Is It Just The Weather Or A Sign Of The End Times? LCG Has The Answer!

Australia Reeling from More Disasters: “In just over a year, the Clarence Valley and Kempsey have experienced drought, floods, bushfires and now another flood. Many other communities on Australia’s east coast are also dealing with their third or fourth significant natural disaster since 2019” (The Guardian, March 23, 2021). Thousands have been evacuated, bridges have been washed out, 200 schools have closed, and homes have floated away (BBC, March 22, 2021). Millions of spiders have invaded neighborhoods near Sidney in an attempt to escape the rising flood waters, and snakes are seeking refuge in trees (The Guardian, March 22, 2021). In Australia, many of those spiders and snakes are deadly poisonous!

At the same time, unusually heavy summer rains spawned a massive eruption of mice (Deutsche Welle, March 19, 2021). One farmer observed, “At night... the ground is just moving with thousands and thousands of mice just running around,” and many farmers are concerned the plague of mice will destroy this year’s crops.

The Bible clearly states that one of the consequences of disobedience to God’s commandments would be that disaster “will come upon disaster” (Ezekiel 7:26), including troublesome plagues of wild animals—especially in the Israelite-descended nations, such as Australia (Leviticus 26:21–22; Revelation 6:8). While these disasters in Australia are not the prophesied end-time plagues themselves, they demonstrate one way in which such plagues may come about. To learn more about what is happening now and what is yet to come, watch our enlightening telecast “2021 in Bible Prophecy.”—Scott Winnail, Chris Sookdeo, and Francine Prater

Yes brethren, let us scare you with doom and gloom, but be assured that these are NOT end-time incidences happening. We know it's just weather and stuff like this has been happening for centuries on a regular pattern, but we like to keep you whipped into a frenzy fearing for the end times, that way you will give us more money for the final push when we say it is time.

Be sure to watch their "enlightening" telecast for direct revelations from God on what is happening! Woooo!

LCG Members: Humble Yourselves So That The Proud Ministry Can Teach You!

The always up lifting Friday love-bomb from Doug Winnail:

COMMENTS

A Key to Spiritual Growth and Success: Many believe the key to success depends on who you know. However, God’s instructions are quite different. Jesus stressed the importance of humility and teachability when He said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” and “Blessed are the meek” because they will inherit the Kingdom of God and reign on this earth (Matthew 5:3–5). God was able to use Moses because he was humble and teachable (Numbers 12:3). Jesus was exalted by God because He humbled Himself and followed God’s instructions (Philippians 2:8–11). Solomon understood that “before honor is humility” (Proverbs 15:33). The Apostle James records, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6–10). Peter records that God will exalt those who are humble and can submit to one another (1 Peter 5:5–6). The prophet Isaiah offers a summary of what God is looking for in those He will reward: “But on this one will I look: on him who is poor [humble] and of a contrite spirit [willing to change], and who trembles at My word [a person who is teachable by God]” (Isaiah 66:2). These scriptures provide us with the real key to spiritual growth and ultimate success.

Have a profitable Sabbath, Douglas S. Winnail

LCG Limiting Feast Sites to 300 - 400 Socially Distanced Attendees

When the church was united in purpose, unlike the divided COG today.
(Remember, this is just ONE of many WCG Feast sites this large)

COMMENT: Looking at the number of States and churches assigned to the respective sites below it is a clear indicator that LCG churches are not large, despite the impression they try to pass off. Their stance on the maximum number of attendees will make it harder for other COG people to Feast hop, as so many like to do, especially if there are several COG groups in the same area.

Get your speed-dial ready LCG members for 12:00 noon EST, May 2, it's going to be a tough fight if you want to transfer!

FEAST OF TABERNACLES Festival Registration—Where Congregations Are Assigned

The Festival Office and Feast Site Coordinators (U.S. and International) met this week in online meetings to discuss this year’s Feast of Tabernacles. Topics included the overall purpose of the Feast and how we are expecting to conduct it this year. This year, in the United States, we are planning for a maximum attendance at most of our Feast sites of around 350–400. We have arranged for venues with room to accommodate this level of occupancy with social distancing. In the United States, we will also be allowing a moderate level of transfer requests (keeping our attendance levels at 350–400 max). However, since transfer requests will not be unlimited, we do encourage as many people as possible to go to their home site. (We’ll have more information about International Feast sites and International transfers at a later date—stay tuned!)

Please note: Festival registration is scheduled to open on Sunday, May 2 at 12:00 noon (Eastern Daylight Time, USA).

Pasadena: Home of Religious Kooks Since 1942

1945 article about The Remnant Church of God who made the same stupid prediction for the end of the world that Herbert Armstrong did and which various COG leaders lie about today claiming HWA never set dates.

Not only has Pasadena produced crackpot Rev. Long, but also L Ron Hubbard, Alistar Crowley, Herbert and Garner Ted Armstrong along with their legion of deluded false prophet dupes, but also the Flat Earth Society which some Church of God members actually believe in.

L Ron Hubbard and Aleister Crowley were friends of Jack Parsons (founder of JPL) who had a house on South Orange Grove Blvd called The Parsonage, where they took drugs and practiced satanism and devil worship.

The Church of God International and Herbert W Armstrong’s Legacy

The late Ian Boyne once wrote: “I am happy for the CGI, to which I belong, which retains the finest teachings of Herbert Armstrong without the dross and the excesses. I am NOT saying it is the only true church! For all GTA’s moral weaknesses and reprehensible personal behavior, he reformed a system without throwing out the baby with the bathwater.  Ron Dart’s work in the CGI has also been invaluable in preserving an intellectually respectable brand of Armstrongism.”

This sentiment (that CGI has gotten rid of all of Herbie’s errors and kept the good stuff) is/was NOT peculiar to Ian Boyne. Indeed, similar comments have been posted here in relation to many of the things which I’ve posted over the years relative to that group. In fact, some commentators have even suggested that my refusal to acknowledge this “fact” is proof that I was never actually affiliated with the group (never mind the numerous articles written by me for The International News over the years). Hence, I thought that it would be instructive to take another look at this claim and see how it measures up to the reality on the ground.

First, I have always been willing to acknowledge that CGI made significant changes to Herbie’s teachings about church government. CGI should be applauded for its more enlightened views on the meaning of servant leadership, but it should also be noted that the group still occasionally practices censorship and disfellowshipping within its ranks. And, while folks like Ian Boyne rejected Anglo-Israelism, Pastor Bill Watson continues to incorporate it into his messages and insist that it is an integral part of the church’s teachings. Also, to be fair, CGI has abandoned some of Herbie’s bizarre notions about things like divorce, make-up, healing, and personal finances.

Nevertheless, I must dispute in the strongest terms available to me that CGI has retained “the finest teachings of Herbert Armstrong.” For instance, the group continues to maintain that Christians are obligated to keep many of the tenets of the Old Covenant (Sabbath, Holy Days, Tithing, Clean/Unclean Meats). Likewise, they have retained many of Herbie’s twisted notions about prophecy, the “incredible human potential,” the “world tomorrow,” angels, Binitarianism, the meaning of Holy Day symbolism, the “truth” as the marker of a real Christian, the “true” gospel and the rejection of all things “pagan.”

I can hear it now, “Well, what’s wrong with those things?” Unfortunately, the plain truth is that the Church of God International has retained MOST of the core doctrines/teachings of Herbert W Armstrong. Yes, a search of their website may not turn up any mention of the man, but his fingerprints are all over the teachings and traditions of the Church of God International – whether or not they’re willing to acknowledge it!
