Apostle Malm Declares: Coffee Pots and Kettles OK To Use On My Sabbath

Which one is more appropriate for Sabbath Coffee?

The Chief Pharisee has spoken!  So let it be said, so let it be done!
When we are commanded not to bake or boil on the Sabbath, does that mean we should not be using our kettles or coffee makers?

To bake or seethe [simmer] refers to the preparation and cooking of food over a period of time; not to simply warming some water. It is a matter of giving the homemaker a day off, and the Sabbath should not become a burden. Heating water in a coffeemaker requires no supervision and no work, just the flicking of a switch. James

  1. What type of cookware was used for Herbert W. Armstrong's food and beverages on the Day of Atonement?

  2. So is everything else that uses electricity!
Malm needs to learn about the "shabbos switch".

  3. Apostle Malm is so inconsistent!

So much for the incredible zeal to obey every single minute utterance of the deity. He is taking a clear command not to boil, and saying, it's okay to boil. He's taking a clear command not to light a fire, and saying it's okay to light a fire.

    Where did his zeal go?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's okay to make coffee seven days a week too, but why can't he apply whatever contorted logic it took him to come clean on this point, and be consistent about applying it to the rest of the bible? Then he could put his bible back on the shelf, or the trash, or on a bonfire, and turn his attentions and his blog to something more interesting?

More to the point, what gives this sad-sack bag-of-hammers the impression that his opinions about anything are any more important than anyone elses? From where did he get the idea that he is some kind of authority on anything?

He's a COGGER. They ALL think they are some kind of authority on something. Most of them just wait for the day they are ordained so they can tell the whole world that their version is the only correct version.

It's all part of the "I'm special and you're not special" thing they were taught from day one because they are separated from the dirty, uncalled, sinning, carnal world. Of course, in my honest opinion, they don't realize they are in so many ways just as or more dirty then the world they condemn just by their condemnation alone and so much more.

  5. The electric power plant operator has to work, so you can drink coffee. Drinking coffee, breathing, eating, walking all burn calories. i.e. "work" The only way to not work on the Sabbath would for you to be at room temperature.

  6. It wouldn't be a Church of God, without a seething-pot of hot coffee.

  7. Good luck on starting your car or truck to go to church! It's called an internal combustion engine because you are kindling a fire to create an explosion of fuel!

  8. If Revelation Jesus is going to fry great parts of the earth, would not most of the Oceans be boiled up and would the heat not disipate before the first Sabbath after the attack???? Now what!???

Is it wrong for Jesus to heat rivers, lakes, streams and oceans on the Sabbath?

It is conceivable that some of the wicked could get baked on an acutal Sabbath, so again..is this wrong for Revelation Jesus to do??? Help me Obi Wan Kenobi.

Does Tribulation Jesus get a day off during the actual attack? Will the Lake of Fire be ignited for baking and frying humans on a Sabbath? Can we get everyone into the pot in six days and get some rest by the seventh???

If this happens on Trumpets, a Holy Day, or at sundown on the Last Great Day and the next day is a Sabbath, is there a postponement of Lake Baking?

  9. I don't actually know much about these things, but isn't all this Pharisee junk about how to keep the Sabbath with various do's and don'ts kind of an Olde Covenant thing, replete with explicit 10 Commandments, so simple a caveman could understand them? Isn't the whole thing about controlling a society where people didn't have the Holy Spirit?

See, I just don't get this. I thought that Jesus explained all this in Matthew 5, 6 and 7 (especially the part of false prophets, but that's a different story): The New Covenant goes way beyond the 10 Commandments in ways people without the Holy Spirit could not understand -- the "carnal mind" and all that.

It just seems like Herbert Armstrong and the rest of his cult never got beyond the 10 Commandments to make it to the ethics standards of social contract like what Jesus brought. "You heard it said..." blind eyes, broken teeth, beatings, execution -- all supplanted by a higher law (good thing, too, since false prophets were supposed to be done in -- but here they are, leading Churches of God).

It would seem that without all these rules, laws, judgments of the Olde Covenant, these cult of Herbert Armstrong leaders (and members) would be completely lost. They have to rely on tithing, selling your daughter and leaving disabled children in shopping malls because, darn it all, they aren't converted and don't understand one thing about Christianity.

Well, like I say: I don't much understand these things.

Maybe someone could enlighten me -- I do understand a bit about science and how technology works, so that would be a starting point for anyone trying to explain it to me -- because I see nothing scientific or logical in the stance of these Armstrongists.

  10. The Sabbath was just a stupid law to start with and doesn't have one thing to do with Jesus. What it does have to do with is the fact that other religions besides Judaism had their sacred holy days too.

It's the same with human and animal blood sacrifices to appease their gods too. The Jews did it because every other religion was doing it.

An omni-everything "God" would not have his chosen nation to copy the religions of other nations with holy days, blood sacrifices, human slave trading/breeding and other vile activities. Instead, this "perfect" God would know better...he would also know that ordering genocide is not the way to peace for his chosen people.

    The best money could buy.

HWA wasn't stupid enough to follow Old Testament law like we were.

  13. I wonder some times about the kindling of a fire in your dwelling or not. The first iteration of it in scripture is in Exodus, where they were not to go out of their tents and not kindle a fire on the Sabbath. I would imagine that no fire was a good idea in a tent where you were not supposed to leave. But applying it across the centuries does not seem totally clear in scripture at all.

  14. HWA had fully cooked HOT meals on Friday nights and for all three meals on Saturday. He had cooks that cooked it for him. Malm will now call HWA a sabbath breaker. He also watched tv on Saturdays. Does Malm allow that?

  15. He also had HOT sex with his daughter on Saturdays. I guess that was how Herbvert "rewarded" her for good behavior. When she was bad, he spanked her. Or maybe it was the other way around. Anyway, I'm just waiting for some sick false prophet to justify sexually abusing your children because that supposed "apostle" did it. They're busy building monuments to every other sin he ever committed. If Malm doesn't decided to allow this too, I'm sure eventually someone else will.

  16. Absolutely no fire on the Sabbath, no sex, no newspaper, no television, no trade (can't take public transport to go to Sabbath services), no eating in restaurant, no radio, nothing. All you have to do is keep your home dark and black, read the Bible during the day part, don't open ref because there is light in the ref or better just switch off all electricity in the house. If you take a bath, make sure there is no hot water because heating kindles fire. There is nothing you can do. Time stops. Just be stupid and wait for the sunset. By the way, if you remove your vowel, make sure the water doesn't run on electric pump. You can't fetch a pail of water either because that is work. Just be stupid and wait for the Sabbath to end. The problem with WCG and its remnant churches and church leaders is that they are guilty of the very thing they accuse Protestant churches - selective reading of the Bible, according to what is convenient to them. Just for the unclean meats alone, it is very clear that it should not touch even the cooking vessels and the utensils. So, for these COG righteous people to really keep the Bible as they claim to be, they should not eat anything at all because even the clean meats in the market are contaminated with unclean meats through the knives used by the butchers. What is more exciting to see is how they proudly face Christ on His return and tell Him they keep His Laws only to be told they haven't an iota kept anything. Instead of relying on Christ for salvation, they rely on selectively keeping the Law which is impractical to keep in toto. Remember, if you are amiss in a single one, you are guilty of it all. I wonder how the men keep the law whenever they have seminal emissions.

MY COMMENT: I guess the clapper is ok, but we'll have to ask apostle Malm. What about the crapper? Wouldn't it be work to wipe our asses?

MY COMMENT: Another question. If the Israelites couldn't go out of their tents on Saturday, does that mean that they just had to hold it until the sun went down? Or was it ok to TRAVEl outside of the camp to take a dump?

  19. I never understood all that uncleanness and having to stay outside the camp for some ritual period of time. Women would have had to have spent a minimum of 1/4 of their time defiled and unclean outside the camp. Newlyweds would have lived outside the camp for the first 18 months, I guess, because they would be defiled with his semen every night. So add to that camp all the couples who had sex in the last 24 hours. It would have been a permanent secondary camp containing 1/4 to 1/2 of the population of the "official" camp at any given time. It's almost as unbelievable as the story of the exodus! Almost.

  20. If you can't take public transport to go to Sabbath services without sinning because this is trade, and the prohibition on the Sabbath is on trade and not on work (you can feed your chickens and feed and milk your cows, remember, how can you go to Sabbath services taking the family car without igniting the fuel to make the motor run? That's fire, and we are not to spark any fire on the Sabbath. I guess all these WCG remnant churches and their ministers and self-appointed sex starved apostles are evidently sinning despite their claims of Sabbath keeping. No wonder, their god is very angry at them because of their continuing Sabbath breaking. Woe, woe, woe! Hypocrites! What a bunch of hypocrites!
