Living Church of God Going To Learn About Creationism From "So-Called Christians"

Another fun day with the Living Church of God!  They are off to see the Creation Museum in Kentucky!  I am soooooooooooooooo jealous!

They will get to learn about dragons and how they were actually dinosaurs that were still alive in human times.

They will get to learn about "Lucy"  "...the poster girl of human evolution..." and learn the true biblical source behind her.  They will also get to look inside "Lucy's" body.  Woo!

They will get to see an exhibit about "biblical authority."  Since the COG says no one outside the church knows about proper biblical authority, will the LCGer's actually learn something new or will they be told to take it all with a grain of salt?

They will learn the truth about Adam and sin.  Will LCG correct them that it should involve the Two Tree's and leave a sermon tape laying around?

They will get to see where the Ark is being built as well as soon coming attractions like The Tower of Babel, a first century walled village and other cool stuff.

This is all just so fabulous that I almost could become an LCG member!

Cincinnati “Creation Weekend” Planned!
The Ohio congregations are planning a “Creation Weekend” in Cincinnati over Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26. The event will include special Bible Studies, workshops, and activities related to creation, science, and the Bible, as well as a group trip to the world famous, Bible-based Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky. We are planning fellowship and educational activities that will be fun for all ages, from pre-teens and teens to adults and “seasoned citizens”! In an age when biblical teachings concerning man’s origins and the creation of the earth and the universe are mocked and ridiculed, we believe that it is all the more important to fortify ourselves and our children with the truth, and this weekend will be dedicated to doing just that.

I can picture it now.  After they all go through the museum they will all get together and make fun of the dumb Christians and brag about how they have the REAL understanding of the mystery of creation.

Oh, did I just mock them?

  1. They should wait awhile.

Ken Ham is building Noah's ark in the hills of Kentucky.

I wonder if it will feature 2 of each kind with 7 of a kind with the clean animals.

Animitronic Noah and family had better be realistic.

    We want pictures.

  2. They've picked a museum to visit which represents a minority of Christian thought. Automatically, it's going to make the LCG members think that their approach is superior. Probably, their guides will even insinuate that the museum is typical of mainstream Christianity, so it becomes an exercise in reverse apologetics.

ACOGs don't do ecumenism, either. They don't do outreach, or debate for the purpose of correcting the misconceptions which they feel that other Christians hold, as did Mrs. Runcorn with Loma Armstrong. Usually, they simply mock the perspectives of others, and assume that they'll finally learn in the second resurrection.

    Typical! Predictable!

  3. In other words, they still don't know what the hell they are doing.

  4. I guess we know which way LCG came down on the Nye-Ham debate...

Here's what a Jew has to say about it...

"Was the earth created in seven days? No. For those of you who believe it was, for you Christians, let me tell you that you do not understand the Jewish people. We Jews understand that it did not take place in seven days, and that’s because we know what we’re good at; and what we’re really good at is bullshit. This is a wonderful story that was told to the people in the desert in order to distract them from the fact that they did not have air conditioning. I would LOVE to have the FAITH to believe that it took place in seven days, but—I have thoughts. And that can really fuck up the faith thing. Just ask any Catholic priest.
    ...
There are people who believe that dinosaurs and men lived together, that they roamed the earth at the same time. There are museums that children go to in which they build dioramas to show them this ... They are crazy. They are stone cold fuck nuts. I can’t be kind about this, because these people are watching The Flintstones as if it were a documentary.

  5. UCG did the exact same thing, bringing an ABC class to Ham's museum. They did exactly as described: took the tour, left the museum and talked about all the things that were wrong, but not from a scientific perspective, but as viewed through the lens of UCG possessing the "real Biblical truth" and understanding of Genesis.

All these cults are the same, despite certain people's attempts to differentiate and defend various aspects of one or another.

  6. Back about 30 years ago, when I was investigating the perspectives of Edward Cayce (nothing there, either) the closest we got to the dinosaur thing was a mention in one of the books that a carved dinosaur bone was found in a cave somewhere by archaeologists. The inference was that the dinosaur bone was not yet petrified at the time when some species of mankind developed well enough to possess carving impliments had originally found the bone.

Even such a discovery as that, which I was unable to confirm through other sources would not prove that the dinosaurs were contemporaries of modern man. Knowledge that wooly mammoths have been discovered in sub-Arctic climes, and the knowledge of the past volcanic and ice age extremes could have made carcases or bones in various states of preservation or decomp appear and disappear are never entertained by the people who choose to believe the universe is only 6,000 years old.

While in the cult, we all prided ourselves in the belief that gap theory creation held all the answers, yet had our own pattern of illogic as well in the belief that intelligent spirit beings would hurl physical objects at one another. If a being had willed it all into existence, that being would be able to will it protected. If the being had created it by evolutionary forces, then physical catastrophe might be a logical method of destruction. HWA's explanation was that God had deputized Lucifer to do the creating of the world of the dinosaurs, and when Lucifer morphed into Satan, God destroyed his creation. This is a theory which involves huge leaps cobbling together eclectic Bible passages. Not the least of its flaws is that it makes a then angel the creator, and not God. The "destroyed" creatures were all carbon-based beings with dna, just as is modern man. Re-creation puts God into the position of using Satan's research and data as the basis for the new world. Knowing how WCG believed about any minor remnants of paganism in today's culture, how could they believe that God would use Satan's old building blocks for a fresh creation and "God saw that It was good." Inconsistent to say the least.

  7. Creationists choose to believe this nonsense because they are in denial about the facts of evolution. They think, correctly, that evolution spells the end of creationism.

People who have jumped on the creation by evolution bandwagon are only grasping at straws to keep the bible from being a false history and total nonsense, which it is.

The whole New Testament depends on Genesis 1-3 being literally true and we know it's not. It ruins the whole atonement theory of the NT because if there isn't a literal Adam from whom all people are descended then there can't be a second and last Adam.

It takes some people a little longer to figure that out than others but sooner or later most people will figure that out...that is, if they use their heads for something other than a hat rack.

  8. As the UCG did, my guess is that the LCG members who visit the Creation Museum will filter it through what HWA taught, and conclude that what's taught there is not too far off the mark- and closer to the truth than what most of "the world" believes- and so they'll pray that the Creation Museum people will come to "The Truth" that LCG teaches.
