  3. Thanks, Gary, and a hearty and enthusiastic "Backatcha!"

In the world of COGdom, for some unknown reason, this is the one time of the year when ACOG members seem to feel most compelled to defy their leaders to visit Banned and similar sites to defend their beliefs.

This, of course, briefly opens a window thorough which we have an opportunity to offer reality check. They seem to indulge in more than just "drive by" posts during the Christmas season, wanting to actually read our responses, and indulge in further debate. So, we get to put more on the figurative table, out in the open.

My wish would be that some of our visitors keep the window open through the rest of the year. Second opinions have always been verboten in Armstrongism, with the exception of the carefully picked, chosen, and approved second opinions which appear to support the Armstrongism. We learn from the field of science that only truth which survives rigorous and endless testing is regarded as being truth. In other words, as data is collected, more input and opinions are desirable and valuable, not fewer.

Actually, regardless as to what each of us as individuals may believe about the Christmas season, the fact remains that British Israelism is one of the items which has failed to survive the scientific testing process, an epic fact which explains the continued failure of the Armstrong prophecy mold. Knowing this, how can you ACOG folks not correct your evangelistic efforts to reflect it? Why would you continue to allow your tithes to support the dissemination of proven falsehoods? I would be quick to add that this is a completely different issue from holy days, the sabbath, and clean and unclean foods. There are people who are observant of those things who do not preach false and failed prophesy.

Ultimately, perhaps the Christmas season has acted as a sort of truth serum. For every action in one direction, there is an equal and opposite reaction. While attempting to expose and debunk Christmas, some have opened the window to further exposure and debunking of the Armstrong problem. We appreciate that. In the immortal words of Jed Clampett, "Kick yer shoes off! Set a spell. Y'all come back now. Ya hear?"

  4. Just never forget that the Christmas lie is a lot bigger than the Armstrong lie.
