Dennis - the real mystery is existence.
Some people may think everything began with the Big Bang. Other people may think it started with God.
But how does anything start out of nothing?
The big mystery is existence - why and how does anything exist.
Yet here we are.
Arguing about religion - but fortunately no dinosaurs.

Interesting to watch. At least the people who donated to this project were trying to strengthen peoples faith rather than trying to destroy it. He complains that the $100 million could have been better spent else where. Actually comrade, people can spend their money any way they darn please. It's non of his business. It's one of the meanings of 'don't steal' that he quotes in this presentation.

Indeed. Existence is the real mystery. If we were to jump to the assumed conclusion that nothingness was the ground state or default. Which is not apparent. Or necessary.

But if we were to jump to that conclusion anyway, then if it is a mystery why the universe exists, hypothesizing the existence of vastly more complex agencies like our anthropomorphic deities, rather than nothing, or rather than just a simpler universe, doesn't help us at all. It just kicks the can down the road.

A mystery is not really explained by proposing the potential existence of even an bigger mystery in order to account for it.

So there you have it. Behold the real and unsolved mystery of the existence of the universe.
