God and the International Date Line

Did you know that God deliberately did not create land masses and allow humans (particularly COG members) to live throughout most of the Pacific ocean because he knew that humans would create an international date line several thousand years down the road and he did not want a lot of people (COG members, of course) being confused about when to celebrate the Sabbath?  Just one more mind boggling fact that is necessary for our salvation...

We know when the Sabbath is in Jerusalem. The seven day cycle has never been lost. Christ kept the Sabbath, we know that. The Sabbath is 24 hours. This is not rocket science. "Knowledge is easy to him that is in the way". There's a decision to make near the date line, but there's a reason God created the vast pacific ocean and why there's so little out there. God knew what he was doing.

  1. "God knew what he was doing" - but do the Samoans? They just shifted the International Date line for their convenience, losing 24 hours in the process.

Thursday was followed by Saturday, as Friday vanished without a trace.

What's a good Cogger to do?

  2. Yes, didn't you know, God ordained the International Dateline to be drawn across the Pacific ocean. Those Samoans are going to be cast in the lake of fire for tampering with God's International Dateline!

  4. It would also help to realize that back when "God" did this, to all concerned the earth was flat and rested on four pillars, with four corners that had four winds, which is why they chose four Gospels.

    Is this guy serious?

  5. Aside from this amazingly important topic handled so wisely by Rabbi What's His Name, my personal fear has always been standing before God when he sneezes and not knowing what to say..... :)

  6. I mentioned the Samoan "time change" this past Sabbath at a Messianic fellowship. The presiding elder didn't know about it, and didn't know what to say about it.

  7. I thought Herbert Armstrong said we don't set dates.

  8. Yes, God instituted that the Law (and time, ha ha} would go forth from Jerusalem.

So the people in Australia have been keeping the Sabbath before it arrived in Jerusalem :)

This decision sounds along the lines as His reasoning for not placing any clean animals for them to eat there either. Maybe that is the answer - they aren't supposed to be living there because it is God forsaken :)

  9. Talking about time. Maybe we should jump into the Delorean and go back to the past and to when Armstrong was still alive and ask him what his opinion is about the shifting international date line.

  10. I don't find this any sillier than a belief in virgin births and resurrection from the dead.

  11. Where's Herman Hoeh when we need him. He had all the answers. This brings back memories of the 1984 FoT in Nanjing China. Our airplane from San Francisco was running late, and some on it realized that before breakfast was served we would have crossed the Date Line and it would be the DoA. So somebody (perhaps Roman Borek) asked the flight attendants to serve breakfast early, which baffled them but they did it. Many people on the tour had no idea what the date line was all about. Hoeh told us in one of his messages that the original Molad of Tishri happened at 8 a.m. in Jerusalem, which meant that sunset would have been happening down the length of the Pacific Ocean, so it is divinely ordained that that is where the Date Line should be. Which goes to prove ... I dunno.

  12. Dawn of a new day/sabbath begins in Eden..Eden is in the wilderness as it says in Isaiah 51:3..Right remember this;can be near Jerusalem or in Jerusalem because it is the city of God..However Genesis 3:8 tells us that Adam and Eve heard the voice of The Lord walking in the garden in the "COOL of the day"..Right that means sabbath cannot start in Palestina as it is not "Cool" there or anywhere else in the middle-east because they are above altitudes..means pure hot..on the other hand Fiji is on the 180 meridian and matches that cool weather..Also in the wilderness as it says in Isaiah(middle of the ocean where only a few men lives..
