LCG Richard Ames on Deceptive Teachers in the COG

Living Church of God's unoriginal Tomorrow's World rag has an article up about the Devil's Deadly Deceptions. Never has there been a COG that has given more power to "the devil" than LCG has. They live in constant fear of the guy while they ignore the one that has restrained they guy.  Perhaps if they understood the inconvenient dude they claim to follow, they would not be so fearful of the "devil" that currently controls them.

According to LCG, that deceptive "devil" is the one behind all the lying preachers and church leaders in the Church of God, but LCG believes that it is impossible for them to have any deceptive leaders or ministers.

Thanks to Rod Meredith and the Global/Living Church of God, we now have Dave Pack and Bob Thiel's improperly named splinter personality cults. Could there be two more deceptive men in the COG than these two?  Sadly, they top the list, with scores of other liars closely aligned behind them deceiving the brethren.
Deceptive Teachers
Have you ever been deceived? All around us, countless con artists are out to defraud and to steal. Law enforcement agencies continually warn us of scams and deceptive practices that rob unsuspecting victims. But are you on guard against deceptions that come even in the name of Christianity? We read earlier that Satan transforms himself into an angel of light to deceive the innocent and foolish. Satan also has his own ministers. We read, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:13). Just because a man calls himself a minister, or even an apostle, does not mean that his message is from Christ. Such false teachers will suffer the penalty for their false teaching: “Therefore it is no great thing if his [Satan’s] ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works” (2 Corinthians 11:15).
Jesus Himself warned that “false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24). As shocking as this may seem, your Bible warns of religious ministers who appear righteous, but are ministers of Satan. If you are a Bible student, you know that one of Satan’s religious deceptions is false doctrine. The Apostle Paul prophesied that many religious people will seek teachers who preach what they want to hear, rather than teachers who will preach the truth of the Bible. The Apostle Paul exhorted the young evangelist Timothy,
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables (2 Timothy 4:2–4).

The same cliques over and over. The truth was not preached for 1900 years till Herbert came along. Now LCG carries the baton. Don’t question anything they say, they are preaching the truth of god with righteousness and long suffering. Sit down, shut up and listen. Send in your tithes, offerings, fund raising money. The end is near, we need to warn the world, never mind the suffering of those around you. Be sure you are at services every week, take notes, read the literature. Keep the holy days never mind the suffering around you. The Passover and DUB are coming up, be sure and vacuum behind the sofa, get all that sin out of your lives, never mind the suffering around you, ignore the homeless, they deserve being that way. They are sinners. Don’t be deceived by false teachers, sit down, shut up and listen. We have the truth.

Ha ha, the pot calling the kettle black.

That's how it works.
You tell people they're under attack, and then offer a a solution: a way to deal with the attack.

Meanwhile, it's just a con. The attack was concocted, as was the solution.
Some come to understand that, and some don't.

But it's a profitable enterprise, so the game marches on- enriching and empowering the men behind the curtain.

Control is always based on need. If no need is present, then create the need through marketing and propaganda. This is an age old technique.

The leadership at LOG is so inspiring. The devil is attacking the righteous members. False teachers lurking everywhere. They need to keep their mind on the big picture. Holy Roman Empire is rising up. 10 heads to dominate Europe. Pope is going to ride the beast. Probably will have maybe 1 to 2 years left to get the truth out. Need to shake the world. Famine and pestilence probably by end of this year. Need to get ready for final 3 1/2 years of training to be able to rule over 10 or more cities. Rest of U.S. to be hauled back to Germany and put into concentration camps. Women will become unruly and non submissive. They need Dick Ames to exort and rebuke them with kindness and long suffering. Looking forward to next sabbath for a sermon from Daniel or Revelation.

I don’t know whether we have any NRA members here, but their basic approach is somewhat similar. Hyperbolic punctuation and caps in the member letters, fear mongering about liberals diminishing the Second Amendment and grabbing all the guns from law abiding citizens, and always soliciting donations. The only difference is, the NRA is not a scam, and I don’t mind investing with them in the preservation of our rights.

It does illustrate, however, the fact that some of the marketing techniques shared with Armstrongism do work if the public is convinced that the message is legitimate and relevant. I’m not a member of Greenpeace, but there is another organization which numerous people find credible and have no problem supporting. The basic problem with Armstrongism is that the movement has about as much credibility as Harold Camping, but members and the ministry are in denial about this.

If you Google “false prophet”, many names come up, and Armstrongism is represented on the list.

Of course people will seek teachers who will preach them smooth things. Why else did they choose to attend Rods church with his empty pharisaic sermons. He would've known this. Give the suckers what they want, and take their money.

Rod was probably inspired by Dave Pack when he asked his followers to send in their "excess wealth." After all, why should Dave grab all the loot for himself.

How does Jesus tell us to discern who are His disciples:
John 34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Does not appear like any of the COGs have much or any love for each other, so I guess this rules them out as disciples of Jesus.

TLA, you are right. Jesus said: "Love one another as I have loved you."

Jesus was the God of the Old Testament, who showed his love by killing a couple million people in that Old Testament. The ACOGs are very good at showing THAT kind of love!

Has it occurred to you that you have missed your calling to be a minister? The frequency of your comments and impressive writing style suggests this.

If you are a minister, 12:06, you are responsible for what happens to people when they follow your advice. Wouldn’t it have been nice if the ministers of Armstrongism had realized that?

I never wanted to be a minister. My gift is related to machines. I like to get my hands dirty. Lots of hard work so that the machine owners and operators can make money and feed their families.

Christ has killed millions and will kill billions in the coming tribulation. That's because love isn't primarily making people comfortable, but rather helping them enter into the kingdom. People expect God to come down to their level of wine, women and song, then condemn him for not doing so.

No TLA, God is not a God of fun, sex and floric.

Excellent write-up. I absolutely appreciate this site.
Thanks!

Remember that Ames is preaching to morons who will believe whatever he tells them. Notice the latest LCG news item, Religion and Depression. By LCG's own testimony from that article, it doesn't matter which religion you believe in; what matters is that you believe. LCG members no longer care about truth; they have learned to obey their ministers and they assume that they will be rewarded for their obedience, not for their truth.

The members have also been conditioned into a state of learned helplessness. It's a type of slavery to the ministers and their boot lickers.

I would be depressed if I had to sit for an hour and a half listening to Ames. The same sermons over and over and over......how depressing.

Ames sermons have always been. Irving as hell. The only ones I know that like them are the Kitchens. They have him on their Herbie altar.

This reminds me of a coworker letter discussed in Ambassador Report. In the January 20, 1981 letter HWA wrote:

I cannot reveal to you at the moment what Satan is up to now, BUT IT IS BIG,...

Interesting how HWA was in the loop with Satan's plans, but had such an abysmal prophetic track record.

Herb and Satan shared certain traits such as guile and exploiting others. This gave him a good insight into Satans mind.

Of course Ames and other ministers sermons are dull and repetitive. These churches don't want 'runners' or independent stay at home Christians. So they feed their members diluted spiritual meat to keep them ignorant and dependent on the church.
It's bully morality, and a betrayal of their responsibilities toward their members.

Richard Ames' statement: "Just because a man calls himself a minister, or even an apostle, does not mean that his message is from Christ. Such false teachers will suffer the penalty for their false teaching" - certainly seems to be a directed warning to those who are leading other COGs. Mr. Ames certainly has to know that Dave Pack listed him and marked him as a member of the Synagogue of Satan some six and a half years ago, is he one of the ones this is directed to?

Why give a faint statement unto the membership who would supposedly have nothing to worry about concerning false ministers and Apostles while attending the LCG. Unless the LCG is suffering a slow bleed of membership loss to the "apostle" led COGs, why such a weak statement to the membership packaged as a pedestrian warning to a false apostle or minister?

Where Is Mr. Ames' strong statement against the "Wadsworth Apostle" who just this Fall called out all of his church's women as dressing like Las Vegas hookers who he said would all soon go into the fire of the Great Tribulation just based upon their dress alone?

By their actions, the LCG leaders are taking off in a slow walk into the sunset led by their leader who wrote to his membership and told them that they where all going to die.

The "Wadsworth Apostle" has the sword, the "Edmond Apostle" has the rock and the Living Church of God has the edict of death.

Richard Ames shouldn't be talking. As one poster above wrote, that is like the pot calling the kettle black. Besides, their current presiding evangelist as well as the decease one are among the most deceptive individuals I have met in Lucifer Camp of Gehenna.
