Living Church of God members are not happy that church has wasted tithe money on more property for it's pretend "University"
This in from Charlotte:
LCG just completed the purchase 2 additional pieces of property in Charlotte for use as Living University dorms. Many LCG members are already annoyed at the vast amount of tithe payer money being hemorrhaged into LU. The brethren were already grumbling about the money being spent for accreditation This will surely send many of them over the top. The majority in LCG believe "freely you have been given, freely you must give" and are in disagreement with LCG charging members to be taught from LU classes. LCG brethren in large numbers believe that the primary mission of the church is to do "the work" which is to "preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God" NOT to bolster egos within the church with their efforts to re-create AC. Just think how much "preaching the gospel" could have been funded with money (over 1 million dollars easily) that Meredith and Winnail have spent on Living University.
Doors open and doors close. God closed a door when He allowed Ambassador College to be shut down and physically torn down. Consider nature, if a leaf falls to the ground, it becomes fertilizer. There is no waste in nature, a Godly trait. Trying to rebuild what God has torn down is waste, waste, waste. The average age of church members (75) means it's just about all over. Rather, the church should be in 'closing shop' mode. It's common sense.
LCG has a mole? Ha ha ha. Most church members are gossips. Many ministers tell their wives intimate details of their 'counselling' sessions with church members. I know this from personal experience. So if ministers wives have the inside info on church matters, we know what that means. Hint, hint, Ma Kettle.
I wouldn't be surprised if the proprietor of this blog is living a dual life as a secret member of the LCG. _______________________ It just could be me....
Why does Barely Alive Univesity need dorms? Are students beating down the doors to get in? Are you sure these properties are not planned for nursing homes? Nursing beds would be more appropriate for LCG. After RCM just demanded the members sacrifice to send him their money, surely he'll give the minions what they need in their declining years. Oh yeah, nursing homes are demon hangouts, so I guess the old membership should just sign over their estates to LCG and look to the government to take care of them.
I hope this one is true! I just spoke to someone in LCG who said he heard from someone close to RCM and he said this is not true. If his story is correct about his someone close to RCM, at least the posts on Banned get to the top quickly.
It's not me, I'm to busy trolling you guys. Give this some thought: a lot of you, perhaps most of you, were baptized into the New Covenant under the Priesthood of Melchizedek and the tithing laws are under the Old Covenant under the Priesthood of Aaron. That being said, it follows that every time a tithe is paid by a New Covenant member, it's a slap in God's face. It mocks the very sacrifice of Christ and the Father. The tithing laws were instituted by God. Even though they don't apply to N.C. members, they remain in effect for those who keep the O.C. ways, such as the Jews today. Those under the N.C. are commanded to "give" in support of the spiritual blessings we receive, aka. "meat in due season". Regardless of our feelings, those two ways are commanded and when we mock either one, we are saying that God is incompetent. Pass that on to those you know in the various splinter groups, hopefully it will wake them up. I'm sure the ministry in those organizations will fight ferociously but it's easily proven that for N.C. members, tithing is illegal. More on that at itstimecog.com/tithing/
If you keep an eye on the map in the right hand column you will see Charlotte online a lot. LCG regularly monitors this site and is still furious that members and employees spill the beans on shenanigans at thier HQ. I have absolutely no reason to doubt my so sources.
"The average age of church members (75) means it's just about all over. Rather, the church should be in 'closing shop' mode. It's common sense."
I couldn't agree more. Most of the old faithful who keep everything going are on their last legs along with me. Most are retired and on limited income and the grim reaper is standing at the door and knocking. Only, I bailed forty years ago along with lots of others who saw through the whole con game. The splintered organizations that resulted and that don't continue to grow will end up just like the Shakers, a curious historical footnote. Some of the kids have stayed in, but many other disillusioned offspring have voted with their feet. There is nothing but continued decline ahead, and their laughable "gospel" isn't going to impress anyone who stops to think and to question.
...it follows that every time a tithe is paid by a New Covenant member, it's a slap in God's face. It mocks the very sacrifice of Christ and the Father. The tithing laws were instituted by God. Even though they don't apply to N.C. members, they remain in effect for those who keep the O.C. ways, such as the Jews today."
Not that I recognize either covenant, but you're dead wrong about one thing. Jews do not tithe because there is no temple and no functioning priesthood to receive those tithes.
Mr. Dexter, the laws were never done away with and as with the Jews today, those laws remain in effect, there is a Levitical priesthood albeit, still in training.
This from:free.messianicbible.com/feature/israels-priests-prepare-third-temple/ ... "garments will adorn a new generation of Levitical Priests (Kohanim) who are already in training.
Kohen (literally Priest) is a status given only to Aaron (who was a Levite) and his descendants. Levitical priests, therefore, are those Jews who mark their ancestry back to the tribe of Levi and are descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
It has been close to 95 years since Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi Kook was reported in a British publication to have established Torat Kohanim, a yeshiva (school for Orthodox rabbinic studies) designed for the training of Levites to serve in a rebuilt Temple."
This also from: www.myjewishlearning.com/article/tithing/2/ ...."Moreover the purpose of tithing, for the upkeep of the priests and Levites, has no meaning nowadays. The present practice in the State of Israel is to have only a token separation of the tithes. Some Rabbinic sources make reference to a tithe of money as well as of produce, although it is not too clear whether this was seen as a voluntary contribution rather than an obligation. Nevertheless, many observant Jews today do donate a tenth of their annual income to charity. This is known as maaser kesafim, ‘the money tithe’ or ‘wealth tax.’" I certainly agree with your analysis of Jews not paying tithe as there is no temple or functioning priesthood, however, according to Chief Rabbi Kook, there has been a priesthood in existence for 95 years and should there be a temple, would not those laws be implemented? Hence, that is why I conclude that they are in effect for those who keep the O.C..
There were a lot of hypocrites in the WCG. I thought one guy I knew was the salt of the earth. But once I started hanging around with him I found out he was a drunk right after church. And of womanizer to boot. He also used to listen to hard rock heavy metal music when he get home from church and started drinking. This nut job was a total hypocrite. Used to be so hard on others for minor offenses and yet he justified his hypocritical lifestyle. Trust no man ever in this life because they can hide behind other people and do their evil. Herbert Armstrong was nothing more then and nobody want to be nothing big shot. That bum loved money and he would have done anything to keep that money flowing into himself. When the focus becomes a man that's when you get up out of your seat and never go back. Another sign is their unwillingness to take correction. That's a big one for these egomaniacs.
Well this at least partially explains the last RCM beg-a-thon letter. The church is over-extended financially so they surely had to put large down payments on the properties.
I've heard that they are also in the market for a piece of commercial real estate for LU class rooms and offices.
Keep sending in that cash people!
Your master needs some more stuff to make him feel relevant! Maybe next it will be RCM's famed "pink Cadillac". He's Christ's representative on earth people so if he wants it, you need to give it!!!
Good for you Mr. Weaver. I hope you realize that your judgment DIDN'T put you out of the Church but rather cemented your place in it. You're on the same side of the door as Christ is. It's time to rejoice in the fact that you remained loyal and will reap that reward.
Excellent post B.B.. You got it perfectly. I might add that understanding those verses, especially in that context is a God given gift. To my knowledge, NOT one of the splinter groups understands that principal when applied spiritually as you do.
The crazy irony is that people stay in LCG because they have been brainwashed to believe that they need "God's church" to make it into the Kingdom of God but it is their attendance with LCG that is more likely to keep them from sainthood.
Whether the LCG member is "all in" and in so being denies Christ or whether they are not all in because they see the flaws but don't have the faith to walk away. Both lead to dead ends.
Hi Anon 5:39. They are in it for this reason: Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Their purpose is to save their lives, not to learn about and thereby worship God. Something they will have to deal with when they're resurrected.
While researching the claim made by Anon 3:00, I came across this most disgusting yet revealing piece of canine waste: “I am fully aware that many of our brethren - often fine brethren who mean well and who are already giving a little bit of their substance - are nevertheless sitting on hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars worth of money, property and other resources they very rarely touch to help do the Work of the living God at the very end of this age ...
“I am just asking you to do what some of us are already doing to a degree. But I, and all of us here at Headquarters, certainly need to do more...”
Followed by: Roderick Meredith’s plea for extra revenue has been prompted by LCG’s financial troubles. At the end of 2013 the church’s reserves amounted to $6.7 million, but it overspent by $2.45 million in 2014. The deficit for 2015 is expected to be much higher, primarily due to the purchase of property for classrooms and accommodation for the expansion of Living University. This from www.7th-day.info/Pages/news.aspx
This begs the question, is the one dissenter, that being Anon 3:00, correct? A little more then opinion is required for a challenge, please present your evidence Anon 3:00.
Anonymous 3 o'clock is partially correct but the thrust of the story is 100% accurate. The ink is not yet dry but Meredith is in the process of completing the purchases this week. So, technically, the statement that LCG has "completed" the purchases can be disputed. However, it would be foolish for whomever our anonymous LCG supporter is to deny that these two homes are in escrow because they are. They need to complete the purchase quickly because they want to get students in them as soon as possible.
I'm frankly a little surprised that anyone would deny it because it's only a matter of time before it's revealed by RCM himself and then the deniers will look like liars.
Living University is pleased to announce that it expects to lease two very attractive residential properties in the Charlotte area for dorm space for on-site students for the Fall semester of 2016. A generous member has offered to lease the two residences to Living University on terms that will be very favorable to the University and the students. More details will be forthcoming this Spring. The continuing generous support of God’s people for Living University is much appreciated. We are currently accepting applications from students who would like to study on-site in Charlotte for classes beginning in August 2016.
Living University is pleased to announce that it expects to lease two very attractive residential properties in the Charlotte area for dorm space for on-site students for the Fall semester of 2016.
See? LCG isn't buying two houses that would retain value and even appreciate as assets for the church. It's leasing -- committing to a long-term rental -- which means pouring more money into a sinkhole so more students can attend LU, so more professors can teach, so more resources can be consumed.
For the amount it will cost LCG to rent two decent sized houses hear HQ, and to pay the upkeep and utilities, etc., it could easily hire a minister for some congregation that right now relies on videos. Or it could pay generous Feast expenses for 20 - 30 needy widows. Or it could go on another small-town TV station.
Instead, six or eight more twenty somethings will be recruited to play church and help Meredith and Winnail feel like they're still running a "campus" instead of a dying cult.
Surely they would buy and not lease. Oh wait, making stupid financial decisions is Jim Meredith's milleau so maybe they DID decided burning cash renting was better than building equity in an asset.
Why did I say Lil Jimmy and not his racist, homophobic daddy? Well that's because Lil Jimmy now makes all the financial decisions at LCG. He won't be the face of LCG (because people would revolt) but if anyone thinks the bank account will ever have a name other than "Meredith" on it, they are delusional.
I'm so disappointed that this post was wrong. My LCG associates are beating me up with this - like they, their church, and their master are always right about everything.
Anon 7:34, you might want to tell your LCG associates that Christ is coming to "confirm" His New Testament covenant (Daniel 9:27). The very covenant they violate every time they pay tithe. Tithing was instituted for the Levitical priesthood and will continue until the White Throne judgment, BUT that is not the priesthood of the New Covenant. Anyone baptized under the New Covenant is under the auspices of the Melchizedek priesthood. In short, every time they pay tithe, they tell God that they don't recognize the Melchizedek priesthood and all things associated with it, including Christ's sacrifice. Let's be clear, the paying of tithe is commanded and is to be kept for those under the Old Covenant while the "giving" principal is to be practiced under the New Covenant. If you really want to rattle their cage, direct them to this article: itstimecog.com/true-servants-will-know/, then all you will hear is a clicking sound as their jaws slam shut.
