Will Dave Pack Soon Be Getting His Wish When Two COG Leaders Die?

It has been reported on several sites, including Facebook, that Gerald Flurry had to be helped to the stage desk when he spoke at the Feast this year.

Exit and Support has this letter:

October 7, 2015
Gerald Flurry is getting frail. He spoke at the Feast Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, but instead of being able to stand behind the podium and speak, he had to sit behind a desk on stage. Wayne Turgeon’s son [Grant Turgeon] had to assist him in getting about, too. --Ohio

The info posted on Facebook said that  he had to be propped up at times so he could speak.

With Flurry's rapidly declining health and Rod Meredith's recent stroke, two of the larger Church of God's will soon be rudderless at the upcoming deaths of their leaders.

Dave Pack is hoping to capitalize upon these deaths and draw their respective church memberships over to his organization.  Pack knows the deep discontent that members of both of these churches have for the sons who are being groomed to take over.  If he works this discontent to his advantage he will not need to worry about his god striking them all dead, old age will do it for him resulting in major upheavals.

For three miserable years now Pack has been boasting that his god was going to strike down three Church of God leaders and bring their entire churches over into the Restored Church of God.  For three humiliating years now, Dave's god has failed him.  No leader has been struck down.  No members have defected over to Dave's group, and the money stream he was anticipating has never materialized.

  2. When i was in RCG and David Pack gave his lectures on the three deaths, it was told in great detail on how they would die in fire...and explosion...some kind of death with them burning. It would all be on the same day in order to get the worlds attention. My response at the time was what if pack exploded into flames at this time? I havent attended in years since i was told i HAD to spend money on the Sabbath.

Since Dave Pack is such a colossal liar, the justice would be poetic indeed if his pants spontaneously exploded into flames.

  5. Another Feast of Tabernacles in the can... and no, I didn't see the TARDIS appear
in the parking lot of the Wadsworth Giant Eagle.

In other news, the world didn't end on Oct 7th as an elite group of Harold Camping followers had suggested...

  6. All the present leaders of all the COG's will eventually die and the churches they head will all eventually die also. Its only a matter of time.

  7. Too funny! A person who has a reputation as being someone with whom people are universally dissatisfied is basing his growth plan on member dissatisfaction with the fruits of nepotism in some of the other ACOGs. The only way that could be remotely possible would be if Dave got rid of himself.

    doing what?

I was told that i HAD to use restaurants on the Sabbath. The minister even quoted the verse where it states that we are to fix our own food, others were not. He said..what about that? The church goes to restaurants and you do to or you leave. I left.

The idea that "the Church of God" or perhaps some sabbatarian "true church" group has always kept the "torch" of "true religion" alive is wishful thinking.

And even if it were not false, HWA certainly would have nothing to do with it. COG7D is an offshoot of Miller's Adventism, but the Adventist church was not initially a sabbatarian group, nor were they called by the sacred cow name "Church of God" so as soon as you start trying to trace the lineage of WCG back, immediately the line is broken as Adventism arises from "pagan" Sunday-keepers who couldn't possibly be part of any "true church" religion according to the strictures laid out by ol' Herbie. Dugger & Dodd were also full of hooey. The idea that "the gates of hell" won't "prevail against" Armstrongism is based on a number of obviously wrong assumptions.

But heck, even trying to pin down some "true religion" can't be done.

  10. That would be the real church of God, anonymous 1:31. It is in peoples' hearts and souls and has nothing to do with Armstrongism. When Armstrongism dies, the church of God will still exist. There are probably some people in the splinters, the original WCG, and GCI who are in the church of God, but that is almost accidental, and in spite of Armstrongism or its teachers.

  11. 1:31, that would be the Church of Christ, to be precise.

    Oops.

just a few Scriptures that use the phrase Church of God...

  13. 1:31/7:44, Matt. 16:18 says specifically that Jesus would build his church, and the gates of hell would not prevail against it -- seeming to imply the church of Christ, no?

Just enjoying the semantics. The phrase "church of God" is used elsewhere, just not there. "Churches of the saints" is also used.

    Etc.

"--seeming to imply the church of Christ, no?"

I guess it depends on whether you use His original name or not. After all, I understand Christ is not a name but a Greek title meaning Messiah or Savior. In a similar way, God is not a name but a title or description.
Scripture doesn't provide a phrase such as "Church of Yeshua" which is 'Jesus' original Hebrew name.

BTW an interesting read can be found with Nehemia Gordon's book "The Hebrew Yeshua vs The Greek Jesus".

  15. we learn through Scripture that there are tares, evil doers, covetous, bigots that are planted in the Church of God; they are doing what you would expect of any infestation: wreaking havoc, causing divisions, perverting the Word;

but the Scriptures say those tares will eventually be dealt with, and it be a faithful person who endures until the end, waiting for God to render a fiery destruction and elimination of them rather than rejecting His Church and Doctrine outright...

  16. Try not to drool, 8:19, over the "fiery destruction" stuff. It's unbecoming.

good for you! I've done the same thing.
these so called ministers of God that teach their flocks to pollute the Sabbath, woe unto them.

  18. Which RCG minister said you had to go to restaurants? I was disfellowshipped in Jan 2015 and never heard hat from anyone.
