Will You Trade Eternity For A Dinner Out on Saturday?

Apostate Apostle Malm is really getting ticked at all the rebellious COG folk who have no problem in eating out in restaurants on Saturdays.

16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
We are to accept our burdens on behalf of our calling, and are to faithfully endure persecution and death following the example of Christ.  If we will not even give up polluting the Sabbath now, in the relatively good times; how shall we ever overcome in the hard times?
16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
To trade eternity for a meal in a restaurant now; is a very bad deal!
Why is it that everything  Apostate Malm reads in the Bible he finds a way to condemn those that eat in restaurants on Saturdays. Could Apostate Malm be another fopdoodle?

  1. Malm quotes:

"16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."

Am I missing the part in here somewhere about eating out?

  2. Ooops! I beg your pardon. I should have looked down at the post before this one.

  3. I don't know why Malm beats around the bush so much. Why doesn't he just come right out and say what he obviously means. I think it would be a much better use of his time if he did.

Malm clearly believes that misery is next to godliness. Ascetics don't usually believe the denial of pleasure makes one holy in it's own right, but that the enjoyment of oneself stands in the way of being spiritual. Malm probably believes that both of these are true. For Malm, the rote physical performance of the ritual of sabbath and holy day observances are the most important aspect of religion. The next most important aspects are praying to his god, bible study, keeping your calendar, deleavening your home, baking unleavened bread, making holy, pure, and unadulterated passover wine, and other such preparations necessary for the perfect and flawless observance of rituals pertaining to the other holy days throughout the year. On the other hand, his behavior demonstrates that he believes it is perfectly acceptable to his god for him to blatantly lie in order to appear righteous before other people. There's nothing wrong with that, but perhaps that's another story.

Malm obviously believes Jesus taught the apostles that if you're enjoying yourself on the sabbath, it's a sure sign you're in danger of the lake of hell fire. Also, he believes that the motivation for every other thing a person does should be directly for the purpose of preparing oneself for a strict sabbath observance in which no cooking can be done, no transactions can be made for any purpose, one should not go anywhere except perhaps to church. For example, a few days ago, Malm hinted that a six-course meal on the sabbath is a sin, and that all you should be eating on the Sabbath is leftovers. Nor can you pay a toll, bus fare, or take a taxi, because people everywhere have shiny new busses they want to donate to your church for free. Should you ever have an "ox-in-the-ditch" situation, you can rest assured that this is a sign that your preparation has been sinfully inadequate.

A truly zealous person would never allow anything to distract himself from a single-minded focus on the week-long ritualistic performance of sabbath preparation and observance. All the money one earns and the way one spends every other moment should be planned out and optimized to clear as much time in your schedule to devote to prayer and bible study and the other preparations necessary for perfect observance. Never would a true believer allow himself even so much as a split-second devoted to any earthly pleasure, such as six-course meal. If the sabbath and it's preparation isn't all the fun you need, then this is proof that you are vile and wicked in the sight of god.

A true believer would never watch a secular television program, go to a sports event, or a theme park, spend a day snowboarding, or (heavens!) take a vacation. Only one with a lackadaisical attitude toward his spiritual survival would tolerate departures from the straight and narrow into such sensual pleasures. Stop and consider how such departures might lower the quality of your upcoming sabbath rituals. Or wouldn't that time be better spent in prayer and bible study? What a waste of time. Think of the eternal consequences that could result from such a lack of zeal!

See? Four paragraphs is all Malm would have to write to the world, instead of shouldering the pressures of a daily rant on his blog. Then he could take that vacation to Jerusalem to see the barley and the new moon. Oh, wait. Maybe that still wouldn't be the best use of his time. After all, he might inadvertently have some fun if he did. I could never live the way Malm advocates, but if he wants to, far be it from me to say he shouldn't.

The only thing Malm stops short of is advocating the masochism of Catholic flagellants, however, since he's not dead yet, his "theology" might not yet be complete. Who knows what madness he might yet descend into.

  4. Would I trade a meal in a restaurant now (something) for an imaginary eternity that will never happen (nothing)?

Yep. Seems like a good deal to me.

MY COMMENT - Andrew, are you saying Malm "stopped short"? Anyone familiar with the TV comedy show Seinfeld knows that "the move" on a woman of "stopping short" belongs to Frank Costanza - who accused Kramer of taking his move!

"He stopped short - that's my move!"

Of course, the Prophet Malm and TV comedy have lots in common with each other. Both keep us entertained.
