Only an infinitesimal few....

ht: SHT

What a weak and impotent god it is that allows only an"infinitesimal few" out of billions of people who will ever be chosen.  Church members do not seem to grasp how ludicrous this statement is.

Apparently, we were not called for salvation but to stand BEHIND Herbert...
well, we all know how THAT turned out...

Indeed, this is an accurate portrait of church life.

The snarkiness of this site is what makes me love it!

That second picture is what the ministry of the COG has done for decades to the members.

In fairness, I believe HWAs church adapted the JWs fair chance doctrine, whereby everyone eventually has the opportunity for salvation.

And yet growth was considered a sign of the "fruits" of the Mythical True Church. Splinters still want to be the biggest or fastest growing (infinitesimal) church...

He usually called himself "God's apostle". Then GTA pointed out that the Bible gives Jesus that title and calls the apostles "Jesus' apostles". I believe it did not take him long to return to his previous title.

actually, Church members understand that it is an "infinitesimal few" right now, and that every person that has ever lived will be called, at the proper time, and given the understanding necessary for eternal life.

what they do with it will be up to them.

The fortunate few who are chosen for 'salvation' & 'protection' now have the 'privilege' of funding the 'End-Time-Warning', which will require all your disposable income to broadcast the Arm$trong 'Gospel' (an eclectic blend of Adventism, JWism, Mormonism)
All monies will be applied to this effort (minus a massive secret percentage to fund the Royal lifestyle/salaries of the leaders)

Quote from HWA in article posted... (emphasis mine)

"We are a PECULIAR people..."

Very true HWA, very true indeed!

And that viewpoint has done what? (in variance, person to person)

1. Caused Church members to see themselves as superior, and "worldly" people inferior.
2. Caused church members to believe genuine Christians are serving Satan.
3. Caused church members to not help "the world" because they are under Satan's "curse".
4. Caused church members to avoid even family members who are "not called".
5. Caused church members to develop excessive pride on their elite "status".
6. Caused church members to think the "world" is evil to the core.
7. Caused church members to see themselves as righteous, and others as unrighteous, based solely on their "membership" in the "elite", based on "observances" and "keeps".
8. Caused church members to believe that the Holy Spirit is ONLY working with THEIR church. These days, that has turned into a chaotic cluster-mess.
9. Casts non-existing limits on the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit (read Acts 15).

Though many may turn to old articles of horrible reasoning by Herman Hoeh, Rod Meredith, Jon Portune, Raymond McNair, Armstrong and others, four pages of reasoning does not counteract one scripture: God so loved THE WORLD that he gave His ONLY begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:14

yet in the book of Revelation it shows that many will enter into the Kingdom, but not without tribulation...

You are right, it is a ludicrous statement.

It is also quite the opposite of the beliefs of the COGs,as has been pointed out a couple of times above.

As you well know, the COG belief is that every individual who has ever lived will have the opportunity for eternal life. Every person will fully understand the plan of God, and will have the opportunity to be a part of it. No exceptions.
