Living Church of God: The Church of NO!

From a  reader:

The Meredith/McNair dream team (more like a nightmare) are no different than the crazy sharia law kooks. God says not to "add to or take away from" his word but that is precisely what LCG excels at.
No private Bible studies, no Biblical discussions without a minister present, no costume parties (after all, the Pagan's used to wear masks so they could have anonymous sex), no crosses (aka penis'), no hearts (aka vaginas), no 2 piece bathing suits, no free style dancing, no spaghetti straps, tithing to non-Levites, British Israelism, and on and on and on....

Meredith is obsessed with sex like a lot of those Sharia men are too. They stone or hang homosexuals all the while they are having sex with their tea boys. LCG's views of women are similar as well. Women are to serve and satisfy the men. Men have larger brains (Meredith preached it so it must be true).

35 comments:

  1. The no private bible studies is one of the stupidest things Meredith has laid down on the members. God forbid if any of them were more intelligent and theologically versed on the topic than the ministry. There are members who know more about the Bible than the ministry does, and this includes a lot of women.

It has always been known among the members that part of the reason Meredith does not like this is because he and the ministry are embarrassed that they actually know so little.

The ministry of the church is all a charade.

    1. Correct. They don't know about the Bible. They only know about Armstrongism . That's what they preach.

    2. Isnt that an old HWA thing? I remember reading an excerpt where he complained that "meeting if your own accord without a minister" was an issue for him.

  2. The no private bible studies = only the priest can read and explain the bible to the masses. So it was before the printing press.

  3. A cross represents a penis and a heart is a vagina?
Although this sounds like COG-crazy, I have never heard this before.
I'd love to hit my LCG family and friends with this funny, pharisaical foolishness but I'm afraid it may not be traceable/provable.
Can anyone supply a link to an article or sermon in which the gospel on cross/penis & heart/vagina is made plain?

  4. I remember the day Rod Meredith preached that it was a "scientific fact" that men were smarter than women. I nearly died sitting there in my chair. I took out my iPhone and did a little search. Women actually score slightly higher on IQ tests worldwide.

    RCM is such a misogynist.

God made men and women EQUALLY. If one were "smarter" than the other, wouldn't it be an unfair advantage to making it into the kingdom? Why would God set women up with a disadvantage? He wouldn't!

  5. Well RCM has also preached that "God gave blacks extra muscles in their legs which is why they are better at sports".

So he's not just a misogynist but he's an ignorant, uninformed racist too.

And can someone show me where in the Bible it says that whites will rise in the resurrection before blacks and other non-whites?

He was preaching that hard a couple of years ago. He's mellowed on that topic a bit in the last year or so. I'm guessing because it pissed off so many people. Although, I'm not sure anyone has the nerve to tell RCM when he sounds like a total moron.

  6. People have actually left the LCG fellowship specifically over the no private Bible study rule.

I hope they ALWAYS put God and His Word ahead of idolizing a man like Meredith (or any other man).

I know so many in LCG who say they "don't follow a man" or they "don't follow Rod Meredith" but yet, when Rod Meredith tells them to do something unbiblical, they do it in blind obedience.

RCM is the golden calf to a huge majority in LCG. I pray they wake up before it's too late.

  7. Your sketch reminds me of the Lexx TV series. In the first movie, the religious leader of the world (His Divine Shadow) tells a assistant to kill another assistant, which he does. He then orders him to kill himself, which again he does. The writers didn't pull this out of thin air. In abusive religious groups, obedient to leaders is the highest value. It's like the Pharisees who put the Sabbath above human life. Christ had to point out that the purpose of a moral code, which includes the Sabbath and government, is to 'do good and save life.' Or 'the preservation of life and achievement of success,' as many express it today. Many ministers taught the Tkach changes, reasoning that preserving peoples faith in government is more important than the truth. This was simply putting government (and their pay packet) above human life. When HWA repeatedly stated that 'government is everything,' he meant it literally.

  8. In defense of RCM, he did tell his LCG members not to get too "buggy" about the crosses non-ACOG people were putting up to commemorate the victims if the LCG shooting in Milwaukee. He said they meant well and didn't know any better.

LCG preaches Christ was crucified on a stake without a cross bar at the top.

Crosses are bad in ACOG land.

One wouldn't dare wear one as jewelry.

  9. Booby Thiel is the one who had a coronary over the crosses and brought huge embarrassment to the LCG because of his idiotic comments. Rod's comments about the crosses was a direct dig at Thiel.

  10. Sites critical of Jehovah witnesses have good articles on the cross. They point out that the Romans had being using the cross for a hundred years prior to Christ. Christ was most likely crucified on a cross.

It is a wonderful thing that today everyone has access to Bibles translated into English from the original Hebrew of the Old Testament and the original Greek of the New Testament. Everyone should own their own Bibles and read them. They should also buy an exhaustive concordance or two and an atlas or two of the Bible lands. Those who want to go deeper can even get copies of the Old Testament in Hebrew and of the New Testament in Greek.

Those who do NOT like the Bible and what it actually says but who for some reason want to pretend that they are religious while getting as far away as possible from what the Bible actually says can get a “paraphrase version” like The Message.

Unfortunately, what seems to happen is that people just talk about reading and studying the Bible, but do not really do it all that well. Each individual tends to focus on his favorite verse out of which he twists his own crazy pet theory. Even worse, each different individual seems to be attracted to a different favorite verse out of which he twists his own crazy pet theory. Worst of all is that two such individuals looking at the same verse would come up with two different crazy pet theories. Three such individuals looking at the same verse would come up with three different crazy pet theories. And so on.

For some reason, such individuals always seem to want to have a so-called “private Bible Study” with some other weak-minded church members invited (but never any ministers invited or present!!!) so they can spout off their crazy pet theory that they are so sure they have carefully proven by repeating it to themselves over and over endlessly to the exclusion of all else. The so-called “private Bible study” consists of them doing all the talking and trying to convince their listeners of the truth and importance of their crazy pet theory. They do not go out and try to get their own followers from the world, but rather just go to existing church members to try to indoctrinate them with their crazy pet theory and lead them astray.

If you think that the former Worldwide Church of God ministers who were trained at Ambassador College do not know everything (they do not), have now gone a bit astray (they have), and are bad enough (they are), then just wait till you see the individual heretics in the COGs who are each led into a different crazy pet theory by a different demon playing with each of their little minds.

  12. Meredith. Sigh.

Back in the day, speaking in Pasadena, he infamously expressed shock, after Tom Bradley had been elected in LA, that a BLACK MAN was now the mayor of Los Angeles! It was apparently another sign that the world was going to hell in a hand basket.

It's embarrassing to look back now and think that we sat there, letting such idiotic things roll off of us like so much water. What a disgrace.

  13. Here are a couple of factors to remember. The State of Missouri was a pro-slavery state prior to the Civil War. However, Missouri is not considered to be a Southern state. Midwestern is the accepted descriptive. The population of a state is not monolithic. There are diverse attitudes amongst the citizenry, often regional, and possibly influenced by the proximity of the state to neighboring states. In Joplin, there would have been some strong influences from the Southern heritage, whereas the northern part of the state would be closer in harmony to the states to the north. As we know, Rod grew up in Joplin.

Another interesting fact about Joplin is that until after World War II, one of the main industries in the Joplin area was lead mining.

By the way, anyone who is interested in the evils of racism should visit Pam Dewey's meetmythamerica blog. She's got one of the best and most graphic treatments that I've seen.

Your 11:55 posting serves to me as an example of how to produce an informative, concise message. I value your balanced and contextual approach.

When I was quoting from PD's blog I was lambasted and destroyed.
On that particular subject I find that blog very well researched and found it introducing information on states like Oregon or cities (Portland) or states like Oklahoma (which I connect with native americans) that was new to me.

I read your "lead mining" comment as a particular sting as to the brainpoisoning faculties of said metal.

Again, a perfect example on how to be both informative and staying true to the satirical nature of this blog.

    thks, trying to learn here.

Does anyone know of human anatomy books showing these extra muscles that "blacks" have? My local and county libraries yielded no such information. One librarian suggested I check with the KKK.

A cross represents a penis and a heart is a vagina? Although this sounds like COG-crazy, I have never heard this before.

I thought that in the COG world, it was church steeples that were penises, but as far as I remember, hearts were never associated with vaginas. Maybe I missed that sermon, lol!

  17. Satire is often present, nck, and sometimes it is even misinterpreted by the trained literalists of Armstrongism. However, satire is not the main thrust of this blog. For that, you may want to check out "The Onion". Factual material on the Armstrong movement, its various personalities, questionable or false beliefs, corruption, and failed false prophecies seem to dominate the topics of conversation here. Exposure, to debunk, and to promote accountability. These are serious topics, treating the ways in which a false system has robbed people of what in most cases could have been good lives.

Your theory that HWA was truly a great man, and that we were simply looking in the wrong places, and therefore, somehow missed out on this knowledge is both bogus, and irrelevant to people who had large chunks of their lives ruined by the main thrust of his existence, his life as a false prophet, and iron-fisted authoritarian. There is certainly nothing satirical about that. Because we were deceived and intimidated by his worst scenario false prophecies, we unwittingly funded his ability to own a corporate jet, and to seek photo ops with dignitaries around the world. This hob-knobbing was the placebo which he presented to us as the church was dealing with the failure and disappointment of 1972-75. There are no lasting effects to these visits, other than membes realizing that they got "royally" ripped off. Like his ministry, it was all an illusion, the product of an incredibly huge ego, an ego that splinter group leaders try to approximate, but can't even come close. The discontinued presence of that ego is why the post-HWA Armstrong movement is dying.

All an illusion. You are either a fatalist or a buddhist by that statement.
If you can find a statement that I said hwa was great I'll get you your next coke!
I have only pointed out the technicalities of wcg, for instance that the jet was leased from stan and later sold by incompetent officers of the corporation for a 50.000 kick back fee, not owned by hwa.

You are mistaken if I do not recognize your or others genuine hurt.
But you must have recognized by some of my examples that I do trade in illusions on a 40% margin. And people do that willingly.
Peoples lives get ruined a lot in the real world, if you would come out of your cave of (genuine) hurt, and hwa has nothing to do with it. Was he great, of course not, what an insult.

You've been trying to sidle-up to BB since you first came here, but it hasn't gone well, eh?

Hint: Maybe you need to re-evaluate your strategy.
Only a fool would try to sidle-up to BB or anyone else here, since we all have our own lives, minds and ideas.

In other words, never try to sidle-up.
    Your strategy has failed.
It's not because BB isn't a good person. He is! - Although I can think of 9 ways from Sunday that he and I see things differently.
And heck, I've noticed at least 17 ways from Sunday in which you and him disagree.

    Be your own person, nck.
Stop trying to to sidle-up to BB in order to gain credibility on this forum.

I'm wondering how many times BB has to hit you with his fly-swatter before you get the hint.

No one is worthy of you sidleing-up to them. Everyone's worth is self-derived.

(Or not, if you believe differently, lol)

PS: In case the meaning isn't evident to you, "sidle-up" is also a term from a Seinfeld episode.

  28. I read something on another site a while ago that has been rolling around in my mind.

I don't recall which story it was in reference to but it drew a parallel between how brethren idolize RCM (and others). At first, I just thought about how people stand in line to butt kiss after services or try to get notices by the higher ups, etc.

After thinking about it for a couple of weeks now, I've come to the realization that it's much more than that. I only have experience in LCG but I can say unequivocally that it is full out idolatry.

It's not just respect for the "government of God" or respect for "God's ministry". It is idolatry.

People in LCG (including myself) go along with things we don't necessarily agree with and which in some cases are not Biblical just because Dr. Meredith says so. We just trust him blindly.

I have begun to question the safety of such obedience over the past year. God says not to trust men and yet, I have been trained to "trust in the ministry". To do anything else is heresy.

God and His Word should trump whatever the human leaders of organizations say. Period. Anything else is idolatry.

Judging from the legal document dec 30 1981 I am assuming that it is about gta's jet being sold. But this is a guess. The letter directed to the board and dr meredith amongst them, under "Statement on Auditing Standards No. 20, Required Communication of Material Weaknesses in Internal Accounting Control, AICPA" speaks of a kickback scheme to a Mexican bank under the incompetent management of the lawyers of the church corporation.

The report is made because the church is in danger of no longer being "organized and operated exclusively for religious purposes according to the applicable regulations under I. R. C. 501 (cX3)"

With above information you can easily obtain the document with the help from our search friends in mountain view.

I do not source the document since in my perception, although a stark indictment of the officers of the church, serves to exonerate the main culprits. And since I don't know your legal skills you may interpret it differently.

I only mentioned it in passing to the stupid claim that hwa owned a jet.
If you are in dire need of the document ask James or I will provide it in private. But I'm sure most of you have read it in one form or another. It is what I consider common knowledge and easily available like everything I post.

I only mentioned it in passing to counter the claim that hwa ever owned a plane.
It was leased from Stan. That story is common knowledge I believe.

On dec 30 1981 a legal document was presented to the board (among those dr meredith) in accordance with "Statement on Auditing Standards No. 20, Required Communication of Material Weaknesses in Internal Accounting Control, AICPA."

In it mention is made of a 50.000 dollar kickback fee to I believe a mexican bank.
Looking at the dates I’m guessing it was the sale of gta’s plane that was poorly monitored by the legal staff.

The cause of concern was that the church was in danger of not any longer being “organized and operated exclusively for religious purposes according to the applicable regulations under I. R. C. 501 (cX3)”

The document in its entirety is in my opinion an exoneration of the real culprits albeit an indictment of the sitting incompetent management of the corporation.

As an ex LCG member I would be remiss not mention that in addition to the things already listed LCG has no love (except for power, money and control), no self awareness, no loyalty, no joy, no character, no transparency and no understanding of the spirit of the law.
