Gerald Flurry was lecturing to his 73 students at the most important college ever built in the world recently. It was the opening session for his new class year of Herbert W Armstrong "college". For some reason Flurry now seems to think he is an authority William Shakespeare. If it wasn't for Shakespeare the world would not know about Imperialism and British Israelism..........say what?
Gerald Flurry cannot talk aboutDuring Mr. Flurry’s orientation lecture on Monday, he encouraged students to continue watching world events, and to think deeply about them. He focused on William Shakespeare as an example of one of history’s deepest thinkers.
Shakespeare was a perfectionist, Mr. Flurry said, and he lived in the era when the British Empire was beginning to rise. Mr. Flurry said he believed God influenced Shakespeare to enhance the education and vocabulary of the British people, emphasizing that students can learn a lot from this poet who was heavily influenced by the Bible.“We are not confined to Oklahoma,” Mr. Flurry said. “God has commissioned us to go to the whole world. ‘Our island is too small.’ This is about the whole world, the whole universe, and the whole Family of God.”
The Chancellor On the Bard
After his orientation lecture on poet William Shakespeare, Herbert W. Armstrong College chancellor Gerald Flurry shared more of his thoughts:
On how he hoped the students would be impacted by the lecture:
“What I was hoping for the students to take from it is: You’ve got the greatest scholar who ever lived, and he really was an empire-builder. I think God influenced his development so it would give the British people every opportunity to deliver the message about David’s throne. It’s not just about education. It’s about building an empire. If you want to be in that business, you need a great education in vocabulary and communication.”
On Shakespeare’s impact:
“Everyone knows Shakespeare. We can tie it in to when Britain was a superpower. If you were talking about the Bible and empire, it wouldn’t mean nearly as much to the British people. They can relate to Shakespeare.”
On America and Britain:
“The two chief nations in the World Tomorrow will be Britain and America. What’s coming isn’t bad news when you think about that.”
On imperialism:
“The students need to think, We’re here to be imperialist. How do we do that? We need to get educated. That’s critical.”
On the importance of education:
“I was hoping this would make them realize how important this education is. If they want to fulfill their goals and ambitions, they have to be serious about education.”
Once again American exceptionalism is trumpeted as the cure all for the worlds problems. It is only through the US and Britian that godly knowledge flows forth (from Edmond Oklahoma and a future UK campus) All rulers in the world tomorrow will be PCG members from these two countries.
Apparently Six-Pack didn't get any of the memos that imperialism, along with racism and sexism, just aren't cool anymore?
ReplyDeleteThis is the chancellor's address to make it clear what a useless, out-of-date, out-of-touch, and just plain BAD education they offer. It doesn't matter how much education you've had if it's all bad education.
Millenialism is one of the most toxic doctrines of Christianity. There isn't going to be a "world tomorrow." The top nation in the future is going to be China. Britain and the US are in decline. Jesus isn't Superman, fighting for, among other things, a conspicuously American way of life. Heck, he isn't even real, so he isn't going to come and save the day.
Flurry seems really determined to build up his PCG empire in Britain. Recently The Key of David has starting broadcasting on CBS Reality into Britain. That started September 7 at 8:00 am.
ReplyDeleteThis Biblically illiterate jack-ass spends more time talking and writing about historical "worldly" men...than quoted anything out of the scriptures.
ReplyDeleteThe membership of PCG has to be about brain dead. How can anyone not see through this mixed-up organization and corrupt leadership.
If it is Flurry and his cohorts ruling and dominating this so-called World Tomrrow, or even HWA and his gang, I don't want to have a part of it and would prefer to the thrown to the Lake of Fire. Period!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: What's going to happen to the Jews in Israel during the Millennium?
ReplyDeleteI guarantee you that some, if not all, of the students sitting and listening to Flurry ramble about Shakespeare and the US&B found themselves wondering, "What the hell?"
ReplyDeleteToo many of us did that at Ambassador. But somehow we thought, oh well, where else can we go to college, blah, blah, blah. It made absolutely no sense to stay, but we felt comfortable in the system, liked our friends, enjoyed the campus, etc.
No matter. What these kids need to do is listen to that small voice in their heads, follow it, and get out. The man has no qualifications to open a college, run a college or even teach at a college. He makes it up as he goes, and has done so since he launched his own gig 25 years ago.
Flurry's yammering about God influencing Shakespeare's development to build the British empire, and saying that PCGers are to be imperialist, is nonsense beyond belief. Do people actually sit there and listen to him and think his ill-informed ramblings are coming from God?
Wake up, kiddos. You could be doing something constructive with your lives. Think. Get out.
Back in the day, there were black and partially black members in the headquarters area who would openly ask, "How can you send me "back" to a country that I've never even visited, and don't know anything about? All of my roots, my knowledge, and my culture are based on my life in the USA." Most of us thought a Gerald Waterhouse marathon sermon was annoying, but it must have been particularly vexing and hurtful for our African-American brothers and sisters.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, the ministers would usually rank the Germans right below the Jews and Israelites (all misnamedor mislabeled, of course). They'd cite the brilliant scientists that cold world countries fought over. Like Rod Meredith, the Germans would get to be third in command for all of eternity.

"And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."
ReplyDeleteIf you read this passage carefully it is clear that though the children of Israel number as the sands of the sea, literally only a remnant (144,000) shall be saved.
Somehow I don't think Shakespeare would like to be known as a teaching instrument of Captain Six Pack and his band of sociopathic soul crushers.
ReplyDeleteFlurry and others who share this literal, physical British Israel nonsense would be hard pressed to find 144,000 people with undiluted "tribes of Israel" dna. By the time the first pilgrims reached America, the Angles, Saxons, Picts, Celts, and Normans were so jumbled up and intertwined by the British melting pot that it was impossible to determine who was what, in terms of purity just from those groups, let alone distinguishing Manassites from Ephraimites.
ReplyDeleteThe ACOGs give a type of lip service to this confusion when they make up their own reasons for dna not actually proving kinship between the US and BC and the Jews. It's laughable to hear them say, "But, they're comparing the dna to that of Ashkenazic Jews, and the Ashkenazic Jews are not the real Jews!"
Hey, Flurry! Did you know that the British royal family is German? They changed their name to Windsor back around WW I, a war with the Germans, so that your typical British citizens wouldn't think of their King as being the enemy! Read up on King George V.

“Shakespeare was a perfectionist, Mr. Flurry said, and he lived in the era when the British Empire was beginning to rise.”…. “Everyone knows Shakespeare. We can tie it in to when Britain was a superpower.”
ReplyDeleteSo Gerald is rewriting history now!
Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died in 1616. This was in reality a time when Britain’s ‘empire’ was at its lowest ebb.
In 1558 Queen Mary had lost the last British enclave in France, leaving Britain as just that, an island country, consisting of England, Wales and parts of Ireland. Scotland was an independent country at that time too. (And may be again in a weeks time – but that’s another story!)
During Shakespeare’s life there were a couple of attempts to start colonies in Virginia, USA, but even that didn’t really start to take off until well after his death.
Apart from that, there was no empire. Very little happened in the fifty years after Shakespeare died, and it was only then that things slowly started to build over the following 200 or so years.
Shakespeare had zero to do with creating an ‘empire’
Gerald Flurry fairly often plays loose with the facts.
ReplyDeleteFor instance he and his collaborators often say that Germany started the Yugoslav Wars by recognizing Slovenia and Croatia as independent states in December 1991.
This is not true. No matter which side you happen to be sympathetic towards, this accusation is not true.
If you look up other non-PCG accounts of the Yugoslav Wars you will discover that the fighting began in June 1991, six months earlier. In fact Belgrade withdrew their armed forces from Slovenia in October 1991 so Slovenia was already independent long before December 1991.
Also the war in Croatia was in full swing by December 1991. November witnessed the seizure of Vukovar by Belgrade forces after a cataclysmic three months siege (August 25 - November 18, 1991) which killed about 3000 people. And somehow PCG would have us believe the war only started in December 1991. Somehow this cataclysmic battle did not exist.
How can Germany be blamed for these events? The ninth commandment they claim to love so much says, Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. But Flurry and his collaborators bear false witness against the Germans by falsely accusing them of starting the Yugoslav Wars.
Do they not fear God? Of course not. They follow their paymaster Gerald Flurry and do what he says.
As Assistant Deacon has said, what Flurry presented is soooo nonsensical even the largely short-circuited, already brainwashed minds of his students must see something wrong or, at least, somehow weird in all this.
ReplyDeleteI can't help thinking there's a PARENT out there, also wondering what's going in, who'd been working to the idea that Shakespeare was something to be avoided, because MACBETH had witches in it, HAMLET had ghosts in it, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM had fairies in it, Romeo and Juliet married without proper courtship and counseling, etc., etc.
