UCG Fashion Sense: "Lazy Modern Slob"

 From a reader here:
In the local UCG congregation the preferred style seemed to be women in pants with men's haircuts. Not too sexy. Much more ungodly than the way UCG women dressed was the way many of them thought, talked, and behaved. The complete lack of decency of some ignorant, rude, crude, noisy, gossipy, slanderous old slobwomen in the UCG made their lack of fashion sense seem downright unimportant by comparison.

Putting lipstick on one of those pigs would not have helped. There was also a noticeable tendency for the men's fashion in the UCG to be “lazy modern slob” with one real weirdo even claiming to be unable to wear a necktie because it bothered his neck too much. One would try to be understanding and sympathetic toward his predicament except that the demon-influenced moron always went out of his way to be a pain in the neck to other people.

  1. Um who gives a crap if the women are "sexy". You're at church. Am I missing something here? I get that people (not just women) get sloppy but if you're at church to keep the Sabbath, why does it matter what others are wearing? Wondering where this critique came from. Also wondering if anyone can tell me where in the Bible any of these churches pulled "You should be dressed in your best when at services"? If I wore my best I would be in evening gowns. If one were to do that I'd be blasted for being too vain. Just sayin'.

  2. I'm thinking they should go "The Mad Men" look. That would be definite improvement but I know that is only a wish.

  3. Slow news week?

That rude "comment from a reader" was beneath even your low level of "journalistic standards."

I would recommend that if you want to set yourself up as judge over the COG community that you raise your standards for your content.

  4. Well Anon 5:42 I guess it is more important to grouse about the observations of one who I assume is a UCG member over the slovenly dress of members than it is to weigh in on the problem of UCG being unable to keep new members. Dwell on the trivial matters and ignore the mammoth in the room.

  5. well, when appearing before the King one should wear their best, whether it's overalls & white shirt, or a 3 piece suit....the nicest dress they own.

but Connie brings up a good point....I don't think it's a stretch to assume that the very first worship services were nude, the best they had was what God had created...and it doesn't get better than that.

Publishing unsubstantiated rude comments as though they somehow have relevance and value is what I am talking about. That kind of meanness doesn't add anything productive to the conversation. The original commentor should be ashamed of herself or himself and the Admin of this blog should have higher standards. If you want to attack UCG for policies, practices, doctrines, that might be productive, but this post was just gossip and pointless. Just a disappointing revelation of the standards here, I suppose.

You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to defend and cover up all the bad behavior in the UCG rather than trying to correct it. Regrettably, there are too many people in the UCG who share your wrong attitude, and who think that all manner of evil behavior is okay, but that to tell the truth about it is somehow “rude.”

The original comment pointed out correctly and bluntly the sort of behavior that the UCG is full of, but did not even come anywhere close to telling the whole story about just how bad the situation really is in the UCG. The original comment was obviously not merely intended as an insult but as a statement of fact. The PLAIN TRUTH about what many people in the UCG are really like and how they really behave is ugly. The UCG should be ashamed of itself for being full of such bad behavior by such bad people. The UCG should have higher standards. The Banned Blog Administrator can be proud of himself for publishing the PLAIN TRUTH about the UCG so it can see itself as it really is, and maybe even repent, though nobody should ever hold their breath waiting for that to happen.

There is a REASON why the UCG has done nothing but split and splinter, and it is not because it is full of good people. It is because it is full of unrepentant, unconverted, unbelievers and perverts who do nothing but evil continually. Then, other wicked people come along to defend all the bad behavior and say it is “rude” to honestly report the PLAIN TRUTH about what actually goes on there. They are not even properly ashamed of the loathsome conduct of the unrepentant, unconverted, unbelieving perverts in their midst. They just try to pretend that it is “rude” to tell the PLAIN TRUTH about it, but okay for perverts to be immoral and lie and slander continually without ceasing and without excuse, as if that is not rude.

There is a REASON why the UCG will go into the Great Tribulation, if it does not totally disappear back into the world first, and it is not because it is full of good people. It is because the UCG is full of unrepentant, unconverted, unbelieving perverts. Even worse, the UCG is full of wicked people who want to defend and cover up all the bad behavior rather than correct it.

There is a REASON why things happen. Usually, it is because the UCG sucks.

What post did you read? Not the one we are commenting on obviously. I read a post calling a man "demon influenced" because he doesn't want to wear a tie, and referred to the women as "pigs" and "slob women". Since we don't have any way of knowing where this took place or who the poster is talking about we have no way of knowing whether it is even true. But, apparently, since it is negative against UCG, it must all be true.

This ranting screed is only matched by your defense of the post and your over the top, obviously inaccurate portrayal of UCG. I'm sorry you have been so enjured by someone in UCG. I did not defend UCG in my comments, before and certainly did not try to cover up all the bad behavior. I will, however now make a statement in UCG's defence - the people I know in UCG are normal people trying to live their lives according to their understanding of what God expects of them. They are trying to be overcomers of the sins and faults that they recogbize in themselves. They are relying on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to cover their sins and the holy spirit to work in their lives to help them become what their heavenly Father wants them to become.

I don't know anybody in UCG who would get on a public forum and refer to fellow Christians as morons and pigs.

I stand by my comments and suggest that if you expect this site to be taken seriously as anything except a gossip-fest and a site full of lies and rants of the mentally-unstable that all of us demand higher quality than this post and some of these comments.

Also note well that nothing was ever said against any “fellow Christians” anywhere on earth, just against some godless UCG impostors and their fellow phonies.

  10. Ok. Can we all graduate from 7th grade and talk about issues that matter? As an attendee (or former attendee, I guess, since we were never really accepted), I generally find these conversations enlightening. Not this one.

  11. Au contraire. This thread is a snapshot of how COG folks have generally regarded one another, or not, over the years.

    Carry on, ye Christians, ye.

No, you cannot automatically move up to the next grade level. Your low marks in reading comprehension will not be “curved” upward just because some others are also suffering from the same sort of defective thinking. How can you expect to move up to a higher level when you show no understanding at all of even the most elementary matters? In fact, the way you write meaningless nonsense and try to pass it off as somehow spiritually superior indicates that you need to repeat a few grades.

The issue of wicked people in the UCG is a very serious one that certainly does matter. It will not go away. Unless it is properly addressed, the UCG will continue to split and splinter and might even totally disappear. Anyone who does not know what is going on in the UCG and does not realise the seriousness of it is probably not really interested in enlightenment at all.

Read on from the 3:16 you mentioned to where Jesus said, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed” (John 3:19-20, NIV).

It is a sad reflection of just how bad things really are in all the so-called COGs today that people have to come to a Blog like this one to learn the truth about what is going on.
