They want to take that "god-power" and just rub it all over themselves, so that everyone bows down to them, listens when they speak, and when they say "Jump!" everyone says in unison (all speaking the same thing—whatever they've been told to speak) " How high, Sir!" And when they give it you up the ass, you say, "Thank you, Sir, may I have another!" And for what reason? Because they smell like "god-power," that's why. Just what is this "god-power" anyway?

Christianity to me seems predicated upon bribery. The "leaders" are telling you the story there's an invisible god in the sky who has prepared a bribe for all those who are willing to do whatever this god has told the "leaders" to tell you to do. And in return, those who buy that story, spend the rest of their lives trying to bribe, or otherwise make "tit-for-tat" deals with this god directly, or else by trying to curry favor with the "leaders" so that the "leaders" will lobby this god directly, or more often, both. In Romans 12 where it says it's your "reasonable service" to "present your bodies as living sacrifices," I hear a "leader" saying "bribes are currently being accepted." And in Isaiah 55 where it says, "Seek the LORD while He may be found," that's another "leader" saying "bribe early and often, before the window of opportunity snaps shut."

Half of this "god-power" is the "ability" to "reveal" the "answers" to the rest of us about how to counter-bribe this god. The other half is about the "leaders'" ability to lobby on your behalf, such that your bribes will be properly credited to your account by this god, so that the rest of this transaction can go smoothly in "the afterlife." This totally necessary, or, perhaps, totally unnecessary service, depending upon your point-of-view, these "leaders" perform for you "free of charge." That's right, their god, as it turns out, pays them with a 100% commission on all bribes of a financial nature. Also, don't piss off your lobbyist, or, at the final destination you may find yourself up the paddle without a creek, and without a pro quo for your quid. And you wouldn't want that to happen, now would you? WELL WOULD YOU? No, I didn't think so.

So, you might be asking, how does one avoid pissing off one's lobbyist? That's a very important question you want to be sure you have the right answer to. The most important thing I can tell you is, when he gives it to you up the ass good and hard, be sure you say good and loud, "Thank you, Sir, may I have another!" That, and everything else in the first paragraph. Otherwise you might just find your decades of obsequious devotion may have been entirely in vain. Oh dear!

That brings me to another important question. Apparently this god has been "making offers that cannot be refused" since about 4004 BCE. But why is it this god and his "duly appointed leaders" feel that the ONLY WAY they can deal with the rest of us is by first placing us between a rock and a hard place? Why are bribes, threats, intimidation, and coercion the ONLY WAY this god has chosen to relate to us? Whose idea of "love" is this? A Canaanite chieftain’s from about 3-4,000 years ago? Don Corleone's? It ain't mine. All the "leaders" with all their "god-power" can take that kind of manufactured consent and shove it up their collective asses good and hard, and they can tell their god he can do likewise. Happy Valentine's Day.
Head Ushernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-10902739668756301092014-02-13T11:13:49.587-08:002014-02-13T11:13:49.587-08:00Anonymous said...

Armstrongists want power (of gods) to control those under them to make them miserable and conform to the Armstrongist vision (reference Gerald Waterhouse sermons).

If these sociopaths would just stop seeking power (along with prestige and money) and start seeking personal integrity and redemption instead, a lot of the controversy would simply disappear.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
