Elijah Passover Dave: The original Elijah slew with the sword. Could it be that I will be able to slay with MY MIRACULOUS WORDS?

Narcissism to the extreme:

120: Elijah executed a hundred and two pursuers with fire and slew four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal with his sword after using fire to light the offering. Could there be a modern parallel of at least using God's Word as a sword? I don't I kill four hundred and fifty people with fire, but you understand the point, Christ comes with a sword in his hand, the false Christ with a bow; the sword is the Word of God, we understand that, and I'm going to have to deal with these men.

  3. Somewhere, ensconced in the nether regions of the ether, perhaps 'ol Hog Jowls is flicking the accumulated ash from the end of one of Fidel's finest, and proclaiming, "That's m'boy!"

Seriously? This stuff would be beyond the realm of believability if it were part of a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode! At this point, it actually defies discussion.

It will break down at exactly the same point that the Haggai stuff broke down about two years ago. Breakdown point will be when Dave has to stand and deliver.

  4. Dave Now Says He's The Last Prophet Before The Second Coming of Jesus Who Is Going To Have Start Working Miracles! What's Next? Will He Be The Long Awaited Messiah Too?

    THEN:

"If I get off into strange and unusual ideas or go weird on the church and make the Bible start meaning things it never meant or see myself spoken of by the prophets,
will you call me on it? Because you know that when that happens I won't want you to remember I said this. I'll say this does not apply. No, no, no, no...this is different. Will you call me on it?
    "

Notice Dave said "when" and NOT "if." Even then he knew it was just a matter of time. Some people remember, Dave. So we're calling you on it, just like you asked us to.

    NOW:

"I do not come as some kind of academical Elijah; I make some nice assertions and it just sort of rests, which was one of the problems with Mr. Armstrong. He didn't look like Elijah, but he sort of did some restorative things, but didn't do powerful miracles – didn't need to. I'm gonna need to."

Yep, you would definitely need to. This would probably be the first true thing I've heard you say in 2015.

Why didn't HWA need to do miracles? Maybe because he was narcissistic enough to call himself THE one and only apostle of Jesus Christ since the 1st century AD, but not quite narcissistic enough to call himself a prophet (so that way he could prophesy falsely and still claim not to be a false prophet.)

Not so with Dave. Dave has prophesied falsely already, twice in recent memory. Before he didn't explicitly claim to be a prophet before. But now he does. Now that he's removed his "technical safety valve," he's put himself into a genuine bind. He's already prophesied falsely AND now he says he IS a prophet! (And not just any ol' minor generic-label off-brand prophet either.)

"Malachi...was the only prophet to mention a coming end time Elijah [*ahem* me] with that end time man [*ahem* me] apparently being the world's last prophet other than, of course, Christ. The Kingdom of God will supplant all need for apostles and prophets because it will be every member of God's family who carries out the role of teachers – kings, and priests and teachers – as described in Isaiah chapter 30 verses 20-21. So the last Old Testament prophet introduces the last prophet ever sent to the world beside Christ [*ahem* me]"

    ...

"The prophet Malachi's name means My Messenger. Obviously this man is also a type of Elijah [*ahem* me], that's easy to see. Just think of chapter 3:1 in Malachi's book, "I will send my messenger," which introduces and foretells both coming Elijahs, John and the final one, me. Of course, it is chapter 4 and verse 5 that tells you that messenger is Elijah [*ahem* me]. The subject of Malachi's book formed the very foundation of the final Elijah's [*ahem* me] message to God's people, and do this much more than they do to John's message"

    Continued...

  5. ...Continued

"No wonder these men are talking together with Christ in the transfiguration. They work together in a unique way at the end of the age. Christ is an apostle and a prophet, that's what it says; there he's called a prophet, you know in another place he's called an apostle [where?]. Both of these two men – these final two apostles, unique in all history – are both also apostles and prophets. See the parallel?"

    ...

"So that Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Pack [*ahem* me], if you will, come side by side...How is Elijah not also a type of that prophet? But this is just another way of saying both men are types of Christ."

    ...

"And recall that I said some weeks ago that the ancient prophet Zechariah carries out a type of my duty in this regard. This point grows in meaning because the prophet Zechariah's now seen to be a type of the final Elijah [*ahem* me]. I knew he was sort of typing what I was to do; well now I understand my role and therefore the greater sense of what he types [*ahem* me]."

Meanwhile, back on planet earth, until we see those miracles he says he's gonna need to do, ALL of this remains pie-in-the-sky narcissistic speculation.

"Otherwise I'm just a guy with an assertion who's got some interesting self-directed, self-focused theology."

And this would probably be the second true thing...

"I told you at the Feast that I thought God was going to begin to pour out more power in his Church. Would you say that's happening?"

    Nope.

"I haven't been tired for a hundred and nine days – I was just calculating it – my voice should be giving out, but it's not."

Introducing a guy with an assertion who's got some interesting self-directed, self-focused theology. I hope this isn't the sort of "miracle" he thinks is going to cut it. Do I have to explain why qualia such as this leaves him squarely in "academic" territory?

"Elijah came with enormous power; he could call fire down, he could resurrect the dead, he could dry the heavens, he could multiply food for years out of a small amount, and take care of her son – resurrected her son when he died – sobering point."
    ...

"Elijah executed a hundred and two pursuers with fire and slew four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal with his sword after using fire to light the offering. Could there be a modern parallel of at least using God's Word as a sword? I don't I kill four hundred and fifty people with fire, but you understand the point, Christ comes with a sword in his hand, the false Christ with a bow; the sword is the Word of God, we understand that, and I'm going to have to deal with these men."

Yep. So. Anytime now. Anytime Dave wants to STFU and start putting his proverbial money where his non-proverbial mouth is, we're waiting. Shouldn't be too hard for someone as astounding as Dave says he is, right?

Until then, Dave is not even an "academic" kind of "Elijah." He's just a delusional idiot who warned us it was only a matter of time until he started spewing this kind of verbal diarrhea. Thanks for the warning!

  10. It seems from what he said years ago about going bonkers and what he says now is that he WANTS to chase off the membership. What does he have to gain? The property. Sell it off and do what little Joey did. Easy living.

  11. And the next stop after that is a padded room?

Somebody said a while back, how much further can this be pushed? How much longer can this go on? This simply isn't sustainable. Situations like this never end well. Sometimes they end tragically. Anybody with an ounce of sense in their head is slowly, quietly, backing away. He's a ticking time bomb.

Who can sit there and listen to this garbage and not be at least a little concerned? Although I will never exactly be "surprised" by the level of stupidity that old-school Armstrongites are willing to accept, at this point, even I would suspect that 80% at least of the "faithful" would be feeling out potential alternatives and trying to figure out how to make a graceful exit.

  12. It's not Davey's fault.

The fault lies squarely on the unethical people who follow him.

  13. Jesus' words spoken and in print ARE the sword of the Word/God.

    Not Dave's Pack of lunacy.

  14. In all seriousness, RCG members should take the time to watch the Jim Jones documentary on Netflix. I think we could be witnessing the same thing here.
