Michael North, a former WCG member from Pasadena and a prolific gospel singer, recently worked with Peaches and Herb for a concert they did in the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. Michael is also the worship leader at the 10,000 member Shepard of the Hills church in Porter Ranch, CA. He is also involved with Shushybye a program geared towards 2-5 year olds and has been featured on KCET (PBS).
What most will find interesting about this video is his tour of the old college campus.

The new housing that is being built, and is shown in the video blends in quite nicely with the campus. They did an excellent job on designing them, and frankly, the buildings look better than the ones they replaced.
ReplyDeleteThe new housing units are architecturally great. Over priced though. The remodel of SOG 360, 380 and 390 apartments was well done too.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, Peaches and Herb were known to those of us Amballador Cossage students who were rebellious enough to listen to their forbidden music on the rock n roll radio at the beginning of their career in 1966. They were a bit too mellow for my taste, as I liked harder, distorted guitar based music, like Cream and Hendrix.
ReplyDeleteWho knew that one day they would perform in Herbie's last erection, the Ambassador Auditorium?
BB
That was quite a look-see.......Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of funny that he thought one of the best things about the "old-timey" Ambassador College was the "soap dispenser technology", which was apparently at "the cutting edge of soap dispenser technology"!
Perhaps that was a Freudian slip, which could happen in most any bathroom containing soaps.
I almost didn't watch this as at first all I saw was a bunch of nonsense. I continued on as thinking I would eventually see Peaches and Herb which I have never cared for, and that didn't happen either.
ReplyDeleteIt got better though and was interesting to see all the beautiful buildings Herbert W. Armstrong built with all the money sincere and trusting people who faithfully tithed and sacrificed year after year hoping that when they died, or in the future, (whichever came first), they would inherit that glorious Kingdom of God that was continually dangled in front of them as one dangles a carrot in front of a horse or mule while following behind with a stick. The old reward/punishment thing.
Ah, yes, all those lives that were destroyed in the name of prophecy.
Wonderful, just wonderful, everything's just wonderful...luv that new housing!
I am looking forward to the day when all the old campus is demolished. This campus was the seat of government of a religion that enslaved thousands in a system of abuse.
ReplyDeleteEXPCG, I do believe the OP may have been updated and now includes the concert.
ReplyDeleteDisclaimers:
-I am not a Peaches and Herb fan.
-I am not a Herb fan.
-I am not a Maranatha fan, although it is amusing that Jesus has apparently decided to downgrade Ambassador from an idiotic college to a stupidity-based high school.
-In the Kingdom, there will be a yearly carnival (which Kingdom members will pay with their 'second clouds' to attend), in which a main event will be hauling Herb up from Hell and throwing peaches at him.
It will make a great background for the next movie in the series, "God's Not Dead", although they can't use Kevin Sorbo again.
ReplyDeleteNice to see this!
ReplyDeleteMichael North was my old dormmate, at least a couple of times (years) class of 87.
And boy could the guy sing! :-)
Apparently still can and does.
