The only thing I see is a blatant request from all members to continue to give as much money as possible because it is their responsibility to do their share in getting this love blast out to all the world so that many can join the true church instead of all. I always though it was the hope of the church that the entire world be reconciled back to God and not just a few select ones.
A church led by God’s Holy Spirit joined and knit together by what every member supplies, with all doing their share and growing in love to fulfill God’s great purpose for humanity to bring many children to glory. (Ephesians 4:16; Hebrews 2:10.).
The opening words of their mission statement ("A church led by God’s Holy Spirit joined and knit together by what every member supplies...") are making, it seems, some very big assumptions.
ReplyDeleteIt assumes that their United Association is actually "a church."
It also assumes that their United Association is "led by God's Holy Spirit."
But what if it is neither of those things? So many with different beliefs claim the same thing and it makes God out to be a God of confusion and division.
If, hypothetically, their association met neither of those assumptions, I think we could still conclude that their association is actually "...joined and knit together by what every member supplies..."
As time continues on, perhaps more will become evident one way or the other...

I thought Jesus Christ was supposed to be the head of the church?
ReplyDeleteIts a load of drivel.
Well, I don't think we can dispute that it is a church. But you seem to say church as though it's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteMy take on it is that it seems to be a way to write the enslavement of the membership right into the mission statement.
How can a non-Trinitarian church be "led" by God's Holy Spirit?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't a truly binitarian church say that God the Father leads the Church, and that He gives the Holy Spirit to Church members so they can learn to follow Him and be like Him? A traditional Armstrong Church of God would say that the Church is knit together by the Holy Spirit, not by "what every member supplies."
I expect Apostle Malm and those who are afraid UCG is going Trinitarian will have a field day analyzing this new mission statement.
The mission of the United Church of God, an International Association is to fleece the flock and suck the remaining financial life's blood out of the people who were already victimized and defrauded by The Worldwide Church of God so that its leadership and ministers can maintain a comfortable lifestyle and have a nice retirement at the expense of the dumb sheep.
ReplyDeleteSimple mission statement to the point - and its accurate and truthful. Where can I send my consulting invoice to so that UCG will pay me for writing their mission statement for them?

Simple mission statement to the point - and its accurate and truthful.
ReplyDeleteRichard, your version is beautiful. I bet it could even make Denny Luker cry.
Then again, a glass of milk could make Denny Luker cry.
UCG MISSION STATEMENT
ReplyDelete(The clear, corrected version)
A cult led back into the world by various evil spirits joined by common sins and divided by what every member does maliciously to others, with all doing their share to cause division and growing in evil to fulfill their own selfish desires for evil to bring many children to shame.
Yay! Let's play UCG mission mad libs!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear Davey Pack's response to this if he posts one over at Longtime Ministers speak out. This is the dumbest thing I ever read. I wrote a more inspiring mission statement when I ran a Help Desk 10 years ago. Makes me want to go dig up my old documents and give them a sample of real writing. Plus a small fee too.
ReplyDeleteThis is not UCG's mission statement. This is their vision statement. The mission statement has not changed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon. Changed the wording
