James Malm's Faithful To Soon Head To Place of Safety

Where church services will be held in Petra
(according to Armstrongism)

Petra, here they come! What will they find when they get there?  Thousands of other COGers bickering, fighting and whining that others are there besides them. Talk about a living hell!

I agree with the idea of keeping the new moon and we’ve been observing it for a while now, watching for the first light and counting the first day of the months and adjusting our Holy Days (last year was the first year) based on these days. However I cannot figure out why it is based on Jerusalem’s new moon observation- rather than a local one.

You are doing well to get into the practice of looking for the new moon. Very soon now the faithful will be moving to the area of the Middle East; Jesus Christ has chosen Jerusalem as Holy to Him and has told us to look to Jerusalem as his seat of authority; there are many scriptures on that point. We are getting into the practice of looking to Jerusalem, looking to Christ’s seat, as he is now almost ready to establish his millennial kingdom with his seat at Jerusalem. James

At least they will all have some comfort there since they still can feed their alcohol consumption at the Cave Bar.

  2. Better title:

"James Malm's Faithful Too Soon Head To Place of Safety"

It's amazing how one letter can change things.

  3. I went to Malm's blog today for a few minutes, although why, I'm not sure...

And he had posted up the UCG COE minutes in their entirety I assume, because, why(?) I guess to show how "bad" (in some unspecified way) his competitors are—as though he wasn't the same—but he has no clue just how much the same he is...

Anyway, one of his annotations reads:
"They are admitting that the UCG elders do not know the whole Bible! and that is the truth, in UCG, COGWA and most of the other COG Groups all they know is what was programmed into them at school and most have never studied through the Bible as I have been doing for the past two years for the brethren."

What a self-righteous prick. As if in preparing sermons and bible studies, UCG elders aren't doing more or less what James Malm is doing (minus the hobbyhorse pet doctrines). As if the "training" they received at AC (weak tea though it may be) wasn't at least better than Malm's thoughtless rambling "commentary." Where is the cultural context? Where is the knowledge of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic? Where is the archaeological background? Where is the theological background? You can't get much mileage out of merely doing nearsighted intensive readings of the bible in total isolation. What a conceit to think his ridiculous midrash offers something special, something that other untrained people with a background in Armstrongism and a laptop could not also come up with on their own. What does James Malm bring to the table that a cheap hotel room with a Gideon's in the nightstand doesn't?

And that's assuming the bible is what they think it is. Given the charge from David Ben Gurion to Jewish archaeologists to "go find our birthright," and given every incentive and opportunity to do so, they came back and said, in essence, "we couldn't find it because it isn't there to be found."

And standing back and examining this book of older and newer Jewish mysticisms, and how there's over a billion orthodox christians who, in addition, take books like Judith, Tobit, etc., and in the Coptic church, even 1 Enoch (which is a pretty far out there book) to be "deuterocanonical" (legitimate inspired writings). Thing is, Jude 1:14-15 quotes 1 Enoch 2:1, and calls it legitimate, both in it's authorship and it's value as prophecy! I don't know how it's possible to include Jude in the canon and not also accept 1 Enoch.

So here's me, realizing how, until recently, I've been a mystic and didn't even know it. All religious people are, to the degree they take their religion seriously. But those who start churning out their own midrash on mystical volumes (regardless of how bad the quality), now those guys are the serious mystics.

  4. I hope they have a nice little vacation there, with radicals all around them and no US constitution to protect them. I've heard that the Flavor Aid tastes mighty good this time of year.

  5. I went in search of paradise
They said it would be good for my head
So I went in search of paradise

    Paris - London
    Glamour and despair
Ruins - We were ruined over there
Ruins - We ruined over there-er-er.

And when you think you're in paradise
But then you find your arms are tied
Caprive in the name of paradise
The chains are all her lies

    Paris - London
    Glamour and despair
Ruins - We were ruined over there
Ruins - We ruined over there-er-er.

The picture on the screen is moving still
    It's moving all the time
If only you could freeze frame a moment there
You could have paradise all the time

    Paris - London
    Glamour and despair
Ruins - We were ruined over there
Ruins - We ruined over there-er-er.

I don't think anyone ever found paradise
'Cos paradise is based on lies
