UPDATE: Rod Meredith Calls Fast for February 23 to Ask For God's Protection From Satan, Declining Income, and From Certain Men Who Seek To Divide the Church

2nd UPDATE  Apparently Rod Meredith sent out two letters a day apart. One to be read in the churches and the other a more begnin co-worker letter.  The first letter below is about the current division within LCG. The second letter below is the one specifically sent out by Meredith and is on the web site.

Rod Meredith of the Living Church of God sent the following letter to his members concerning a fast that he wants the church to do on February 23.  Rod claims that the LCG is on the verge of doing a mighty work that will speak out against the gays and other evils in the British Israelite nations. Because of that forceful preaching the LCG is being attacked by Satan.

Also in the letter is a part about the church being protected from certain men who are causing division.  Has the self-appointed,  non-ordained false prophet Thiel finally become a thorn in LCG's side?  Are people in LCG actually dumb enough to follow the joke that is Thiel?

This first letter is the letter that had to include Rod's favorite topic - SEX.

FROM THE PRESIDING EVANGELIST

Dear Brethren and Friends,

With the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, prophetic events in Europe and elsewhere will no doubt speed up a great deal! Mankind is in desperate need of God’s Kingdom and His righteous way of life. Here in the United States, with President Obama’s obvious approval of so-called “same-sex” marriage, the homosexual agenda is continuing to heavily influence nearly every facet of society. Maryland has become the eighth state to approve same-sex marriage. And in Great Britain, the House of Commons has just voted to approve this abomination. Even the French—normally thought of as a “romantic people”—are preparing to join in this satanic push to bring much of the formerly professing “Christian” world into line with ancient Sodom and Gomorrah!

How much longer until God Himself puts a final stop to this egregious behavior? As Almighty God looks down from heaven, He is looking for men and women with the genuine faith and courage to boldly proclaim His Truth. God declares that the modern “house of Israel has become dross to Me” (Ezekiel 22:18). Regarding our modern “mainstream” ministers, God states, “Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them” (v. 26). Indeed, it is sorrowful to realize that hundreds of millions of formerly professing Christians have been led down this road! Untold millions of our young people have somehow been led to totally confuse what is “clean” and what is “unclean.” They have not been taught that by professing ministers of God.

So Almighty God is looking for “a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (v. 30). Dear brethren, let that not be our epitaph—that we were not willing to “stand in the gap” and powerfully warn our peoples of what is just ahead unless we profoundly repent of our horrifying behaviors! We are now being cleverly led into these things by Satan the Devil—often with the connivance of false ministers.

As all of you know, we in this Work are doing our very best to proclaim the Truth. Just this past Sunday, we presented a powerful “live” Tomorrow’s World Presentation wherein I strongly proclaimed God’s Truth, “warned” our peoples against homosexuality and the other abominations of the land. And I tried to help our people realize the absolute necessity for the return of Christ as King of kings. Our Father in heaven has certainly blessed this Work over the last several years. This past year, God granted us 12 percent financial increase for which we thank Him deeply. We have had a great deal of unity and loyalty throughout our congregations and in this Work as a whole. Within the last two months, Mr. Richard Ames and I have added a number of very fine television stations to the roster of those stations carrying the Tomorrow’s World program. Our impact is increasing weekly. We do have much to be thankful for.
But Satan the Devil knows that we are now on the verge of doing a far more powerful Work than ever. So Satan is stirring up trouble and trying to divide and confuse God’s people.

Within the last few weeks, the income for this Work has dropped somewhat, and a spiritual malaise has appeared to set in among a number of people. They have apparently “taken for granted” all the work we are doing and the blessings God has given. Some have “let down their hair”—spiritually speaking—and are becoming easy victims for Satan’s devices. We sincerely love these people. We fervently pray for them for their spiritual salvation. But we—as a Church—must rouse ourselves to draw even closer to God and to honor His name in every way so that He may use us even more powerfully to proclaim His Truth and to “finish the Work” as Almighty God certainly wants us to do.

In this semi-public letter, I certainly do not want to go into details or name names. But I hope all of you who are aware of my ministry for the past 60 years will have enough faith that God is guiding me in this Work that you will join me and our Headquarters team in praying fervently that God will help us overcome any weaknesses that are appearing in our spiritual “armor”! Our Father in heaven wants us to “reflect Jesus Christ” in everything we think, say and do. Most of our ministers and brethren are certainly doing this. But Satan is on the prowl. God’s word tells us that he is constantly watching and waiting to destroy the people of God. In his letter near the end of his life, the Apostle Peter warned, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world” (1 Peter 5:8-9).

All of our leading ministers here at Headquarters join me in asking all of you brethren to join us in a spiritual fast a week from this coming Sabbath—which will be on the Sabbath of February 23. I ask that all of our ministers and elders and leaders of various little groups around the world show complete fidelity  and join with us in leading your brethren to fast and seek God’s help beginning Friday evening at sunset and ending Saturday evening at sunset on February 22 and 23. We know that a few local Church picnics, activities, parties, etc. will no doubt be interrupted. But we do not need to “wait” before seeking God, as Satan is certainly not “waiting” before attacking the very Church of the living God at this time!
Passover is coming. We all need to draw closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to God our Father in every way. We all need to realize our great need to look to the sacrifice of Christ to cover the sins and transgressions we have all committed. We also need to look to Jesus Christ the living Head of God’s true Church (Ephesians 1:22-23) to inspire, guide and deliver us from every trial and test in this life and bring us into God’s everlasting Kingdom. He is our Savior. He is our Head and High Priest. He was sent here by the Father Himself to set us the example of the perfect life all of us should be living—totally surrendered and walking with God in every way.

Dear brethren, this Work will carry on with increasing power as it always has—if we do our part. But I do ask you, in Jesus’ name, to heartfeltly join with us “seeking God” and earnestly giving of yourselves in this period of fasting and prayer that God will rebuke and chasten, cleanse and purge and then empower all of us—individually and collectively—to “finish the course” and fully prepare ourselves and the Church of God for Christ’s coming Kingdom. Thank you, dear brethren, for your love, for your loyalty, your support and your extra help at this time.

With Christian love,
Roderick C. Meredith

By Roderick C. Meredith

Dear Brethren and Co-Workers with Christ,

Greetings from Charlotte, NC! How much longer? How much longer can this sick society continue until the Creator has to intervene? All around us we see confused, disillusioned and discouraged people—far more than at any other time in my 82 years of life! Virtually every thinking person seems to be aware that “something” is going terribly wrong in this world’s society!

But practically no one has any real understanding of the genuine cause of this universal malaise.

      Why?

The true answer—if you are actually willing to believe the Bible—is that the Eternal God is not now “trying” to save humanity. Otherwise, everyone would understand why we were born, what is the real purpose for our lives, etc. But the Creator is now allowing humanity to “go its own way” for a period of around 6,000 years. Then, He will send Jesus Christ back to this earth to truly “save” humanity from destroying itself (Matthew 24:22). Right now, however, God reveals in His inspired Word, “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). In order to allow humanity free rein to experiment with its own humanly devised systems of government, religion, education, etc., God is allowing mankind to go its own way—and eventually come to realize the utter emptiness, the suffering, and the mental, physical and emotional agony that a world without God produces.

Also, of course, God is allowing Satan the Devil to exacerbate the sufferings brought about by man’s rejection of God’s way. The Bible reveals the battle for your mind being waged by Satan the Devil, “…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others” (Ephesians 2:2-3).

Indeed, we have all been “children of wrath”—sinful human beings cut off from God. However, within a comparatively few years, God Almighty will intervene! As God’s inspired Word tells us again and again, the true Christ of the Bible will return to save humanity from itself:  “And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!’” (Revelation 11:15).

Until that happens, however, those people who have had their minds opened to God’s precious Truth should be realistically preparing for the soon-coming Government of God to be set up on this earth under the returning Jesus Christ. Over and over, my friends, God’s Word makes it very clear what we should be doing right now.

In the famous “Parable of the Pounds” in Luke 19:11-27, Jesus Christ clearly describes how His true servants ought to grow in their capacity to serve until He returns. For the faithful Christians who truly “overcome” and grow, Christ promises the opportunity to rule in His coming Government. To the person whose pound or “mina” increased tenfold, Christ states, “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities” (v. 17). To the one who was also faithful but only increased half as much, Christ stated, “You also be over five cities” (v. 19).

As Jesus Christ directly states in Revelation 2:26-27, “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father.” Again, in describing the inspiring “Song of the Saints,” God’s Word reveals, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:9-10).

Could anything be more clear? True Christians in the Church of God today are called by God not only to obtain personal salvation. Rather, we are charged by Jesus Christ to do two major things:

I.       “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16). As all of you Tomorrow’s World readers should know, the true “Gospel” is the Good News of the coming Kingdom or Government of God. As Jesus explained, “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).

II.   The second thing all genuine followers of Christ are instructed to do is to become those “overcomers” who will assist Christ in ruling over the cities and nations of this entire world upon Christ’s return. Remember, Jesus Christ is the “King of kings and the Lord of lords” (Revelation 19:16). True Christians are right now supposed to be “in training” for that awesome responsibility. That is why the Apostle Paul was inspired to tell us, “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?” (1 Corinthians 6:2-3).

My friends, are you personally really studying the inspired Word of God regularly? Are you meditating about your God-given purpose in life? And are you fervently praying for God’s help in overcoming your own weak human nature, overcoming the distractions and temptations of this world, and overcoming the constant bombardment of Satan’s attacks with his input of wrong attitudes being pushed at you continually?

Truly, we are in a genuine spiritual “battle” in all of this. But our Almighty Father loves us and He intends that we become overcomers—if we are truly “stirred up” to do our part with zeal. Yet, with Jesus Christ living His life within us through the Holy Spirit, we can and we will make it! As the Apostle Paul stated, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Please be totally honest, my friends! Recognize the fact that it is only through this Work that most of you have become fully informed about the true understanding of why you were born, about what your real purpose is, and how to achieve that purpose! We are doing everything we can to strengthen you, to encourage you and to inspire you to achieve God’s great purpose for your very life! In turn, thousands of you have already been helping and supporting this Work in a wonderful way for which we thank you very much! Your fervent prayers and encouragement, your faithful tithes and generous offerings have made it possible for us to accomplish a great deal this past year in spreading the genuine truth of Almighty God. Our television programs are now regularly bringing in five to seven thousand responses almost every single week—some responses coming in at even eight thousand for one week’s program! Recently, we have added a number of new television stations including:  KPXB in Houston, TX, airing Sunday mornings at 10:30; Beaumont, TX, has KBTV airing Sunday mornings at 6:30; WZME airs in New Haven, CT, at 11:00 Sunday evenings and reaches the New York and Long Island areas as well; WPXW in Washington, DC, airs Sunday mornings at 10:30; KPXC in Denver, CO, airs Sunday mornings at 9:00; and KCWI in Des Moines, IA, airs Sunday mornings at 7:00. We are also working on more opportunities and pray that we will have the opportunity and the income to begin to reach far more millions of our fellow human beings with this end-time message as God makes possible. Again, none of this could have been accomplished without God’s guidance and without your dedication and your financial backing. Thank you!

My dear friends, most of you—as well as we here in Charlotte—realize we are really near the “end” of this present age. God is watching as to how stirred up we are about reaching our fellow human beings before it is too late. We all know that only God will be able to truly bless and to reward us in the magnificent way He promises. In His inspired Word, our heavenly Father promises, “And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together” (John 4:36). The great God of the universe indicates that He will give “wages” leading to eternal life for those who help reap this spiritual harvest at the end of the age! Let us all get truly excited and energized with the opportunity we have been given to be a direct part of His Work at the end of this age.

Even now, at 82 years of age, I am going “all out” in trying to reach this world with Christ’s message while I have the strength and the opportunity. I am far from perfect, but I am earnestly trying to give my life to the God who gives me breath and do His Work while there is opportunity. May God inspire us all to be energized and absolutely zealous in preparing for His coming Kingdom and therefore have the privilege of being rewarded forever in the very Kingdom and Family of the great God who gives us life and breath! God’s Work does need your help now. Our income has fallen somewhat at the beginning of the year, and I personally ask you to be unusually generous as best you can. Let us truly go “all out” in honoring our great Creator, dear brethren, and letting God know exactly where we stand by serving Him with all of our being.

                                                                                    With Christian love,

  1. Wow! Sounds so heavy! Are LCG ministers and members actually being jailed or martyrred?

  2. Has it occurred to Rod Meredith that LCG's confusion, division, and drop in income could be his own fault? No! Somehow, when things go wrong in Rod's world, it is everybody else's fault except his own.

Notice how Rod says nothing in his letter about the offenses caused at last December's Charlotte Winter Weekend, right before LCG’s income collapsed. Does Rod apologize, or even acknowledge that his arrogant son, on Rod’s behalf, deeply offended long-time loyal members at that event? No! Does Rod promise to abandon his policies of nepotism and ignoring the sins of his family and friends, while applying a hypocritical double standard ruining the lives of others whose sins are not as grievous? No! He just blames other people, instead of examining himself!

Also, Rod doesn’t explain why his statements in his live Internet presentation last week contradicted what Doug Winnail has been teaching about 2 Thessalonians 2:3. Winnail says people who don’t accept his new teaching about the falling away are deceived. Is Rod now deceived?

Speaking of that presentation, Rod has told LCG members that his presentation last week reached a larger live audience of non-members than HWA or GTA ever reached in any of their personal appearance campaigns. How can Rod expect God to prosper LCG while he goes around telling such big whoppers?

So, should someone tell Rod about all this? Magic 8 Ball says "Doubtful." Does anybody seriously expect Rod could hear the truth, when he can’t even bring himself to tell the truth?

  3. I seriously doubt that Thiel is having much of an impact on LCG's income. I think it is far more likely that LCG's income drop is a result of the Social Security tax going back up on Jan 1 and because of infighting between different factions within LCG itself - Ministers jockeying for position for when Rod expires.

  4. "This past year, God granted us 12 percent financial increase...Within the last few weeks, the income for this Work has dropped somewhat..."

That's all it comes down to--MONEY!
Just like HWA, Meredith defines God's approval with the amount of money he rakes in!

"But I hope all of you who are aware of my ministry for the past 60 years will have enough faith that God is guiding me in this Work..."

Or is Satan the one that is really misguiding you? Or perhaps it's your own fallible and unstable mind? HWA wasn't an "apostle" or "prophet or the "Elijah to come." All of his theology was cut from other Christian cults--big and small--including Catholicism, Adventism, British-Israelism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. and pasted together to form his own franken-version of "God's Truth."

I suggest you fast and repent Meredith for being taken in by HWA as a young and naive kid who filled your mind with false promises that appealed to your carnality and ego. And judging by his "fruit," which was exposed for all to see over time--lies, double standards, corruption, family breakups, sexual deviency and division--is it any wonder why his followers are, as you put it, cursed with "spiritual malaise"? We're only beginning to see the ultimate fatal "fruits" of Armstrongism and your group will be no exception (Proverbs 14:12)!!!

  5. Meredith says he wants people to have "enough faith that God is guiding me in this Work."

Doesn't Meredith have enough faith that God is guiding the members of God's Church to give their tithes and offerings as God inspires them? Apparently not!

At best, Meredith's approach is insulting to faithful Christians. At worst, it's self-idolatry.

  6. Hey, instead of that fast, how about some "extra help" at this time. I would bet that Rod does no fasting on the 23rd or any other day. Ol' Herb didn't even fast on the Day of Atonement (health reasons, don'cha know?)

Hard to believe that I turned down a smoked Virginia Ham from my boss for Christmas back in '70's. I should have sent it to Herb & Co. they have no problem eating such things if served by their Japanese "sons".

What a bunch of hypocrites the Armstrongs and their cronies are.

" beginning Friday evening at sunset and ending Saturday evening at sunset on February 22 and 23. We know that a few local Church picnics, activities, parties, etc. will no doubt be interrupted"

REALLY?!! Church picnics, activities and parties on the Sabbath???????

WHAT?!?!!?!?!!?!?! No way! Can't be worse then the church potlucks, I guess, huh?

    Sabbath keepers? Whatever. :)

  8. The LCG should fast and pray for one of two things:

    1) That God would execute judgment against Roderick Meredith for being a false prophet for 60 years and deserves the death penalty;

    and / or

    2) That Roderick Meredith accept Jesus as his personal Savior.

To reiterate: "I don't often fast, but when I do, I ask for money".

    What a Swindler.

How about a Steven Spielberg movie, Swindler's List starring Roderick Meredith.

  9. Anon: you wrote:" Does Rod apologize, or even acknowledge that his arrogant son, on Rod’s behalf, deeply offended long-time loyal members at that event? "

That is the second or third time this has been referred to. How about some specifics, no names, just what happened?

Also, if the italics were Merediths, funny the people letting their hair down in one paragraph are itlicized along with Satan and his way, interesting. Hmmm. letting hair down, did his son finally get a hair cut?

  10. Well, if their income was UP 12% last year and doing so in a very sluggish economy, it is natural to expect a bit of "backing and filling" , especially since inflation was only 1.7% last year.

The economy has slowed in the last quarter, being almost negative .

This past week, Wal Marts CEO Michael Duke called February sales numbers a "Total Disaster". Since the overall COG is working class and Walmart level buyers, there obviously would be a correlation.

Taxes are up, as was stated, at least 2% on just the Social Security revision. Health care costs have risen tremendously as well.

No, people are not "being more evil" in the church, and the rising tide or lowering tide of the economy does indeed effect all boats.

No, it isnt Thiel, nor even Meredith's son. Just the economic cycle.

  12. beginning Friday evening at sunset and ending Saturday evening at sunset on February 22 and 23. We know that a few local Church picnics, activities, parties, etc. will no doubt be interrupted

Yes, it seems strange that Meredith's letter castigates those who have profaned the Sabbath, yet he admits that LCG's fast will interrupt a few parties and other activities previously scheduled by LCG.

What kind of church activities that are Sabbath-appropriate in the first place would be ruined by a Sabbath fast?

Something about this letter seems very strange.

  13. I will tell you right now what is wrong in LCG. A huge part of the issue right now involves Meredith's idiotic son. If people thought Raymond McNair was a buffoon, this guy far exceeds him.

It is obvious to many that Meridith is grooming his son to take over after his death. Many men in the upper echelons do not like his son and have been very vocal about it.

Despite Bob Thiel being the fool he is, there have actually been over 150 people that HQ thinks have migrated over to him.

Be prepared for a firestorm when Meredith dies. LCG will fracture into probably 3-4 different groups.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I also forgot to add that there are quit a few LCG members who have gay sons and daughters and are getting sick of the hate that Meredith and others dish out. They know their kids are not the perverts that Meredith has labeled them as. There are several in the Charlotte office and congregation. I have to wonder what they feel like sitting there listening to this swill week after week.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think it is far more likely that LCG's income drop is a result of the Social Security tax going back up on Jan 1

In the minds of rational observers, this is for sure the biggest factor. But it probably doesn't even register in the mind of Rod Meredith.

I can picture him checking a member's January tithes and offerings, and noticing that the member who gave $300 in 2012 gave just $280 in 2013. Would Rod think, "Even with higher taxes, and less take-home pay, this member made a bigger sacrifice in 2013 to give as much he gave"?

Of course not! Rod practices the way of "get." All he can see is that the member gave less, and so must be slacking off or letting down. This is the sickness that runs LCG (and other ACOG cults).

    ReplyDelete
  16. The COG cults are not the only ones seeking new ways to bring in money. The Jehovah's Witnesses are doing the same thing. It looks like more and more people are finally waking up to the reality that these groups are not only cults but scam artists.

    ReplyDelete
  17. WHICH son of Meredith are we talking about and what has he done to elicit such animosity?

    ReplyDelete
  18. The COG's are dying, and they will cease to exist in a couple of generations. They have been steadily dwindling since HWA's death. They cannot recruit enough new members, nor retain their children. It is a foregone conclusion. Rest easy. In the scheme of things, it won't be long now.

  19. It seems to me that one of the letters is specifically to brethren, and another is a letter to co-workers and brethren.

This was a common practice of Armstrong as well.

If anyone has clarification, please post it here.

  20. It is pathetic how it's the same old canned formula over and over and over and over and over... Doesn't he get tired of trying to find new ways to phrase the same thing? How many times has he written this exact letter? Thousands? How many times has he given this exact sermon? Trite, corny, and cliche.

    1) Gloom and doom! Sickness, confusion, disillusion, discouragement! Everything is terribly wrong and no one knows why! Oh my!

    2) It's because everyone has rejected god's way and fell in love with Satan!

    3) Jesus is coming to punish all those pseudo-christians, so join us and become a "true christian."

    4) Aren't you glad I let you become a "true christian"? So send me money today and I'll also send you eternal life, absolutely free!

    5) With christian love (whatever that means...)

  21. Members and leaders have too much invested in the theology, organizaion, etc. to allow themselves to acknowledge that they might be wrong. It would be too emotionally traumatic. Imagine if a family member dies due to lack of medical care; or elderly people who hoped to retire and are living in poverty (1975 and all). No, these people will not admit error. And when the leaders die off and the organizations wither away, there will be new leaders with new false teachers leading astray a new generation of followers. There will always be people who want absolute answers, someone to tell them what to do and how to do it, want to feel "special", There will always be egomaniacs who want to be venerated. The names of the organizatons will change. The unique teachings will change. The beat goes on . . . . and on . . . and on.

  22. Good point. The whole thing is actually one big straw man fallacy. The first point is the false premise, that everything is going to hell, which it isn't. And then everything else is just going to town on that straw man, which is the setup to the real point: the old "income is down, send in anything you can spare" routine.

  33. "With the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, prophetic events in Europe and elsewhere will no doubt speed up a great deal!"

Through out all the decades of "events speeding up," we should be about near the speed of light by now where it travels no distance and takes no time to get there.

  36. I think HWA stayed in "power" way too long. In fact he had lost control and some of his marbles. Have they heard of the word "retire". Most of us start going downhill towards the end, even the Pope seems to be aware of it. Is it possible HWA went senile and that is part of the reason everything fell apart. They are like a bunch of aged rock stars. I like to see a young good looking guy up at the pulpit or on the stage. HWA must have known this at one time because GTA was replacing him as a public face, so maybe it is all that profligate son's fault. Of course that is not taking into account that everything (most) they said was false and misinformed. Shame their sons just don't measure up to the task must be disappointing to the old codgers.

  37. I think there were a few marbles that HWA never had to begin with, hence his symptoms of sociopathy.

GTA didn't fall far from the tree, but he never had that focus and drive to succeed at the family business the way dad did, which is not unusual. So he didn't have that to balance out the narcissism, so temptation combined with a feeling of entitlement meant he took big risks. IMHO HWA was a pro at doing and not getting caught, but GTA never reached more than amateur status. Result was that he wasn't able to keep his shit under wraps and out of the public eye.

GTA did our cause more good than any outside dissident ever could. His shenanigans drove a wooden stake right into the heart of daddy's legacy.

  38. Feazell said as much in his book- that Herbert did not always have "lucid" days, that he forgot things at times, etc. For better or worse, he appears to have been a notably dynamic and productive individual even at advanced age, but definitely under the effects of it.

    M.T.P, it's like this:

You have a goal (distance to go) and you walk half way to it and hesitate.

Then you look at the remaining distance to go and step out in faith and walk half-way to that goal...and hesitate.

Just keep doing that, and it doesn't really matter how fast one goes.

And maybe that is "just as well," because they set up a false goal to begin with, but time will tell....

  41. The Living Church News January- February 2013

Page 2 " Brethren, I want to strongly encourage all of you to genuinely go "all out" in backing the very Work Christ is doing through us on this earth today! I know that most of you are doing this. But many do "let down"- especially after the Feast when the income for God's Work often drops for a number of weeks. But above and beyond that, I not long ago received a letter from one of our fine ministers who has in recent times had the experience of several older people dying in his congregational areas. This very sincere and serving minister- not a " money grubber"- wrote me: " Of them all, two were moderately wealthy. Neither looked or acted wealthy but they were farmers and left quite an inheritance. One left $300,000 and a nice home, the other left 300 acres with quite a bit of nice river frontage. At $1,500 per acre that would be $450,000. At $2,000 per acre that would be $600,000. This is why I mention it. The one man said strongly the one thing he wanted to avoid was having his stepchildren, who seemed to hate him, inherit. He left no will, so of course the stepchildren got it all. Dr. Meredith, I feel we are missing a special opportunity by not bringing the possibility of leaving all or part of their inheritance to the attention of the Church." Brethren, following through on this suggestion from this fine minister, I would like to take the opportunity now to encourage many of you who are growing older to think about giving a good part or all of your estate to the Work of the living God. Many of you, no doubt, would like to do this but "simply have not gotten around to it." Many want to do it, as this one man said- but simply put off making a will so that your intentions will be carried out when you die. God's word encourages responsibility and wise estate planning. " A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous" ( Proverbs13:11). Pray that God will give you wisdom in planning for how your assets may be helpful to your children-and to God's Church- after you die. And it is important that you think about this, because if you just " do nothing" your estate may go to people who will not appreciate what you are leaving behind, or it may go to the state and be part of the budget of some government treasurer to use as he desires!"...........
