  1. WHERE ARE THE ITALIAN CYPRUS TREES?

Come on! What kind of lame headquarters is that?

  2. It is very tiny. very small. Teeny weensy little headquarters. Unimpressive and minute.

I've seen more impressive structures with fraternities.

    Now THATS a Headquarters.

  3. I am sorry to see that Dave's HQ is so small. I had hoped that he would borrow and spend himself into bankruptcy funding a much larger monument to his ego.

  4. I'm getting architectural indigestion from this photo.

First thing I'd like to do is play tic-tac-toe on the front facade - there's room for a couple of games at the same time.

I don't know what those outrigger things are on the side facade. Some goofy attempt at style that fails badly. Maybe it will all tie together when they get the teacup installed on top of the saucer.

Three stories with such a small footprint!! This could have been a much nicer building with only one story, and you would have saved the expense of the elevators. I'm guessing there are three of them, minimum two, at a cost of about $75k apiece. But then, if you only have one story you can be impressed with someones third story office. And no one is closer to God if everyone is on the same level.

At this point I gotta give some kudo's to Harmstrong, since he at least knew how to pick decent architects, or knew enough to not play designer as well as church leader. The stuff on the AC Pasadena campus had some problems, but the designs from the Tkach era (Big Sandy), and the stuff in OK or OH (pick 'em) are bad enough to make your eyes water.

And please, don't blame low budgets. Blame low imagination.

  5. But here's another thought...

Perhaps the emphasis on the number three foreshadows a move by Reformed to accept the Doctrine of the Trinity!!

  6. RCG: Building Ruined Lives.

Great for a new addition of Hollywood Squares.

    Building costs are minimal.

Parking lots, on the other hand....

But after all that was said and done, he did it.

But at what cost to the lives of his members?

  7. Um... I'm not sure you could have much of a Feast of Tabernacles there....

  8. Better that funds go into buildings then media. Less people will be sucked into his cult because the message will go out to fewer people.

  9. Where are the Cypress trees tall and stiff with the rounded bushes at their base: very phallic

  10. This final design of DCP's World Headquarters building was suddenly 40% larger than originally planned.

Originally, three buildings were going to go up all at once, due to a lack of time left in this age, but the funding was not there. More buildings are planned for the future. It might turn out that there is enough time left after all to do lots of building. The "fundraising" that everyone in the RCG is expected to do on top of sending in tithes and offerings can be expected to continue for quite some time.

The reason DCP is able to get "true believers" to go with him and support his RCG is simply because the other splinter groups have now shown themselves to be so confused, corrupt, and disgusting.

Having actual physical buildings will appear to give DCP a certain credibility that the numerous false prophets with just a Web site or a Blog will never really have.

Those who do not know, or who do not remember, that HWA claimed to be doing God's last, end-time work will now have an opportunity to rebuild it.

  11. ohh it looks too cold. When is someone going to build one of these in Florida, then I might join for the winter. At least HWA chose southern LA.

  12. Yes, it's cold, just like Dave Pack.

  13. Is the window higher than three stories? If not, please jump from rooftop. Try landing on the top of your head.

  14. 'Building Better Lives'

    For whom?

  15. As lambs to the slaughter. They are lead to destruction by false promises of nourishment.

  16. When the Maranatha people from Ohio end up buying it for pennies on the dollar, they'll probably clean it up somewhat and maybe even make it functional.

I don't know how to even comment on building programs within a group that preaches imminent apocalypse, other than there is some sort of subliminal conflict somewhere in the mix. You could probably rent even nicer quarters short term, accomplish whatever job you think you've been called to more efficiently, and let someone else worry about maintenance and upgrade. But, far be it from anyone to rethink all of HWA's business models.

Regarding the picture caption: Dagon's Temple rises in Wadsworth Ohio

That is NOT the Temple. That is the Hall of Administration.

After it is complete there will be some other buildings.

The Temple--actually an Auditorium--will probably be built last.
