Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

Rod Meredith Patronizes the Black LCG Members: "...they are dear to us and we appreciate their services, and their UNUSUAL abilities..." Oh, and Jesus Was NOT A Black Man So Stop Saying He Was!

Rod Meredith sent out a letter to the ministers today and wants them to STOP their African American members to stop believing that Jesus was a black man.  That's after he patronizes his black members by telling them  they are a dear to him  and he appreciates them and their UNUSUAL abilities."

Recently we have had a number of people here at Headquarters and elsewhere bring up the issue of Black Israel, and the idea that Jesus was a black man. As you know, we in no way want to put down our black brethren – they are dear to us and we appreciate their service, and their unusual ability in many areas. On the other hand we do NOT want to condone ideas that misconstrue the Bible and deceive God's people into believing ideas that would bring us into reproach before world, and most of all before God Himself. If any of you have any questions about this let us know, we do have the answers.

So is the idea of Charlotte HQ employees talking about Jesus being black getting on Rod's nerves and he has to lay a power trip on them all now?  But don't worry folks! Rod appreciates your service and your unusual abilities...like winning races at the church picnics or playing great basketball, or cooking super fantastic food.   Really, Meredith said this?  60 some years in the cult and he still has not learned to keep his mouth shut and lets race still remain an issue.  That British Israelism mantra sure does create a sticky-wicket!

Does God really give a rats ass if a follower believes Jesus is black or pictures him as their own nationality?

  1. Paraphrasing this not too subtle message so as to expose the double standard behind it:

"Here's the deal, sheepies: We're allowed to manipulate and falsify peoples races and colors to support our church history, conspiracy theories and false prophecies, but don't believe for a New York minute that you can apply this principle of Mr. Armstrong's to Jesus! "

Actually, I don't believe Jesus' ethnicity was ever even in question during my membership of WCG. Though he happened to be physically Jewish as a human, for the purpose of being personal savior, He was raceless.

  2. A picture of a black Jesus is not any more ridiculous than most pictures of Jesus. Jesus was Jew. Pictures at many churches make him look more northern European.

  3. Jesus was supposedly Jewish.

But the man who carried his cross near the end seems to have been black.

Is Meredith saying that the blacks have no status, but have to carry the burdens of the LCG?

Not that black people in the LCG have any less status than the Proles supporting the Inner Circle -- they're all slave peasants feeding the Golden Gloves King and the Peerage their narcissism royal jelly.

YOU LCG MEMBERS ARE ALL NOTHING! NOTHING, I (RODERICK MEREDITH) SAY!

  4. Many members of LCG can be properly classified as "BLACK AND BLUE"!

  5. This is the RasTafarianist's "British Israelism." They teach that Jesus was black, and not only that, but also that black people are the real Jews, and that people everyone thinks are the Jews are imposters who have "stolen" the black race's identity, birthright, etc. Crazy, I know, but there it is. Basically, pick the craziest thing to say you can think of, and say it like it's true, and there are people out there crazy enough to believe you. Besides hanging up a shingle, that's all HWA ever did.

  6. I am glad you posted this. I am an elder in LCG and was appalled by the tone of Mr. Meredith's letter. Its like he considers African American members to commodities to be used for their "unique" talents. You so nailed it!

So Mr. Elder, can you answer this: would a true Christian who is led by the Holy Spirit write such a letter? If not, how can you justify placing yourself under such a person's authority, and why would you want to be a member of a Church whose leader exhibits such fruits? What must you compromise to justify your continued affiliation with LCG?

  8. Assistant Coffee Maker: Not so fast, Dude. Play nicely. When an elder breaks his splinter's protocol, pops in for a visit and actually posts something complimentary here, that can't be bad!!!

To the elder: Welcome! Feel free to hang out with us for a while.

  9. I know for a fact Jesus was a fierce Mongolian war lord and demand to see him represented as such.

My mother thought he might be Aborigine after attending a Feast site there.

  10. I am an elder and am not appalled by the tone of the letter at all.
Frankly it is time people stopped making up shit on the internet.

  11. Well elder#2 @2:20. I'm on a closed Facebook page that is filled with hundreds of exCOG members including a LOT of exLCG members. Those that have read Meredith's letter are appalled by it as everyone else is. Perhaps you are the one that needs to stop making up shit when you defend this racist bullshit!

  12. Elder 2:20. Here is a quote from the man your guru cult leader trained at the feet if. This is the same racist nonsense that Rod believes.

This is an example of Herbert Armstrong's racism (from p. 148 in the original Mystery of the Ages):

"There was rampant and universal interracial marriage -- so exceedingly universal that Noah, only, was unblemished or perfect in his generations -- his ancestry. He was of the original white strain...

"... It is evident that Adam and Eve were created white. God's chosen nation Israel was white. Jesus was white."

  13. Roderick Meredith is NOT racist.

He simply knows whites are superior!

  14. You people are sick and will twist anything to make any COG look as bad as possible.

  15. The scientific data states that some races consistently score higher in IQ than others. The mainstream media denies it, and judging by all the hate on here, so do most of you, but the facts are the facts.

  16. Know why there are no real pictures, drawings, portraits of Jesus? The answer is really simple: It's because nobody EVER saw him - ever. There's a good reason for that too but most folks don't want to believe it.

Just like any "God", he is the same color as you, he spoke the same language as you and he hates all the same people you do. That's because every "God" is you.

  17. EVERY single one of you people who were in a COG know it doesn't really go the way the COG haters on here are portraying it, and I am an ex-member. Shame on you. You should have stayed in one of the cults; you can't handle freedom.

  18. I am an elder in LCG...

    Right, and I'm Julius Ceasar.

  19. That nonsense about interracial marriage being a cause for the Great Flood is also used by hard core white racists in order to demonize African Americans and to claim that whites are racially superior. It is disgusting racist nonsense that HWA must have picked up from the prevailing culture of his time and shamefully he continued to preach such hateful drivel till the day he died.

  20. Anon @8:15. None of here need to denigrate the churches of god, you all already do a great job of mocking god with all the lies your leaders preach.

  21. 5:01~

Herbert was great at eisegesis when it suited his purposes, wasn't he? He made the flood into a racial thing, ignoring that there was obviously some miscegenation involved in preserving the races immediately following the flood. Somehow, he never got around to teaching people that Manasseh's and Ephraim's Mommie was Egyptian. He certainly did not tell us about the Egyptians who were Nubian, or speculate on possible implications of that in the equation, or dwell on the skin pigmentation of Moses' wife. But he (they) surely didn't miss any opportunities to remind us that Nimrod was black!

While mainstream theologians recognize that the Israelites and Judah were sent into captivity because they worshipped other "gods" than Yahweh, we've recently seen that at least in Flurryland, they make the captivity about the sabbath. Therefore, when Ezra and Nehemiah later fear that intermarriage to wives who worship other gods will lead to another captivity, and command that those marriages be broken up, once again, this flawed theology makes it instead a racial thing.

In blogdom, one of the sad circumstances I've noticed is that even after leaving Armstrongism, certain people cling to and actually get worse in their racism. Others hang on to the concept of the conspiracy theory, only rejecting Armstrong's theories in favor of some new even more bizarre ones they find. Still others will retain proof texting as a method of building their wall of new beliefs. And, while they share and express these things, they are apparently oblivious to the inherent abnormalities or dare we even say sicknesses involved in them. These are but a few examples of the lasting damage false teachers who claim to teach their followers how to think are capable of.

In Christian circles, racism and these other unsound patterns are thought of as being "bad fruits". In humanism, they are viewed as irrational, or ignorant, the perpetuation of bad cycles, non-critical thinking.
Wouldn't it be nice if more of the elders in the splinter groups stood on principle, manned up, and worked to end destructive, toxic cycles?

  22. COG Elder, COG schmelder.
    LOL!

Strange, how anyone would try and put the brakes on anyone not "welcoming him" here, after deciding that their very own COG parents are not worth communicating with.
    Go figure!

  23. Racial is not racist. Get a dictionary.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Christianity" (so-called) and humanism can deny the reality of racial differences because they are not sciences, and they are usually not honest. Heck, even most scientists won't go near the topic because they are too politically correct.

  25. Anon on August 14, 2014 at 8:47 PM,

Why the bug up your ass? Perhaps the problem is that even though you are an ex-member, you're not yet "ex" enough to understand what a total load of crap it was.

It's not unusual to find "ex" cultists still acting as defenders of those cults. Truly leaving is normally a protracted process.

  26. This conversation is just more evidence that multi-racialism kill truth and replaces it with posturing, political correctness, lies, and ignorance.

You don't list which "racial differences" you refer to, but I'll go out on a limb (but not very far) and guess that you're talking about IQ.

The fact is, there is great variation in IQ within all races and much overlap among the races. To attempt to define a person's IQ based on race, as racists do (but I'm sure you're not one of those, right?), is folly. There are many blacks who are smarter than most whites.

I'll go out on a limb again (but not too far) and guess that there are many blacks who are smarter than you.

  30. The truly intelligent person is going to adapt, adjust and learn to survive or thrive in response to changing environments, such as multiculturalism. It doesn't do anything for your lifestyle whatsoever to sit around and complain about minorities, or to give your opinion about the way things are "supposed" to be. All that does is to make you look ignorant, marginalize you, and make you unemployable, as well as a negative person that it is not fun to be around. So, in your illusions, you appear to be the winner, but in so doing, you come out as a failure and a loser.

  31. I don't know why I would knock myself out trying to make a racist understand, but here goes. What you are presenting here is totally useless "information" if the black man who has just been brought in as your new manager has a 153 IQ and a Masters degree from Wharton. It would be similarly useless "information" for your son if his award-winning calculus teacher happens to be an African American woman.

I am certain that Retired Professor would be in a much better position to comment on testing than I, but standardized IQ tests in times past, have been directly related to the majority. Experiments in the 1970s were made, in which alternative IQ tests were constructed based on the urban black and Chicano experience. Guess what. The white kids were the underperformers, while the minority kids scored highly.

Stereotyping is both unfair and inaccurate. Each person is a unique individual. You can't assume that someone named LaMont Washington is either going to become a custodian, or receive social promotions for which he is clearly unqualified all throughout his life, any more than you could assume that Martin Katz III will graduate from Cal Tech and enjoy a stellar career at Jet Propulsion Laboratories. We now have a plethora of anecdotal evidence demonstrating that in an atmosphere of fair and equal opportunity, brilliance is color-blind. Smart people encourage this. The jealous underachievers try to hold others back, and in so doing, actually hold themselves back. And that, my friend, is something you are going to feel every time you go to the bank.

  32. Saying interracial marriage caused the Great Flood is hard core racism. Even today PCG continues to teach this horrible teaching.

"In Genesis 6, the conditions at the time of Noah are explained. Three specific conditions are mentioned: 1) Marrying according to their own choice, rather than subscribing to [PCG's] God’s laws in the choice of a mate; 2) Extreme corruption; and 3) Extreme violence." (Ron Fraser, South Africa in Prophecy, 1997, p. 21.)

Note how Fraser dares to list interracial marriage first, as though interracial marriage is worse then extreme corruption and extreme violence.

"Such anti-God themes are a precursor to CONFUSION, division and strife! South Africa will reap the curses of correction imposed by an all-wise, all-loving Father who created mankind and set the racial bounds over which He commanded Israel not to cross!" (Ron Fraser, South Africa in Prophecy, 1997, p. 23.)

Similar racist teachings may also be found in Flurry and Leap's booklet, Ezra and Nehemiah: Building God's Temple.

What disgusting racist drivel! It is terrible that such disgusting racist teachings continue to be indoctrinated to PCG members.

  34. We had a minister back in the 90's who taught that Christ was black because Jews were really blacks from Africa.
He taught that the side locks worn by "Jews" were really Dredlocks.
The upshot of it all was that he was saying that Jews of today are liars and upsurpers and not Israel at all.
Israel, he said, was a black African nation. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob were all black men with African traditions and beliefs.
