There was also a book published with the ministry's pictures in it, and it was called eh same thing.

Armstrongism was only a 'family' as long as you toed the line. Never heard it, in my neck of the woods, until Senior started trying to hold the crumbling Empire together.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-25489081558923847742011-01-15T14:08:25.606-08:002011-01-15T14:08:25.606-08:00This posting gives much support to something which...This posting gives much support to something which I've come to believe. There are reasons why no part of the former Armstrong movement has been blessed. The splinters have not been blessed because of their rebellion and the fact that they continue to embrace erroneous doctrines, and the main body (now called GCI) became a curse to their own ministry because of the way in which they handled the corrections and changes. Whether there ever was a utopian situation where officials actually cared about the best long-term interests of individual members is up for debate. However, general practices in all of the groups today indicate a lack of sincere care for members or their well-being, whether it involves making up for past wrongs, or putting the flock above one's desire to create new splinters. The movement currently exudes ego, lust for power, and is informed more by accepted business practices than genuine Christianity.

The only real alternatives for people once part of Armstrongism would be to establish a private, personal relationship with Father God and Jesus Christ, and to worship with a group which practices Christian ideals and is being blessed by growth and through their impact on the surrounding community. That those criteria ever existed in the Armstrong churches is one of our modern day religious myths. WCG was a "seeker" church, one that was built by drawing in people who were not well educated in the Bible, the tenets of Christianity, history, or science.

BBByker Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15602697337552385535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-91844411767883308402011-01-15T11:14:25.201-08:002011-01-15T11:14:25.201-08:00The Promised Land Before Them,Toxic Wasteland Behi...The Promised Land Before Them,
Toxic Wasteland Behind Them

My experience.Kennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-70835813417924996162011-01-15T09:22:20.180-08:002011-01-15T09:22:20.180-08:00Hi Dennis,

I often sat there in shock and disbelief, listening to his sermons. He loved history, frequently citing incidents of unspeakable suffering and horror, casually dismissing them with the words, "So what, brethren, so what!" Is it any wonder that the indifference and lack of empathy sifted down to the membership in how they treated one another?

Another key minister of the new COGawa built several sermons around a tiny little bit of skin cancer that his doctor found. Somehow, he seemed to think we would all pray and fast for his recovery. We had a good laugh at that one. Members with serious medical and/or personal tragedies, and never so much as a mention or few words of sincerity from the ministry. But give his removable cancer, suddenly his trial dwarfed any others within the congregation.

There is far more love and compassion in the world the ministry so frequently condemned and ruthlessly judged.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-61227021394694085502011-01-15T04:07:13.303-08:002011-01-15T04:07:13.303-08:00wow...this the time you apply one of the Four Agre...wow...this the time you apply one of the Four Agreements it behooves us to make, about "Never take anything personally." It is not about you, it is about them. Not easy at times, but seems true

The Four Agreements are:

1. Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.DennisDiehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05069884969156562133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-226103369043606765.post-79662408871426073902011-01-15T03:10:56.649-08:002011-01-15T03:10:56.649-08:00"You tell your husband I have no empathy for ..."You tell your husband I have no empathy for him."

MY COMMENT - Typical WCG judgmental self righteous response.

RichardLake of Fire Church of Godnoreply@blogger.com
