Bob Thiel Disgusted Over "Son of God" Movie Poster and Edits It So His Delicate Followers Will Not Be Offended

Poor Bob. There is no other person on this planet that understands God as he does.  Bob knows his god's mind and knows that his god would be sorely offended at a movie poster, so much so that he had to edit it so that his followers would likewise not be offended.  As we all know COG people get offended at EVERYTHING!

Prophet Thiel writes:

The above movie is to be released 2/28/2014 in the USA.  From what I have seen related to its promotion, I do not believe this film truly portrays Jesus and His ministry.  Yes, it may give some quotes and portray some events correctly, but it does not portray Him correctly (He did not look like how the actor portrays Him, which is why I cut that part of the promotional poster out), and I doubt it will properly portray His message.

This is how he edited the poster:

Bob then lists the things that he says the movie will not portray about the Jesus Christ he claims to know

But I do not believe it will properly answer questions such as:
Who was Jesus? Why did He come to earth? What message did He bring? Did Jesus teach and keep the Ten Commandments? Why is the kingdom of God mystery? Why did Jesus speak in parables? Is there evidence outside the Bible that He existed? What did Josephus, Tactitus, and Suetonius write? How will Jesus return? Could the Beast be a ‘false christ’?
Bobs list above proves to everyone that he does not know the man himself!

  2. As the world moves on and doesn't even notice Bob Thiel... A true monument to HWA but small, very small...unheard of, even.

  3. In the television miniseries, the depiction of the Apostle Paul was interesting.

    And now the movie.

    Just in time for Lent.

  4. Q:Who was Jesus?
A: According to the bible, a bastard child of a girl named Mary.
Q:Why did He come to earth?
A:To bring a sword and turn family members against each other.
Q:What message did He bring? A:Hate your family or you cannot be his disciple.
Q:Did Jesus teach and keep the Ten Commandments?
A: Some of them, but not all of them.
Q:Why is the kingdom of God mystery?
    A: Mysteries make great stories.
Q:Why did Jesus speak in parables? A: So people could hear his words but not understand their meaning and receive their predestined punishment.
Q: Is there evidence outside the Bible that He existed?
    A: No, nothing reliable anyway.
Q: What did Josephus, Tactitus, and Suetonius write?
A: Make google your friend and find out.
    Q: How will Jesus return?
A: He won't. Those prophesies failed miserably.
Q:Could the Beast be a ‘false christ’?
A: Could the Christ be a false Beast? Anything is possible where religious interpretation is involved.

  5. And the last of his questions should be...HOW MANY FALSE PROPHETS WOULD ARISE BESIDES BOB THIEL???

  6. Hahaha. "I'll just trim the poster, nobody will be the wiser."

What a complete moron this guy is. I'd rather ask my dog what she thinks about religion.

    Unbelievable.

  7. Does Thiel have any idea of how stupid this makes him look?

I well remember when the Passion of the Christ came out. He talked about how distressed he was that people were putting a face on Jesus. He contemplated watching it but in the end chose not to.

I can recall once how Meredith said in a sermon that he most preferred Ben Hur's portrayal of Jesus. He is shown only from behind and he never speaks.

It is tragic to see a man so totally swallow Meredith's nonsense that he debases himself in this way by censoring a perfectly respectful movie poster.

How dare that man try to recruit others into embracing the delusional brew that is Armstrongism.

  8. The idiots cited Roman fashion to "prove" that Jesus had short hair like Caesar. They didn't bother to check out the Galilean hairstyles for men during the same era!

And, Thiel apparently believes you will or won't get into the kingdom based on what hairstyle you believe Jesus wore. What a dork!

  9. "Does Thiel have any idea of how stupid this makes him look?"

I am sure he doesn't. However stupid it might make him appear, the truth might be even worse...so, even this might be be a form of flattery...

  12. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Hasids got it right, and Jesus actually had long, curly sideburns and side hair? That would drive these nincompoops totally wild! Dave Pack would probably go on a ballistic rant!

  13. I am sooo mad at all those liberals who would try to change who we all KNOW what Jesus was!

Thankfully, God has given us Fox News to counter those who see Jesus 'n' Santa as black men, claim the USA wasn't founded as an officially Christian country, and want to pry the guns from the cold dead hands of NASCAR fans.

I was soooo totally rejoicing when Megyn Kelly on Fox News ranted about Santa and Jesus, saying, "Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable, it doesn't mean it has to change. JESUS WAS A WHITE MAN, TOO!"

When I saw that, chills came over me, and I KNEW the Holy Spirit was with Megyn Kelly, and that Jesus was indeed a badass white man with long hair, and a lot like Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty or even Larry "Larry the Cable Guy" Whitney, who are both busy teaching America true Christian values.

  14. Some of you people need to grow up. Theil is basing his view on the Bible, and according to that he is basically right.

  15. BLASPHEMY! PURE BLASPHEMY! ...

We all know that Jesus had a crewcut, wore a dark suit, with a white shirt and a red tie, along with polished black wing tipped shoes.

Stop pushing this secular, hippie Jesus.

  16. Aww, is somebody picking on poor Booby Thiel? What "bible" is he getting his stuff from? It sure isn't apostolic Christianity or from being a follower of Jesus.

  18. And the really good news is that the actor playing Jesus wasn't struck by lightening three times during production.

Of course, not being struck by lightening may limit his future involvement with Person of Interest.

  19. You know, for years I heard that COG hook about "they preach a gospel about Christ while we preach the gospel OF Christ".

Years later, I went through and lined up ONLY the words of Jesus from the Gospels on a single sheet of paper - and I saw next to nothing from his reputed mouth that was even close to what the WCG I knew was fixated on.

    Did Bob Theil write that?

  21. It's amazing how few people can critique their opponents in a mature, logical, and fair-minded manner. The human race is clearly doomed.

  22. "Thiel is basing his view on the Bible.."

No. Actually, he is basing his views on Herbert W. Armstrong's take on the Bible. For those interested in truth, these need to be restudied, because they were not what they were advertised as being. Problem is, nobody in the ACOGs has any interest in reinvestigating.

  24. BB,

You wrote: "...For those interested in truth, these need to be restudied, because they were not what they were advertised as being. Problem is, nobody in the ACOGs has any interest in reinvestigating..."

BB, didn't James Malm tell us that the United ASS. is reinvestigating HWA's "take" on lots of his views?

    John

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey John.

I don't know whether he did or did not, but I have extreme difficulty in finding James Malm as a credible source for much of anything at all. All of his ACOG splinter gossip needs to be reconfirmed by more reliable sources.

However, now that you mention it, you might say that James himself does this. Problem is, his reevaluation takes it the other way, actually "proving" that HWA didn't go legalistic enough.

  26. All who were in a COG should know where to find the chapter on hair length. It was one of those we were supposed to memorize. Even if you can't remember where it was (though I'm sure almost anyone here could cite it off by heart) you know it's there! So admit it: Theil is right. Stop pretending otherwise. This blog is losing credibility (once again). And, no, I am not BT, and I think you know that too.

  27. Jesus was a Jew. What Kelly probably does not understand is that Jews are often not considered whites because Jewish policies consistently weaken the position and unity of all other whites.

  28. A non-person-a-mus, how long is long? What standard applies? Does WWII aftermath (1945-1963) set the standard for all eternity? Absalom long so that it gets caught in trees (or machinery in our modern era)? Does effeminacy factor into the rightness or wrongness? And what is this whole Nazerite thing about? If long hair were a TLOF offense, why would it be OK to have it as part of a very special relationship with God? If Nazerites had long hair as part of their set apart relationship with God, how can we absolutely rule it out for Jesus?

Christians often do things, and carry burdens that shame them before man. If all you can say about longer hair is that it's a shame, that can't be used to imply a commandment, or to extrapolate into an accurate description of Jesus. I know! "Butttttt, God's Apostle said.............."

No way can you say with 100% accuracy that Thiel is right. Personally, I favor shorter hair myself, because I'm an oiler, but imposing my own preferences and tastes on Jesus could end up causing some problems when I eventually meet him and find that he is different from my preconceptions.

  29. Hey, Anon 11:32, I remember that chapter:

Numbers 6:5 - "All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no rasor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow."

I'd almost forgotten men are supposed to have long hair. Thanks for the reminder.

Or do you not like the practice of citing verses out of context?

    ReplyDelete
  30. The bible says don't make a likeness of God (i.e. Christ).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hair length. The whole impact of Jesus on world history and all you care about is hair length. Really? Paul never met Jesus during his ministry. How did he know one way or the other what his hair looked like when he wrote his silly diatribe? Do we have contemporary portraits of Jesus from 20 AD to know just how long his hair might have been (or if he was prematurely balding, or had crossed eyes, a hooked nose, club feet, moles or a cleft palate)? No. If it all turns on the question of hair length, you people have seriously missed the mark and are yet again making mountains out of molehills. Maybe if you actually bothered with the things Jesus said instead of what he looked like...

Also says rape victims should marry their rapists.

    You support that too?

  33. Oh hey, and I just remembered. How about Paul's "I desire that the men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands". You lifting your hands properly? How about "Greet each other with a holy kiss"? You do that too? Better get right with God... I mean Paul!

  36. Yes, according to the Bible we know that-

    1) A man should have long hair, and

    2) A man should NOT have long hair.

    LOL!
