Oh, how they long for the glory days gone by. It will never be recovered. No one today, especially younger people, care about listening to bombastic preachers on the internet, regardless of being in 4K with enhanced audio.
If they refuse to listen to living modern-day "preachers" like Bob Thiel, Dave Pack and Gerald Flurry, why in the world does anyone think people will listen to stale old recordings of HWA? Those days are gone. Men like Flurry, Pack, and Thiel, have used and abused his name so much that no one cares anymore.
I've noticed that they've speeded up Herb speaking. Compared to the flood of detailed knowledged on the web, his sermons are so dull and drawn out. With a captive audience he can waffle, but given a choice, who's going to listen to the man?

ReplyDeleteBut I don’t doubt there is an audience for this. But it won’t be this modern generation just the golden oldies, whose who remember the glory days and seek a little nostalgia. Poor souls. I can think of better ways to spend my retirement than watching reruns of Herbie. Like watching American footy, sorry Bobby boy lol.
"It is another HIGHLY original named site.."
ReplyDeleteLike this blog called BannedbyHWA.
On your internet stalking has it not popped up on your newsfeed that UCG have published the detailed qualifications and expectations of conduct for UCG Pastors? That has never happened before.
Uh-oh! Someone had better call the Wahmbulance! Another one got their fee-fees hurt. Bwah!!!!!!!!!

DeleteYes, they have. It was specifically spelled out in 2017 and published online. Why are you a coward and not providing a link for this if it is new?
From 1999 actually.
DeleteWhat the ACOGs publish is often misleading public relations. It also harasses its responsible members from perceiving the reality within their own group. I still recall the 'we are all brothers and sisters' and 'the minister is your friend' brainwashing. They hide that a good proportion of their members and ministers are predatory Pharisees.
DeleteAnd worse 5:01 !
DeleteChurch members have a friend in Jesus, not necessarily the ministry also.
I'd have to believe there is a smug sense of satisfaction which comes from collecting this material and putting it out there, whether it reaches much of an audience, or not. That's probably the reward in and of itself. Vanity projects such as these do not require the incredible amounts of money that radio and TV broadcasts consumed in the past. Most likely, there is a greater audience for the mid-fifties Howdy Doody Program, with Buffalo Bob, Clarabelle, and the Peanut Gallery.
ReplyDeleteNo way could HWA or GTA give the old Art Bell programs a run for the money.
I am also wondering about the copy rights. Every DVD one can purchase these days has some pretty scary messages regarding piracy. (The ones for the BBC are the funniest).

There is so much religious content now on sites like YouTube that you no longer need to go to these new individual video sites anymore. Without having to search and bookmark, you can listen to Ron Dart sermons, Charlie Kirk, Frank Turek, Trent Horn (the Catholic perspective), and a multitude of Christian/ atheists debates. You can type in HWA and he will start showing up on your feed automatically. If you want to compare this to feeding on leeks and cucumbers, then the barn is full. The content is there for the taking.
ReplyDeleteWebsites are 'old hat' nowadays. Apps, YouTube and various social media platforms have taken over. I pick up on a new era of 'going straight to the source' rather than reading 'about us' on a old style website.
DeleteFrom '99, 1:05? About the time when their conduct was abominable toward me. UCG likes to publish rules on paper and hope that they can reach the heart but paper is not something that is digestible, i.e., you can't solve a problem by throwing a booklet or video at someone. That is called a ministry of the letter. 2 Cor 3:6.
ReplyDeleteAs most long term readers know, I do have some long term interests in areas other than just what we discuss here. While I am certainly no prude, I really resent the intrusiveness of some of the commercials on You Tube. The ads at the beginning of a presentation, you can click on "skip" after about fifteen seconds. Yesterday, I was listening to the guitar parts on Elvis's early "Sun" recordings. Elvis played the chords, as Scotty Moore was basically defining much of what would be lead guitar in early rock music. In the middle of one of the songs, suddenly the scene switched from a spinning record on a turn table to a woman laying face down on a bed. There was an abrupt, loud, gratuitous farting noise, which served as the introduction to one of those awful "stuck poop" commercials. I'm no prude, I've watched a few of the "Pooter" and "Sharter" videos that are shot in the aisles of Target or Walmart. Hilarious! But somebody really needs to do something about intrusive and unwanted web commercials that totally ruin the You Tube content we attempt to enjoy. There's a time and place for everything!

If you use the Brave browser, it blocks the YouTube commercials.
