Only the BEST in the COG Went To Ambassador College/University

Nothing illustrates the "set apart" mentality better than this sweat shirt design.
Buy yours now and feel superior to the lowly uneducated sheeple in our church area.
That Ambassador education will allow you to be a leader in Petra and rule your own planet.

  1. at one time i considered trying to enroll at ac until i became apparent that i was not special enough...

today it has become apparent that ac neglected to effectively instill the real world life skills needed to function in a secular society...

    it is sad...

  2. This theory has been tested so many times, and in so many ways, and shown to be nothing but hype. There were the Eddie Haskell type ministers' kids, and people who graduated with honors, got sent into the field and later led insurrections, students and graduates who somewhere down the line realized that repressing SSAD did not make them "normal", authoritarian tormentors of the brethren, people who actually committed crimes for which they went to jail, pedophiles, alcoholics, cross-dressers, and even murderers. I did in fact work every day at AC Press with someone who years after graduating from AC murdered his wife. These are the sorts of things that don't make it into the Envoy, or the college catalogue.

The thing is, there were students that tried to make the hype into reality, just because that's what HWA said it was, but even amongst those, over the years, there has been a steady attrition rate. I suspect that even at some points it was difficult to find enough butts to fill the seats. It's all but a snapshot in time at this point.

  3. Instantly proclaiming yourself as having enrolled in a program to produce narcissists -- the absolute scum of the earth, no where near human.

We shouldn't ignore the borderline nor those with histrionic personality order, who were staples of the Ambassador experience.

  4. I can attest to the fact that wonderful Ambassador education was totally worthless to me when I suddenly needed to find work in the world at large when I was forty years old. I still keep it in my safe, but it isn't good for anything, really. If I hadn't happened into carpet cleaning and then installation, I don't know what kind of job I could have ever landed that would have adequately supported me. I certainly needed no degree for what I ended up doing for nearly forty years.

    1. like i said: its sad; glad you were able to find a trade to support yourself.

what amazes me is how blind people were and caught up in the religious fervor, never having thought for a moment that we would have to one day make a living; ac should have at least had some additional focus on practical matters in their curriculum, like agriculture and/or mechanical engineering, or even construction management and carpentry...

the church could easily have produced a community of useful, marketable skilled professionals that could serve not only the public at large, but the church itself...

this is why i have admired the economic model of the amish and mennonites; they are religious zealots, but at least they have been wise enough to become self sufficient and take care of one another in true brotherhood; we could have learned a few things from them...

  5. I was rejected 3 times for AC because I was a crappy high school student. My mother thought I was a loser and insisted I keep applying if she would pay the application fee. Finally, I got accepted for the January term of '75, and I lasted exactly 5 days. It was not for me, I was too smart for them! ;)

  6. As I have posted before, I thank God for being an Ambassador College reject. I was crushed at the time when I received Registrar William Stenger's rejection letter. The very next Sabbath, I talked with a girl at the Washington, D.C. Worldwide Church of God where I attended with my family who was waiting to hear of her Ambassador College application status. After I told her of my rejection, she promptly informed me she want to go to Ambassador College BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THE BEST GUYS ARE!

THANKS! I needed that! She was accepted to Ambassador College, and I hope in the intervening 40 years she learned some tact.

Today, I wear my Ambassador College rejection letter like a badge of honor. I was accepted to the University of Maryland and received a B.S. in Finance and Investments; left the Worldwide Church of God never to return and then received a M.B.A. from Drake University. With these degrees, I was highly employable in private industry achieving high income levels. Through the years, I "tithed to myself" investing my tithe through the years. I have been financially independent for many years now. I thank God for being an Ambassador College reject because I would NEVER have achieved what I did had I stayed in the WCG and attended Ambassador College - sucking the financial life out of me and paralyzing me from accomplishing anything in life because "Time is Short and Christ is returning soon".

Thank you Lord God for showing me out of the WCG at a young age back in 1976 even though it estranged me from my the rest of my family that remained in the WCG and its splinters for many years afterwards.

    Richard
