(One of the old WT programs, available on Youtube, has Armstrong recommending in the 1980s that members read Foxe's Book of Martyrs.)

I still consider myself to be a part of the non-denominational Anabaptist Church of God, and NOT anything to do with the Protestants, descended from the Catholics. Perhaps any Protestant-bashing went over my head? This was when the EU was being formed and the counting started -- up to 10. When it went over 10, well they tried to amalgamate some countries or say some would leave. They said Britain didn't belong there because it was part of Israel, and would be leaving at some point and would eventually become slaves to the Germans. The pope would move to Jerusalem in an attempt to provide peace to the Middle East, and then the abomination of desolation would occur -- probably the sacrifice of a pig. None of the popes seemed to be powerful enough to fit the role, but they pinpointed a German leader who might become the beast -- FranZ Joseph Strauss. HWA even made the effort to befriend him and he was invited to visit Ambassador College at Bricket Wood. I was a student there at that time, and I remember Mr. Strauss walking around campus with Herbie and some other German politicians. He was a strong looking man -- was he going to be the beast? He was taken to the faculty dining room with his retinue and Herbie and a fine meal was put on, steaks from the organic ranch in Texas and baked potatos. One of the girl students who served in the faculty dining room, got a little nervous around such famous people and dropped a baked potato. It rolled under the table and ended up under the 'beasts' chair. She was horrified. Afterwards we all laughed about the horror of a potato rolling under the chair of 'the beast'.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-59241125316787936032013-03-15T21:39:41.880-07:002013-03-15T21:39:41.880-07:00Have any of the no-conspiracy theorists noted ever...Have any of the no-conspiracy theorists noted everything is controlled by the Zionists?

That would be Hollywood, the senate, the media, the congress, the White house, google, youtube (I think), MTV, Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, and much, much more.

The Catholics have the supreme court and the Zionists have everything else. We are discussing the same Church...Anon @ 10:12 AM

We are discussing the same Church, but there were great variances from region to region. From everything I've heard over the last few years, it seems to me the Canadian Church was much more moderate than either the Americans or the Brits...which is why the sermons from "evangelists" from the latter two countries always seemed to stick out like a sore thumb, and NOT to be close to what we were hearing, on a weekly basis.

That said, there was a lot of "end times" talk, but tht was part of the Church's error. And as I said, John Paul II was supposed to be the Antichrist...and wasn't. Armstrong was supposed to live until the Kingdom...and didn't.

But, mostly, it was sermons on how to live one's daily life, following Jesus...and making sure to discern the errors that had crept into the world's religions.

I never heard anything even remotely close to the stuff that Gary posts on this blog, when I was growing up.Velvetnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-58481652609600261182013-03-15T13:44:25.649-07:002013-03-15T13:44:25.649-07:00Anonymous Anonymous said...
