Bob Thiel, the non-ordained self-appointed false prophet of the Continuing Ed Church of God declares that Saudi Arabia changed it's calendar so that sabbath keepers can keep the law. Say what???????? As if Saudi Arabia gives a rats ass about keeping changing its days so Jews and COG members can have the day off. Bob then goes on to say this was prophesied in the Bible and is another sure sign of the end times.
In an interesting move, Saudi Arabia decided to change the weekend starting today:
In a surprising announcement on Sunday, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah issued a royal decree shifting the nation’s weekend from Thursday and Friday to Friday and Saturday beginning this Friday, June 28.This is an interesting move for many reasons, including the fact that it would make it easier for any Sabbath-keepers who may be working in Saudi Arabia to keep it. In the days of the old Worldwide Church of God, I knew several members who were contract workers in Saudi Arabia (Muslims themselves attend mosque on Fridays, which is why that is part of the normal weekend in Islamic dominated nations).
As the Guardianreports, the world’s top oil exporter is switching its national weekend to align calendars with the other five members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Saudi Arabia was the only member with a Thursday and Friday weekend after Oman transitioned to the regional week schedule last month…Afghanistan and Yemen are the only two countries left with a Thursday-to-Friday weekend. http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/06/25/saudi-arabia-redefines-the-weekend/#ixzz2XQHncWSc.
But the other reason to mention this is that there is a biblical prophecy that another king will “intend to change times.” Notice:
4 The ten horns are ten kingsThe above king is the final King of the North (Daniel 11:40).
Who shall arise from this kingdom.
And another shall rise after them;
He shall be different from the first ones,
And shall subdue three kings.
25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
For a time and times and half a time. (Daniel 7:24-25)
Curious.
ReplyDeleteSaudi Arabia does not allow Bibles.
Which causes one to wonder at the ad in The Journal where one of the cult leaders claims he's starting churches in Saudi Arabia (maybe Bibles can be disguised as the Koran).
Good luck.
We'll see you on the news during your execution!
(And say, some of these religious folks take their jihad seriously, which means they could bring it to you -- remembering Salman Rushdie: you might not want to end up on their hit list, especially if they get The Journal.)
I don't doubt that this could benefit some of the very few sabbatarian Christians who live in a Muslim nation. However, it was clearly done in the name of international trade. This change is not going to stop the persecution and martyrdom of the people openly living as Christians in Islamic nations.
ReplyDeleteThiel has an amazing ability to grasp at and find Armstrongish straws in the presence of irrelevance.

From Thiel to theTrumpet.com, these guys are basically posting their personal Bible studies and opinions online, and expect to be highly paid for doing so.
ReplyDeleteI remember a COG deacon being so concerned about where I would be keeping the Sabbath, while I was scheduled to be out of town, that he said, "Well, you have to keep the Sabbath somewhere!" (as in a local congregation).
These days, I keep the Sabbath at home, or wherever, happily minding my own business.
Hey, Anonymous 8:50, one of my old AC buddies who still keeps the sabbath shared with me that when he is on the road, if he can't find an ACOG splinter with a welcoming or open door policy, he searches the phone directory for a local Seventh Day Adventist congregation, and attends with them. Home works well, too.

That same passage in Daniel was used to mean the Roman Catholic Church and a United States of Europe in Armstrongism, Jehovah's Witless-ism, Christadelphianism and a host of other isms and cults. Bob Thiel doesn't get to change the meaning without backing out of the former meaning that his own group already believe about it.
