The manipulation and deception of the Living Church of God continues to roll on. LCG recently launched a new web site that supposedly exposes the truth on what real doctrines are compared the traditions that many believe. That web site is called: The Bible Says THAT?
What you have been taught… might not actually be in the Bible.
LCG is constantly being stung by the fact it still holds unbreakable ties to Herbert Armstrong and his doctrines. Plus, the cultish worship of Rod Meredith is off putting to most people too. As they drop hundreds of thousands of dollars on seminars and campaigns, people quickly fade away once they know the ties the LCG has to Armstrongism. It seems like everything LCG touches anymore is a failure.
Even weirder is their DO NOT DONATE link where they say this:
What they fail to point out is that once you join up you will be subjected to 30% in tithes, numerous offerings, building funds, tithe of the tithe, and incessant financial appeals to support the final push so the end times can get here.
Then they have the gall to also ask people to share it with their friend and family and "have fun" doing it. They are right about one thing though, people WILL think they are crazy!
There is NOTHING "free" about the Living Church of God!
True Christianity begins the moment LCG members start unlearning the teachings of Herbert W Armstrong and the Church of God!
Even weirder is their DO NOT DONATE link where they say this:
In Matthew 10:8, Jesus Christ says: “Freely you have received, freely give.” Please share this website with your friends and family. They may think you are crazy, but have fun with it and remember: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thess. 5:21, KJV).
TheBibleSaysThat.com is part of our outreach to proclaim the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to all the world as well as to teach and make disciples using the Bible as the supreme authority. For many followers of the Word of God, restoring original Christianity begins with “unlearning” misguided traditions and concepts that are not found in the Bible. We hope this website will help with that.
Test everything you read here, and don’t just take our word for it. Feel free to write to us or comment on the website. This website and all of its resources are provided free of charge by the Living Church of God, which has ministers and congregations throughout much of the world.

LCG can do even greater miracles than Jesus AND if you just ask, you can have any and everything you ask for. Just ask!
John 14:12-14. The context is Jesus speaking to the apostle Philip:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
On Singles Weekend, skip the handshake. Holy Kiss her and watch your attitude, In fact, no fewer than five verses from five different books of the New Testament all order it – Romans 16:16, 1 Corinthians 16:20, 1 Thessalonians 5:26, 1 Peter 5:14, in addition to the one cited above – which implies, given the strength of their recommendation, that the biblical authors saw it as essential.
“Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.”
Uh Oh....that's the end of Apostle Dave Pack and his control over RCG
"The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient."
—Titus 1:5-6 (NIV)
—2 Corinthians 13:11-12
Uh oh.....
"....another case is Herbert W. Armstrong, founder of the Worldwide Church of God and one of the 20th century's more prominent apocalyptic preachers. Armstrong had such an acrimonious split within his family that he excommunicated his own son, Garner Ted Armstrong, and forbade members of his church from speaking to him. And yet, again, the elder Armstrong continued in his position of leadership for years thereafter."

I remember a character in "Superman" comics, years ago. He was an incidental bystander during someone's visit to the planet "Bizarro", a shadow world where everything dealt in contradictions and opposites. He was overheard saying "I'm going to become famous by not becoming a comedian! Just think of the masses of people who won't come to hear all of the jokes that I don't tell!"
ReplyDeleteLet's face it, folks, we did time in someone's version of a similar world, on what we will call the planet "Armstrong", a world in which opposites and non sequiturs were a way of daily life. This bizarro, shadow LCG website is consistent with the twisted theoogy and philosophy of Armstrongism. It may seem shocking to the pure of heart, but, it fits with the past history and management style of the movement. After all, we are talking about a cult here!

There are no perfect men and all "Bible truth" comes from very flawed human beings. "None righteous" and all that.
Personally I believe many of the Biblical characters show more than enough symptoms that today would be considered mental illness. Herbert Armstrong thought a bit too highly of himself as do others like Flurry, Pack and Thiel. Whether they bring real truth,is the rub. They all bring their version and spin.
Even Jesus mother and brothers thought Jesus , in at least in Mark's version, edited out by every other Gospel, needed to be taken home "because he was mad (crazy)" That topic comes down to the "Liar, Lunatic or Lord" argument to which I would add "Or Legend?" I think Jesus himself was more of a legend and a literary construct out of OT scriptures than a real person but that's just my spin on my studies. Secular history is not as "full of attestations to Jesus" as one might think or wish.
I never met anyone who said, "I know I go to the false church." EVERYONE goes to the right church or they'd not go. Most don't even think about whether a church or their church is the true one or not. Church is church and most attend either the one of their fancy and choice or stay in the one they inherited at birth.
Scriptural truth depends on the spin. The Apostle Paul spun it away from "law" and probably because of his own failings towards "Grace" Jewish Christians were lawmen and probably hated Paul. Most mainline churches think Peter, James, John and Paul all loved each other and taught the same things. They did not. Not by a long shot. Acts endeavors to give the impression of unity and agreement, but it is a fabrication. A short read of Galatians 1-2 will show just how little Paul thought or cared about what Peter, James and John thought or taught. Paul was the Lone Ranger and his version won out. I suspect Paul to be a failed Pharisee and not near as "above his fellows" and "concerning the law ..blameless" as he makes himself out to be (Paul the Mythmaker-Maccoby)
Anyway, truth is in the eye of the beholder and concerning HWA, personal conduct does matter especially when he is begging for the grocery money from those who don't have much more to give, much like Dave Pack, and then spends it on $2500 bottles of Whiskey, gold, silver and rare antiques, not to mention paying world leaders to meet with him and let him wow the crowd with the gutless Gospel he offered in code as he traveled all over the planet living like a King.
PS "Naysayers need not reply" simply means to me that one does not wish to hear anything that might disturb their particular version of truth. Without naysayers you have despots and without "scoffers" , falsely labeled, you have no cautionary advice or observations on the wild and ludicrous scriptural claims of those who really affect the lives of other with their foolish self serving and Fruit cake ideas about themselves and the Bible.

Dennis, it may seem that way but such is not the case. I believe I can learn from every man but if an opinion is contrary to my own then, after examination, I make a decision to accept it or not. In MOST cases I find contrary opinions to be not acceptable, hence my final comment.
In any case I am still willing to listen when someone does make a response, always prepared to fall back on that conclusion I derived long ago. ie."We ALL believe what we want to believe, be it the truth or a lie."

ps.
ReplyDeleteI wrote in my last post that I can learn from every man. Let me expand that and say I can even learn from those such as Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry and the like. And what I have learned is that I can't learn anything from them! LOL.

ReplyDeleteYES! Let's talk about the TRUTH that various cult leaders brought !!!
Like the TRUTH that Marshall Applewhite brought...
Like the TRUTH that David Koresh brought...
Like the TRUTH that Charles Manson brought...
Like the TRUTH that Shoko Ashara brought...
Like the TRUTH that David Koresh brought...
Like the TRUTH that Adolph Hitler brought...
Like the TRUTH that Jim Jones brought...
Like the TRUTH that Herbert W. Armstrong brought...
Like the TRUTH that L. Ron Hubbard brought...
Like the TRUTH that Garner Ted Armstrong brought...
Like the TRUTH that Luc Jouret brought...
Like the TRUTH that Sun Myung Moon brought...
Like the TRUTH that Joseph Di Mambro brought...
Isn't it all TRUTH?
YES!!!
Maybe, like Ralph, you're still brainwashed. In that case, you'll 'stick to your guns', and do the best you can to try and "spread the Word" of the wonderful things "The Leader" has imparted unto you.
9.22 just because there are deceivers, doesn't mean that truth doesn't exist. There are fixed laws of chemistry, fixed laws of physics and fixed laws of morality. I've always felt that those who did the science courses in high school, have the advantage here, since they comprehend physical laws. There is a firm fixed reality, so truth does exist.

Speaking for myself, I don't denigrate Ralph. HWA and the above each have their own various levels of skill in powermad manipulations. It seems that the greater the expertise one has, tends to cause greater collateral damage from their errors.
Ralph is not a cult-leader. I think he knows the truth about HWA. I will also add that most of the sheep in armstrongism have no desire to lead. But, they do want to be right about what they learned. I believe we all do that.

I will say that we all are subject to the same laws of the universe. Those laws will always be there, whether we like them or not, and whether we are aware of them or not. Comprehending those laws can allow us to obey them with greater precision and reap greater results. When Einstien disproved Newton's law of gravity, Nature did not forfeit the knowledge and outcomes of the previous industrial age. It is that Einstein found a better theory that resolved some of the paradoxes that scientists had, which then led to newer technologies like GPS.

Absolute truth probably exists, but we can never know it for sure. I've always liked this quote:
"My religion is to seek for truth in life and for life in truth, even knowing that I shall not find them while I live." Unamuno

3.01PM this is the first time I have heard anyone claim that Einstein disproved gravity. As for your 'we can never know truth for sure,' I strongly disagree. How do we know the laws of physics and chemistry? The scientific method of course. That is, observation and reason. Or as the bible puts it 'you shall know them by their fruits.' God has given us the 5 senses and a reasoning mind, and expects us to use them. "Prove all thing" means we can know for certain.
ReplyDelete"When Einstien disproved Newton's law of gravity,..."
ReplyDeleteI was attempting to be brief. My preposition was that Einstein replaced Newton's understanding with a much better theory of gravity. Believe it or not, we could have still put men on the moon without general relativity. With Einstein's theory, we were able to design the technology of GPS. In other words, we can now obey the law of gravity with greater precision.

ReplyDeleteYes, and that is how I know that I can never know "absolute truth".
