Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

COG Member Says Lets Cheer Isis and GCI's Taking Down of the Illegal Videos so that the SWINE Cannot View It!

To show you how warped the thinking is of the diehard legalists, here are two comments that were sent to me tonight from an HWA idolatry site.

Herbert Armstrong's teachings are so precious that they should not be made available to the "swine" that will read it or watch it online.  Some in COG land are clapping for GCI's decision:

All I can say is that many of these materials that are on line should not be for public use. Mr.Armstrong never made his sermons or Bible Studies available to the general public and for good reason. I think only the material that was made for public use should be made available to the public and that which was for the church made private for those who truly want the truth so we don't cast our pearls before swine.

Then another person replied with this idiocy:

While we are cheering on the taking down of these videos lets cheer on ISIS for destroying all the pagan statues at the archeological sites as well…….

  1. Can these people really be this stupid?

  2. Someone should videotape Rod Meredith bashing African Americans so that LCG staff can't edit it out of sermons for distribution, send a video to you tube and copy in the NAACP.

    I approve.

All I can say is, before the 1930's there was a "famine" of the Armstrongist "word" for 13.82 billion years. Nobody thought anything of it then. Not that most humans ever heard of HWA, even in his heyday. By any significant metric, we should think even during the peak of HWA's ministry, word conditions still fell into the category of "famine."

This so-called "famine of the word" seems to me to be the normal mean condition of the universe, and the sooner we get back to "normal," the better off humanity in general will be.

As for the destruction of historical sites, monuments, and artifacts, shame on anyone who would senselessly deface and destroy them. And I do mean "senselessly," any and all foolish rationale to the contrary notwithstanding. And I do mean "foolish"!

  5. "Yay, ISIS is destroying those pagan idols!

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go to church down at the Masonic temple."

  7. ISIS is destroying those pagan idols! And so you, the cog members, should destroy your pictures of HWA. He taught the feast days. Those days were taken from the pagan Canaanites.

  8. yeah they are replacing one form of idolatry with another....that's progress alright ;-)

  9. They should be cheering the taking down of the old materials so that new, more contemporary ones could be put up.

What is the date range of the videos which are being contested? Are they pre-GTA, or post GTA, during the time when HWA had to come out of broadcast retirement, and was noticeably past his prime?

Even in the 1970s sermons in Pasadena and at the Feast, HWA would babble on, giving the same sermon about the two trees, obviously having difficulty seeing the big type in his KJV, and often forgetting words and names, and falling back on a series of "uh"s.

One thing about HWA. Opinions of him were never neutral, they were I-0. Some saw him as a real flamer, and others practically regarded him as the second coming.

  10. Be honest. The second comment was sarcastic and said by the owner of the forum who disapproved of the first comment.
Therefore he was comparing the taking down of HWA videos to ISIS destroying pagan sites.
The first commenter was making a distinction to the preaching WW did to the world and the sermons that were to the congregations which the church then felt were the 'strong meat' mentioned in the NT.

  11. Whoever decided to sympathize with Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi's lackeys (ISIL) has very strange and worrisome ideas. That is terrible thing to say. It is wrong to minimize the terrible things Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi's lackeys have done in this matter.

  12. Incidentally teaching one thing to non-members while trying to recruit then and teaching other things that are only told to committed members is one of the signs of being a cult.

  13. I rather watch Arnold Ziffel watch TV rather than watch HWA bloviate.

"Incidentally teaching one thing to non-members while trying to recruit then and teaching other things that are only told to committed members is one of the signs of being a cult."

Not co-incidentally, this is exactly what UCG is doing with their KOG seminars. It's a little underhanded, if not creepy, that they pack the building with shills, so that the dozen or so legitimate attendees who were foolish enough not to have something better lined up to do that evening wouldn't realize that there were only a dozen or so legitimate attendees who were foolish enough not to have something better lined up to do that evening.

Now they're hiding their hiding their gospel under a web bushel basket, so as to not lead by putting their less-than-best "heretical theology" foot forward.

Nooooooo. UCG isn't a cult. They just have to hire consultants to show them how to best misrepresent themselves so as to successfully entice people to step into their venus christian trap. That's all.

  15. According to the CIA agent hired by the US to find Bin Laden, the USA and Israel are the CAUSE of terror. Grow a brain and find out WHY he would say that!

  16. Sounds like a sarcastic riposte to me.

  17. If anybody has bothered to look at HWA's telecasts, you will find that much of what he spoke about there, was also preached in sermon's during church. So the liar's at Grace International are at it again. Just as they were during the 90's. Seems they do not believe in "Freedom of Speech", they get their high priced lawyers to persecute the little person who should have the freedom to post on the internet what ever he/she wishes. It would seem that we no longer have freedom of speech, I guess then comes along next is the "famine of the word". I feel that GCI will be used to persecute the people who seek the truth along with the Catholic Church. These organizations along with the Government will stamp all freedom of press, and we will be either Fascists or Communist.

  18. Freedom of speech? The government isnt making that Youtuber take down the videos. Youtube is due to a claim of copyright infringement. That no more involves the First Amendment than it does if you called your boss a jackass at work and got fired for insubordination.
