UCG Members Never Stopped Searching For Grandparents In Paradise CA Fire

JOHN WARNER NEVER STOPPED HOPING HE'D FIND HIS FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WERE MISSING AFTER THE CAMP FIRE DESTROYED PARADISE, CALIFORNIA.

John was working Thursday when he heard: Another California fire.

He stopped what he was doing. He listened. An evacuation had been ordered. People were trying to make it out of Paradise.

Paradise. No.

The scenic town of about 26,000 in the Sacramento Valley is about four hours from John’s home in Mi-Wuk Village, a scenic spot in California’s Gold Country east of Stockton

John calmed his frantic thoughts. He’d call his uncle and aunt. They also lived in Paradise and routinely checked in on his 96-year-old grandpa and his grandma, who didn’t like telling people her age. They would tell him not to worry. They would say: Everything is OK.

John had no idea what was about to happen. Soon the photos shot by trapped evacuees on their own cellphones would start flooding social media and news sites. People escaping in cars would post video of whole neighborhoods engulfed in a wall of flames.

The Camp Fire was the blaze everyone had always feared. It swallowed the canyon, moving through the North Central Sierra hills like a tsunami.

What a tragic and yet wonderful story.

I dare any of the hate-filled fools that posted on the earlier thread about the fire to post here!

In the long view of history, what difference will any of our lives make? The true measure of a life is not how many people know our names when we die, but whether we touch the lives of others.

My oldest son made it out to safety in Chico, where there are lots of good hearted people. For hours over the weekend, though, we didn’t know his fate. It’s heart-rending to know of a life threatening disaster, to watch it all unfolding on the news, and to know one of your own is right there at ground zero. He had made it through his stint in the Army diffusing mines in Bosnia years ago, but heroes are not in any way immune to death. They just have a different attitude. Looks like Grandpa Warner was also a hero. I’m so glad these UCG people had a happy ending to their story as well!

This illustrates something in microcosm that I’ve always known. If the apocalypse ever did get around to happening, it would be no different from any other disaster in one way. Regardless of their differences in beliefs or ethnicities, people would all be pitching in to help each other in their mutual survivals. That is one thing humans do that distinguishes us from the animals. The elitism and differences preached by some groups would quickly fade, as survival became the singular goal in the mind of all affected.

I'm so glad they were reunited. I hope many more are reunited in the same way, although I know there is heartbreakingly tragic loss. May God be with them all.

I too am so glad Gradpa Warner was found safe. And BB glad your son made it. A disaster can happen to any of us at any time. My heart goes out to anyone going through any kind of tragedy.

I follow James Woods on twitter and he has dedicated himself for the past week in using his account to help everyone in the two fires. He dropped his usual political vendetta completely.
With such large scale fires, the COGs members are affected like everyone else. I pray for everyone there.
None of the major splits are featuring the slightest mention of what is a wide-scale tragedy.
We feel for members and non-members. I just wish our past and current COG associations did the same - or at least showed it.

Very happy that they made it out alive and were reunited. Sorry for their loss of home and property.

This whole fire thing is a pile of media hype that small minded people get wrapped up in. What will it matter in a million year? A hundred years? 10 years? Not much. It will all soon be forgotten. The world has much bigger problems to worry about. Ever heard of nukes? The human race will not be here much longer, God or no God.

10:07 ~ Asshole!

It's not hype if it alerts everyone to the Holocene Extinction, and that human-induced climate change is part and parcel of that. There are things all of us could be doing to help minimize all of that, just as we would make preparations to minimize the damage of a hurricane, or store up food and water for an emergency. Sadly, instead of taking these things seriously, the puerile amongst us dismiss certain things by saying, "Oh, that's a Democrat position!", or "Oh, that's what the Republicans say!"

I wasn't going to post 10:07's comment, and in fact, let it sit there all day. This is mild compared to some of the comments I have received and deleted. It amazes me how the church can create such hate-filled people.
