In fact, there's a long-standing traditional method to help people do exactly that. It's called science.

If your very best efforts to discern truth includes believing in the equivalent of Santa Claus or fairies, then, although I'm tempted to say you need to try harder, you've already stated that you're unable to, which leaves me to just feel pity for you. By your own account, you're a lost cause. I'm truly sorry. There is an aspect, one kind of many kinds of churches that attract those types of personalities. Other kinds of churches and their teaching attract personalities that find comfort in them.

I grew up in an excellent Presbyterian church environment. Dutch Reformed, easy going for the most part and actually fun and drama free. My parents returned to it after being in WCG because it held all their peaceful and great memories and friends. Many of whom where still there. It was stable and fit them . It made my own upbringing stable.

How the hell I got into WCG thinking naively it was "Better" now is beyond my comprehension.

The posting covers many other kinds of churches that do not have the one leader that all are expected to follow and I not imply in the least all churches generate that kind of drama and craziness. Most don't and are filled with very fine folk doing the best they know how having or not having theological curiosity as to why they believe what they do.DennisCDiehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10417850852638492246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-22402929478864025612017-03-13T18:06:22.229-07:002017-03-13T18:06:22.229-07:00And because... some people are utterly clueless. And because... some people are utterly clueless.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-1170739595019070512017-03-13T15:56:36.186-07:002017-03-13T15:56:36.186-07:00To anon, I come here bcuz I get info about acog le...To anon, I come here bcuz I get info about acog leaders they don't want the sheeple they seem to enjoy shoving off cliffs knowingStephen Schleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01369663871929439310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-67722902103600517722017-03-13T15:26:32.356-07:002017-03-13T15:26:32.356-07:00Sometimes God's creatures don't sense immi...Sometimes God's creatures don't sense imminent danger. Today, I rounded a corner in my neighborhood to see a soft-shelled turtle in the middle of the road. I pulled over, ran down the middle of the street so cars would know to stop, and carefully picked him up and carried him to the edge of the artificial lake in the park. Once I set him down, he took it from there. He ran into the water and quickly swam off.

I'm thinking some of these ACOG members are the same way. They sense no danger. But, if we can only pick them up, maybe when we set them back down, they'll take it from there.

BBByker Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15602697337552385535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-78572776680418375432017-03-13T15:08:24.617-07:002017-03-13T15:08:24.617-07:00Interesting piece, but it doesn't mean that Go...Interesting piece, but it doesn't mean that God doesn't exist or that every church doesn't help its members morally and spiritually. Religious wolves in sheeps clothing doesn't mean that truth doesn't exist. The gatekeeper becomes the HWA package of allegedly restored truths. In fact, some of the independents have been more adamant in their posts on the HWA-recovery sites than have the splinter group members. Some of the things that one gets past as an independent are the corruption, authoritarianism, and false prophecies of "leaders". The problem is that the basic package of doctrines uniformly produces the same management style and types of leaders no matter how many times and ways reforms are attempted. Everything seems to work fine, one family in their living room. Once it grows beyond that, evil creeps back in.

BBByker Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15602697337552385535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-4498681119887514762017-03-13T10:16:16.020-07:002017-03-13T10:16:16.020-07:00They stay because of some sort of payoff. They stay because of some sort of payoff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-10289441921697228812017-03-13T08:55:07.801-07:002017-03-13T08:55:07.801-07:00Next time you come to a website, ask yourself, &qu...Next time you come to a website, ask yourself, "What is my need that I am here, reading this?"
