Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

Jim Franks COGWA's Most Perfect Leader?

In between all the silly doctrines and pronouncements of Apostate Malm there are little tidbits of COG history that are on the mark.  We have all heard how Franks manipulated behind the scenes to help form two break way COG's, all while remaining on his present church payroll.  Malm had this to say:

Jim Franks lied straight out to his peers on the Council denying that he was involved with the dissidents while he was their leader, a facebook group associated with them spread rumurs through 2010, the UCG Current Crisis site was run by the dissenters through 2010, another password protected site was available for elders to contact about joining the rebellion, Franks and Kilough are well known slick politicians and spin doctors long time closely associated. Larry Salyer was deeply involved and tried to make out that he was fired for answering questions. The IAO formed supposedly to help LA and suddenly began to finance the dissidents [preplanned as the financing of the new group all along?]: and they dare to try and deceive people that this was not a planned split. This split was all about control and power as Denny and events make clear. Just wait until they have their system fully in place and then watch the spectre of “OUR AUTHORITY” rise up in COGWA. These guys are smooth politicians like Denny and are well know to be big time bullies if they are questioned. James PS guess who Franks is trying to lure away from UCG to be the public spokesman for any future COGWA outreach? A little hint initials GP of San Antonio.

  1. It should be very clear by this time that the Armstrongist churches of God are very sick. They are completely dysfunctional. They seem to be without redemption.

Apostle Malm isn't improving the situation.

It would be possible to completely reform the ACoGs. It would take some serious dedication and it would be extremely painful and disruptive, but it could be done.

It wouldn't be about glory or salaries or the Alpha Male win.

It would be about thinking outside the tiny little box they are trapped in. They go around and round in an ever shinking circle within a rut. They are trying to recapture the Empire that Herbert Armstrong built, but it is gone for good, they can not rebuild it and it too was sick.

The problem really is that they are so sick that they will never find the way. It's the same old autocratic beauracracy dedicated to narcissism and salaries.

To rescue this utter rubbish as something viable, the first step is an all volunteer ministry with no salaries and no retirement. The next step is utter honesty and integrity. No more ministers setting up a shingle who have committed adultery on their wife dying of cancer. No more brokered deals in smoke filled rooms. What is needed is those dedicated to serving the spiritual needs of the people without one shred of interest in making a profit from it.

    Good luck with that.

In fact, good luck with any of it. It's not going to happen.

The ones who could do something to really fix things stopped listening long ago.

It's just too late and you can be sure that anyone who tries this will end up perverting the entire process and will recreate a new but entirely sick environment because the temptation to use for personal gain is too compelling to resist.

  2. It's really a shame on all of the "ministers" that the money is the most important thing to them, and coming in second place is the power and the prestige that they long for, thinking that they are spritually above the tithe-payers. It's really sad to see those whom you thought were sincere, such as Gary Petty of San Antonio, to follow either UCG or COGWA. What will it take to wake him up to the fact that "ordained ministers" and "tithing" are false doctrines that were never a part of the first century church? Of course, there are other false doctrines that the churches of Armstrong practice, but unlearning these two would be a good start to remove the false premise of the house that Herb built.

  3. Perhaps there is a very good reason(s) that God inspired Christ to say the following and preserve it in two places...as if repetition were the best form of emphasis:

Mt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Lu 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  5. Money, Money, How you thrill me....Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 2:22:00 AM PDT

Its a MONEY MACHINE! And the brethren are paying for what they themselves want: legalism and self-righteousness. They love it!

Only if the people come out of it can they start over and 'worship in spirit and truth.'

  9. So yr saying that Cogwa is not of the truth of Jesus Christ and Almighty God ?? And what is the problem with Herbert Armstrong ? He is why I came into Worldwide in 1972. Are all the things I have learned all wrong or is unsavory rumors the best way to teach the word of God ?! Who’s in charge of all this here say and what do all of u have to gain from trying turn brethren against the Church of God ! Jesus said their will be false preachers at the end time ! Maybe when Christ in Matt 24 said we would hear of wars and rumors of wars , He meant not wars of the world but of the people’s in Gods churches ! Which church do any of u suggest is the right church of God !?? Maybe when Christ said evil will abound , maybe He meant not only of the world but of the people’s of the churches ! There came a time when we were by Jesus Christ to come out of her , I guess He means the world or does He not ? We all will stand before Almighty God and confess our sins , which side are or will u be on, the doersofgood or the evil doers of unrighteousness !Yr choice !
