiography? It is as if he is imagining himself in HWA's position, which is perhaps the unrealistic way in which he now sees himself. Pathetic!

bob spiel needs to realize that rod's autobiography will be the most important book ever written since the Bible.
Nothing left for spiel to do but to write his own autobiography.
So there!

Thiel advising Rod sounds like Rod is some sort of dummy. Come to think of it, he is a dummy. He keeps saying the same things over and over and over. Just like Herbie and his two trees. If Rod had wisdom and understanding, there would be variety and interesting intellectual titbits in his sermons. But it never has been, and never will. Rod keeps using 50 year old intellectual knowledge, as if there is no knowledge explosion. Does he know how to use the internet or how to Google? Maybe not?

Oh, you know, Thiel actually is right on this one because with the efforts of Redfox and a bit of collaboration, we've already put together...

Roderick Meredith -- a Biological Sketch.

Roderick Meredith should stop wasting his time because we've already done the heavy lifting for him and he should concentrate on important things like making out his will and writing his own eulogy.

He may not have that much time left.

Good call, Bob!

Whenever plans in Pasadena went awry and corrective measures had to be taken, a WCG friend would say they had to get priorities straight. Rod could have informed Bob, with a paraphrase of Isa. 55:8, My priorities are not your priorities...

And Rod could have delegated someone to "look into" some of Bob's complaints. After all, the GCA booklet, in which some tweaks were apparently needed, was written by the late John Ogwyn - not Rod. And his Autobiography isn't going to write itself...

Doubledose will be chagrined when large portions of Dr Meredith's book are added to expanded Acts of the Apostles in the millennium.

During Sabbath-School classes in the millennium children will ask "Why is so much of ACTS set in California?" The spirit teacher will answer "Because all the nuts & kooks pile up in California, as they can go no further west!"

On second thought, perhaps Meredith SHOULD complete his autobiography and make it a tell-all, replete with his telling us all about his lies, deceptions, thefts, hypocrisy, his bankrupting Global, his false prophecies, how wrong he was about British Israelism, how it feels to be a totally disgraced false prophet who, if the Bible is right, will place him squarely in the Lake of Fire.

So let him write it. Fill in the blanks. Confess. Confession is good for the soul.

And either he can repent or shamelessly profit without any intent of making a single change. Write it without regret.

Because, as we know, such autobiographies sell and he'll make big money if he but stand his ground and again profit from hapless people so willing to pay his price.

Come to think of it...the only part of rod's autobiography I might want to read is his take on his exile to Hawaii.

Bob thinks of himself as a prophet. Its the role he chose to play when he plays church. Think of it as a child's game. The great leader being advised by 'advisor Bob' who God has given great wisdom and discernment. So wise is he, the leader always fails when he goes against the advice of God's right hand man.

This is why Bob look to be such a joke. He is just that. A pathetic joke.

Oh, c'mon, you know you want it!

As friends of the Meredith family will confirm, Rod Meredith himself does not live much differently than his Methodist grandmother whom he admires to this day. Privately, he either disagrees with or at least chooses not to practice many of the extremes that are so common to the old WCG and today's splinters. Smoking? Not so bad. Unclean meats? Not such a big deal. Fasting? Let's not be extreme about it, especially for the old or the ailing. Voting? OK for his top ministers and his children. Sure, Rod talks a good Armstrongist game now because he has to. It's his job. Privately, however, the main WCG doctrine to which he still subscribes is that he will be one of the highest-ranking personalities in The World Tomorrow.

If Rod were to release a frank autobiography on his deathbed, he might set free the minds of thousands now enslaved to Armstrongism. Since he no longer plans to give LCG to his children, he might as well bankrupt the cult when he dies after letting his children make some money from the proceeds of his tell-all book.

I'd like to know what caused his preoccupation with masturbation, homosexuality, and the sexual sins of the Hollywood crowd. Something unhealthy during his formative years had to have caused him to dwell on these things. At least 3-5 minutes of First Year Bible Class, in which he was supposed to be covering the harmony of the gospels, were spent on sex almost every day. The student body as a whole was counselled to "get your minds off sex" until the appropriate time, but Rod totally defeated all possibilities of that ever happening.

I'd also like to learn from his point of view what might have caused animosities between Rod and Garner Ted. In fact, I'd like to know what Rod knew about GTA's extra-curricular activities, and when he first knew it.

Basically, we can know in advance that whatever comes out in such an autobiography will be an attempted whitewash. However, much as HWA inadvertently cut loose with some materials that gave readers insights into his psychology and deep seated prejudices and mindsets, Rod is bound to make the same mistakes.

We also must remember that the hourglass can run out of sand in the middle of such a project. Several years back, I was eagerly anticipating more installments of "A Hill of a Tale", because of all people, David Jon Hill was most likely to be truthful in his revelations. There was no longer any vested interest in protecting the movement, and he had already included some formerly unknown tidbits in his memoire, then suddenly passed away, leaving us all hanging. And that was probably as close as we'll ever come to truthfulness and full disclosure from one of the formerly great and powerful insiders to the Armstrong empire.

I think an autobiography from RCM would be extremely interesting if he was balanced in its presentation, showing both his personal triumphs and failures as well. His insider insights would be fascinating.

But alas, my hope for such will be nil. He already has pretty much said all of it over the years, and it is a sugarcoated, castles in the sky, fairy tale, where it all centers on his supremacy.

He became involved in religion as a means to control his behavior.
Many preachers have. In the end this can fail in a spectacular way. Look at all those preachers we talked about both in and out of the ACOG's. When they start to act upon their impulses they begin their fall.

It all goes back to the tragic wrestling-accident death of Rod's childhood friend Jimmy Mallon. Maybe some LCG members here will chime in and tell us their own sense of what they have heard Rod say in sermons about his relationship with his old wrestling buddy, and how the two of them would hold on to each other and roll around in the grass like little bear cubs, but I would say it has at the very least some strong homoerotic tones to it. Rod loved Jimmy, and was mad as hell at the Methodist God who would take his lover away from him. When Rod's uncle got involved in Armstrongism, Rod was ripe for the taking, and could sublimate his love for Jimmy Mallon into his zeal for his new religion, much as Alan Turing built a career on his sorrow over the loss of his childhood love, Christopher Morcom. Good thing Alan Turing never heard of Herbert Armstrong, or he might have turned into a particularly evil Evangelist under HWA's influence.

Perusing LCG's offerings, no autobiography has actually been published, much less 3 sections of one. This is probably something "to come", not something already published.

It was delusional Bob Thiel beginning to think of himself in terms that are “not realistic” that led bitter Bob to leave the LCG, retroactively claim that he had been anointed to the office of a prophet, and try to trick people into wasting their time looking to demon-inspired, pagan prophecies for tidbits of truth.

It is bad enough to stay in the LCG and put up with the “Presiding Evangelist” Roderick Meredith's so-called “doctrinal upgrades” (that is, his doctrinal changes). Why make life even worse for yourself by leaving the LCG to follow a false prophet like Bob Thiel and his CCG, and to help carry all his Nigerian baggage?

Bob 'counselling' Rod not to write his autobiography is typical WCG and present sliver mis behaviour. Stating what should be the obvious (unfortunately not to those still brainwashed by church culture), Bob should mind his own business and not intrude in such a very personal matter. When was Christ ever such a meddling busy body? A middle aged man 'advising' a old man is insulting. Treating a old man like a child is demeaning. But not according to church culture, since all church members are robbed of their adulthood and treated like 10 year olds.
Where is pride and respect of peoples adulthood? Where is assertiveness. Where is the trunk of the moral tree of everyone having their own life?
Anyone who cannot understands this is a fool.
That means you, Bob and Rod.

Why all this attention given to Bob with his Mickey Mouse church and his Mickey Mouse numbers (and his crooked bookshelf and cheap curtains), when you have UCG with their 7.5 thousand members. This seems strange.

The disunited and godless UCG people just do all the usual, boring, sinful things. Bob Thiel gets so much more attention because he does such unusual, strange, sinful things.

Also, the way it is going, and given enough time, the UCG could end up with Mickey Mouse numbers too.

I was trying to think of what Bob Thiel might have been saying during the time in which that portrait was created. About the only thing that came to mind was the old bathroom wall classic, "Here I sit, broken hearted............"

Or was it something more along the lines of, "There was a young man from Gnu, who loved to sleep in his canoe. While dreaming of Venus..........."

Oh well. Pure nonsense, that. But unfortunately, whatever he was actually saying was probably equally puerile.

Byker Bob, my guess is that Bob Thiel was doubly blessed, and only farted while playing with his penis.
