Mayfair - Pasadena Campus For Sale


Here is your chance to buy one of the original buildings that Herbert Armstrong bought to start the Pasadena campus.  Mayfair served for many years as the dorm for men, women and cafeteria for the students.  Annie Mann, one of the orginal Pasadena campus workers who lived here till she died.

I ate many a meal in that dining room. My sister worked in the kitchen for many years and in the dining hall later. I wonder who will buy that old place and rework it to their needs?

Just as well they emphasize the outside grounds because the interior is not original - a gaudy McMansion-like 'remodeling' - who would fall for that?

I find myself wondering who would purchase this? It’s obviously a very luxurious dwelling, but is far away from the areas or communities in which people of means would normally dwell. There is no seclusion, and security from paparazzi would be non-existent. It’s difficult to visualize a relatively unknown highly compensated executive finding the surrounding neighborhood desirable. It would be awesome if located in Beverly Hills, the Hollywood Hills, or Malibu, Topanga Canyon, etc., but there is also no star lustre about it. HWA does not have the attractiveness of say, Mary Pickford, or Spencer Tracy. It would also be rather expensive to use as a bed and breakfast. Unless the rare “right” person comes along, I predict that it will be on the market for some time.

I'd buy it and rent it out to all the herbie-worshipping groups to host their Spokesman Club getaways or even the Feast of Tabernacles. However, with their declining numbers, I'd be out of business before my mortgage is paid off. Alternatively, I could buy and then sell just the building structure to PCG to put in their shit-hole farm out in Redmond. I mean, the faith of a mustard seed can move such a priceless building cross-country from California to Oklahoma, right?

They'll never get what they are asking for that old mansion. We're on the verge of the greatest depression this country has ever seen. I expect it in a matter of weeks, not months or years. It's inevitable. No Germans needed to seal our doom. Trump and company has already done that.

My financial advisor made us aware of expectations of a recession in 2020, with the possibility that gains in productivity may forestall it. However, response to the president’s tariff program is a huge wildcard at this point. Wouldn’t hurt to be salting away some gold, platinum, or silver.

Well, BB, I wish we could do that, but we just barely make it month to month now. It's gotten really rough since I had to give up the floors. Get an occasional wedding, but they're few and far between, and I don't charge like some do. If there weren't several sources of free food help here in Cottonwood, we wouldn't eat very well. Even got potato salad and a watermelon and cantaloupe today, plus onions, potatoes and eggs and three cans of free dog food. I make our own dog food anyway, mainly out of the stuff we get for free, but every little bit helps.
