Passover Mess: Part II

Several things can be taken away from this article.

1. Indiana Bob believes the reason "scholars" deny the Exodus is because they don't realize WHEN it was.  Actually they deny "THAT" it was for archaeological, logistic and historical reasons.

2.  Indiana Bobl, judging by the length of the article, probably does not have many clients as a Naturopath or being an Apostle/Prophet just takes a lot of time

3. Indiana Bob believes Herbert Armstrong and Dr. Hoeh knew more than those who devote their lives and careers to such matters.

4. Indiana Bob believes he knows more than those who devote their lives and career to such matters. A common practice with Apostles, Prophets, Elijah's and That Prophets.

Hey! Indiana Bob...Please give me a call

Also well-known are the textbooks on the emergence of Ancient Israel, titled The Archaeology of the Israelite Settlement (1988); on the archaeology and history of the arid zones of the Levant, titled Living on the Fringe (1995); and on the Northern Kingdom of Israel, titled The Forgotten Kingdom (2013).

While we're at it...

Indiana Dennis Diehl and the Last Crusade against believers in God and the bible!

Diehl:

We do not know where Mt. Sinai actually is. The Biblical description of the landscape does not seem to match what we know now of the landscape in and around the Sinai peninsula. While the physical geography is problematical, it does not mean the theology is problematical.

The model that you selected to use is the Biblical Literalist model. If I were to settle into the role of Biblical critic, I would choose that model, too. It is easy to find discrepancies and it would furnish a rich vein of material for unending posts to various blogs.

One of the problems with the Biblical Literalist model is that too much is claimed for it. Typically, its devotees find some point of discrepancy in the Bible and they then expansively claim the Bible is false, Judaism is false, Christianity is false and there is no God, etc., etc, etc. The most they can logically claim is that the Bible appears to have been inaccurately recorded over its history.

Speaking of the history of the Bible, the Incarnational Model of the Bible developed by Peter Enns provides a means of understanding the Bible that acknowledges the effect of flawed human curation of scriptures and does not lose the Bible's theological intent.

8:28 "Indiana Dennis Diehl and the Last Crusade against believers in God and the bible!" If you are a believer as most Armstrongite followers claim they are because they are holding fast to the "truth once delivered" then there is no way Dennis or anyone else could shake your faith. IF, If he is able to do that then your faith is shallow and useless, much like Armstrongism itself.

Dennis cannot shake my faith, but he can shake the faith of the spiritually young, the immature and spiritually sick. The bible states that the Devil is like a roar seeking whom he may devour. Which means that the spiritual vulnerable do exist. That Dennis has become Satan's minion is deeply disappointing. And Dennis complains of former friends shunning him, as if he's been unjustly treated?

Tyson said that? You gotta be joking. What a hypocrite. The guy is a total bigot!

You all do understand the point of the posting is that the Apostle/Prophet/Elijah types that rise to the surface in the Church of God remnants pontificate on topics that in actuality they know nothing about and if they should stand before men and women who actually have made these kinds of topics their life along with their peers, they would look pretty stupid. We get that don't we? Dave Pack or Bob Thiel only look intelligent theologically within the walls of the castles they have holed themselves up in. In the real world of academia, peer review and research, they would fail in a heartbeat.

The only reason a Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry or Bob Thiel seem to know the scoop is that they are not appealing to a very intellectually curious, critically thinking or open minded audience.

How I end up being on of Satan's Minions is beyond me unless that learning many things one thought to be so and are not is so frightening it is just easier to call people names. If the non-existent Satan has minions, they would be in the guise of the personality disordered theologians falsely so called in the splits and splinters.. Church of God ministers would not even survive the inquiries and questions a first year seminarian could ask them. And if you mentioned that these men think they are spoken of in the Bible, they would just tell you to take your meds.

Those close to the Church of God remnants are so used to hearing Dave Packs, for example, gibberish and incredibly stupid ideas about the Bible, they hang on ever word and for them and Dave or Gerald or whoever, it won't end well mentally, emotionally or spiritually, much less financially.

So God can't or won't stand between the all powerful Satan to prevent the weak from being devoured by him. This makes no sense. Wouldn't a merciful God make sure that all of us are protected from Satan no matter how weak we are. In fact wouldn't he give special protection to the weakest among us. If Satan is such a powerful being wouldn't all of us be very weak in comparison to Satan and be easy prey for him? Armstrongism has a way of demonizing those that speak the truth as if they have the power to destroy the weak that their God should have the mercy and power to protect.

God protects, but doesn't over protect. God allowing a snake in the garden of Eden is a microcosm of every day life. There snakes in the workplace, in politics, in churches, even within families and relatives.

It's true that ACOG ministers would fail in a heartbeat in the real world of academia and peer review. However, these churches are the proverbial weak of the world. Members are not failing because of a lack of understanding between Paul and Peter differences, but rather on fundamental issues such as rights. Bully 'what's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine' beliefs are common in all these congregations. Assertive beliefs and behaviors are in fact punished. That's the real condemnation within these churches. Ministers know this, but their power lust comes first, resulting in justice and members wellbeing being thrown under the bus.

9:17PM Any God who lets his creation Satan or Frankenstein to rule over the world and create havoc killing and deceiving millions when all he had to do after defeating Satan the first time was cast him into outer darkness is confusing at best and negligent at worst.

If you loved your creation why would you let evil reign over them? God never deceives but if he lets satan deceive then isn’t that just the same?

I once heard a minister say God has already won. Now him and satan are playing for points. WTF? I for one do not want to be a cosmic chess piece.

Also, consider Jesus upbringing. A family who loved him as compared with so many children born into abusive housholds and lives. God wouldn’t let Jesus suffer that but he would let millions throughout history suffer that?

In this story the hero lets the villain control some things but not to go too far. Allows the villain deceive and manipulate but the hero who has the power to stop this doesn’t.

Not much of a story.. Super hero or otherwise. More noble intentions and better story lines can be found in comic books.

Also don’t forget after satan is bound in at the return of Christ, he’s gotta be let out one more time.. Why? Who knows? Gotta show everyone why you’re the more merciful one? The better hero?

You can’t get rid of either yin or yang. Know one thing, and you also know its opposite, if by no other method than implication. Know God, and you must also know the opposite of God.

I don't know why God allows all this suffering. But, I do know that God is the Most High God and therefore He has the prerogative to do whatever He wants to do. We're His creation and He can use us to whatever ends He desires. We are after all His to do with as He deems fit. I've learned that God created the entire universe not only through His Son, but for His Son. So we are His property in essence. I've also heard, like Anon 12:04 PM said, that God has already won. Indeed, I believe this too, since the dimension God and His Son exist in is beyond time, space and matter. Thus, His sovereign victory, as revealed in His Word, is assured. "It's already happened...It just hasn't happened yet." We, however, are "looking through a glass darkly" in the sense that we're trapped in this simulation where time, space and matter affect and limit our perception and understanding of the true nature of things. But, God can see the beginning, the middle and the end in an instant so knows it all from the start. Why He has allowed all this, again I don't know. But, I'm trying to lighten up and enjoy the ride more each day since, like I said, after all, I'm His property and whatever God wants of me God will get in the end whether I'm in Paradise with Him (which is my hope and prayer!) or annihilated into nothing. It's up to Him to decide my eternal fate and His judgement is ultimately just.

8:49 PM, there is no reason for God's judgement to be ultimately just. What we think of as reality is, as others have noted, a simulation. What we call "God" is a production company in a dimension we cannot see into. It is not simulating the universe for the benefit of humans, but for the entertainment of other beings who exist in that unseen dimension. You know how entertainment in stories, movies, video games, and other artistic productions depends on arousing tension in the readers/viewers/players and then resolving it--sometimes in a tragic way, sometimes comic. Either way can be entertaining if the sequence of events is well chosen and skillfully represented.

In other words, all that matters is that "God's" judgement is ultimately entertaining.
