Prophet Thiel: Still Waiting For The GCG/LCG/WCG/UCG/COGWA/EnCOG/ECG to Move Over To The Dark Side

Prophet Thiel's bitterness towards Rod Meredith and the Living Church of God grows stronger each day.  Prophet Thiel writes how he had to tell Meredith that he and the LCG are no longer doing the work.

Perhaps I should mention that Dr. Meredith did send me an unusual email this week, and in my reply, I told him that "without changes, I do not believe that LCG can possibly be the group that God will use to complete the final phase of the work. I have totally committed myself to support the Philadelphian end time work of God, which is why, to a great degree because of steps you did and did not take, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) had to be formed."

Maybe those in LCG should realize that God may not be giving that group as much favor anymore? LCG no longer truly leads God's work. Hopefully, possibly because of its fast today, some will be better able to reflect on that.
Then the prophet makes a comment that shows he just does not  truly get it.  He thinks that all the people in the hundreds and hundreds of splinter groups will eventually wake up and move over to the dark his side.  Doesn't he realize ludicrous it is to even write this?

GCG/LCG/PCG/RCG/WCG/GCI/UCG/COGWA/EnCOG/ECG......

Doesn't the worlds biggest buffoon prophet realized that the hundreds and hundreds of splinter groups will NEVER join together to accomplish any mighty work  There are to many egos and big heads in the picture.  Just look at the ego of prophet Thiel!  He will not share the spotlight with anyone.  He wanted to do it with Rod Meredith and got swiftly rebuked.

We in the Continuing Church of God are boldly going forward with the work. We are leading the final phase of the work. Hopefully, more who were once part of GCG/LCG/WCG/UCG/COGWA/EnCOG/ECG, etc., as well as those who are newer seekers of the truth, will be like the Bereans and search to see that these things are so (Acts 17:10-12).

The Bereans would laugh at the Continuing Church of God!

  1. Thiel's so nuts it's hard to comment.

To get positively snarky, we could say that because Meredith's Church is the only one whose name is "Living" but is really really dead, it must be the Sardis Era (note that this is ironic satire, please!).

In fact, LCG nor any of the other kook cults of Herbert Armstrong ever had the truth: Neither British Israelism is viable, nor is their ersatz plagiarized (from Ellen G. White) history, replete with Sabbath keepers who never were.

Frankly, that GCG/LCG/PCG/RCG/WCG/GCI/UCG/COGWA/EnCOG/ECG...... looks like the DNA sequence of some species that's about to become extinct.

  3. What a self righteous little prick this guy is

Doesn't it seem that people who stick around in any of the splinters for any length of time end up taking on key character traits of their splinter leader?

Think of the anger that is so common from ex-PCGers.

Think of the self-righteousness that is so common from ex-LCGers.

Think of the intellectual arrogance that is so common from ex-Hulmeites.

Prophet Bob really is a Meredithite, no matter how much he may try to distance himself from the man.

  5. Actually, from what I read on his "Why Bob Thiel (yes, third person) Left the LCG" essay, one of his key points was that LCG refused to recognize that a "prophet" is higher in rank than an "evangelist".

So apparently, once he decided he was a prophet, he just couldn't comprehend why Meredith wouldn't hand the keys over to him?

(Never mind HWA's line about "No prophets are mentioned as having either administrative, executive or preaching functions in the New Testament Church" in MOA. Flurry can't live with it and I guess Thiel can't either, even tho Thiel has an essay against Flurry mentioning that very quote.)

  6. Interesting link there, Dennis. It really shows how wacky people can become as a result of hard-core belief in bizarre fundamentalist religion. The ranting female slob depicted in the segment has many of the same traits of COG bozos like Thiel, except she tends to express those traits in a more pentecostal type of way, complete with screaming and other highly emotional displays of her righteousness. But the underlying religious attitudes are pretty much synonymous.

  7. I am not sure about Jon alen's post.

No2HWA said, "Doesn't the worlds biggest buffoon prophet realized that the hundreds and hundreds of splinter groups will NEVER join together to accomplish any mighty work."

MY COMMENT - With all due respect, there are other COG cult personalities that compete for the title of "biggest buffoon prophet". I won't mention any names, but Ron Weinland certainly comes immediately to mind.

  8. Bob Thiel is just the latest ego in a long line of egos, who has proven that he is so full of himself that he cannot work with anyone else unless HE is THE top dog in charge. Just the latest ego to believe that HE is the one and only person that god is talking to. Just the latest ego to wonder why everyone in the world doesn't recognize the stupendousness of his grandeur.

Come back down to earth, Bob. You're just a regular guy, just like every other regular guy.

  9. Witless Weinland being a convicted criminal puts him in a completely different category from Thiel, IMO. Both categories being atrocious, I think it goes without saying.

Additionally, I would like to apologize to everyone, especially to Sharon, (and Leonardo/Gary) for losing my temper in the comments yesterday.

  10. In Eph 4:11 where it lists apostles, prophets, evangelists, etc. HWA always taught that these were ranks, as in the military with the apostle being at the top. Perhaps they are not ranks but functons listed in the sequence they appear on the scene. The apostle goes out first to scout out the land; if there is potential there then the evangelist arrives. Once there are believers who need to be taught, the pastor/teacher comes. Each of these working side by side, no one "above" anyone else.
But, if this is the case, there would be no way for some to express their huge egos and no power struggles to entertain the masses. That would take all the fun out of having a career in a church organization.

  11. All while he's had his COGwriter site, he has displayed the same types of fruits and character as he is displaying right now. You could always see that in all of his writings, as well as from his occasional participation in other blogs that actually allowed free speech type reader participation.

He's always been an irascible, self-righteous prick and wannabe authority figure. Uncle Roddy just finally lost patience with him. Apparently it was just too much when the dude started making flamboyant self-glorifying claims when someone annointing him for a cold (who didn't speak English as his original language) accidentally chose the wrong words.
It's laughable, him actually even thinking this makes him a prophet.

  12. Anonymous @ 5:31am -- I'm not sure how the organization you're positing would even work (Isn't this what Paul had to write a correction for, because the congregation devolved into chaos as a result?), but your last comment is a sad reflection on the cynical state of affairs both in and out of the Church, unfortunately. (I agree with the cynical comment BTW.)

Junior keeps harping on the party li(n)e, "We are many things to many people." I guess he's trying to make people think it's chaos in the Church, so no one will return. While it is chaotic in the Church (most especially for those looking to follow men, and for those looking to lead men), as long as one follows the Head of the Church (protip: the Head of the Church is NOT Junior), everything tends to (for the most part) slide right off.

If you compare the Church (and even the splinter groups/those who have left the Church) to Jerusalem at the time of Jesus and the disciples, under Roman(pagan) rule, with false prophets crying out on every corner, there are absolutely clear parallel between what those who followed Jesus at that time went through, and what those of us who are following Him now are going through.

At least, that's how it seems to me. As I often say, and will continue to repeat, I might be wrong!
